Philosophy

The answer for bad speech is not to silence that speech but produce good speech. If you find a show offensive switch the channels and watch something else. For example I love Opey and Anthony but when I feel they’re going over the top or just boring (sorry guys) I switch to a different channel .   Why should “Phil Robertson” from Duck Dynasty be taken off the air because his words were politically incorrect and might have hurt others? Why should Martin Bashir and Alec Baldwin lose their jobs because their remarks were ” over the top”.

All a network has to say is that these viewpoints are not necessarily the viewpoints of the network and/or the management of the network.   If we keep censoring controversial speech eventually know one but the politically correct will speak. People will feel a certain way but have no way to express those thoughts in a rational and reasonable way. Therefore instead of silence voices let’s open  the conversation wider and allow all  different voices to be heard from the right, left and even wrong and right.

It has come to my attention that the Purchasing Department of a certain City Institution has blacklisted some vendors for no reason. These vendors provided goods and services to this institution for years at much lower prices then they are currently buying these goods for. This means that the taxpayer monies are being thrown away like paper in a fireplace.

Those in the lower levels of authority at this institution are disgusted and suggested that I make a complaint.  Yet when I went to call 311 to report this abuse they had know one I could report it to. I then spent about a half an hour trying to speak to someone from the State Attorney General office who directed me to the City Attorney General Office where I spent another c. 1/2 hour on the phone.  Where do I go now? Luckily I have a friend who has the ability to spend some time investigating which investigating agencies I should go to otherwise I probably wouldn’t have the time to pursue the truth.

This is just another example of why big government is not the answer.  Although most of the workers at these institutions are fine outstanding members of our community it only takes a few corrupt individuals at the top to destroy all their good works. What makes it most enticing for these individuals to act in such a corrupt way is that there is no oversight and no need for being under budget like in the private sector where spending too much for a product can put you out of business.

Many politicians spend way to much time worrying about how things look then how things are actually work.  It appears that marketing and promoting a policy takes more time then actually seeing if the policy is actually meeting it’s goals. The magic they perform can only work if they distract the public from what is actually occurring.   When the policy fails to meet the goals they instead either get their friends in the media to switch topics all together or blame it on an intangible force that truly has nothing to do with the policy.

A clear illustration of this occurring is the “Affordable Care Act”/Obamacare”. This policy has failed by almost every objective view so instead of admitting to it we see the force of magic in full force. Although we utilize this act to show how politicians use their magic,  trust me it has been done with many other administration. It will occur again and again until the public becomes fully aware that the rabbit has already been in the hat.  Here are just two examples of how this is occurring today.

(1) The Administration is blaming problems with this act on the bureaucracy. Yet it’s not like he’s sitting on the side  he is the chief executive of this bureaucracy.

(2)We now see an organized news campaign to discuss increasing the minimum wage and extending unemployment benefits.

I recently heard from an individual who had strong disagreements with the President and then was invited to the “White House”.  This individual was delighted to receive this invitation and was taken in by the beautiful décor of the building and all the entire experience.  It wasn’t surprising then to hear that this individual positions had modified their position. We all can be taken in by style over substance especially when that style connects with our lifestyle.  It is why marketing is such a large key to success for any product or service. That is another reason we must be extremely carefully on who we elect to office because once they get in that position they receive a certain automatic credibility. It is also why we must be careful to listen to each individual on what they say not based on their diploma on the wall.

What do Holocaust Survivors and Nelson Mandella have in common? In one word longevity.  These individuals have gone through some of the worst conditions possible including sleep deprivation, unsanitary conditions, lack of proper nutrition, beatings, depression and yet still have lived long relatively healthy lives. Any one of these conditions could and did kill many but some how these individuals made it through.  We have people today who watch every calorie they eat, exercise regularly, get plenty of sleep and then die at an early age.  How could this occur? I believe it is not only the inner will of the person that keeps them going but the plan G-D has in place for such an individual. It is not as if the person must be a saint for G-D’s protection  but they must going in the right direction and fight at every opportunity to keep their dreams alive. WHAT DO YOU THINK?
