We all have strong principles that we should not forsake unless proven wrong but those principles don’t have to separate us along political/business divides. The key to leadership is to build consensus on the items you agree with first and as a result build trust as these actions are taken. If individuals who might disagree with your philosophy see that you are accomplishing many items, they are more likely to be open minded about the other principles that you hold dear. This could result in them willing to concede a point or two to. Even if they vehemently disagree with you at least you accomplished some good in between the war of values.
