If by some reason you see a simple little structure in the back of a friend or neighbors house during this time of the year they are probably celebrating Sukkah (or have been kicked out by their wife). If my presumption is right (not about being kicked out) then this family will be celebrating a traditional holiday commanded by the bible to build these types of structures and dwell in them. These were the same types of structures that our ancestors built when we left Egypt and dwelled in the desert. But why would G-D command the Jewish people us to build such a structure the rabbi shared with me two beautiful reasons.
(1) We must realize that in order to be blessed by G-D that we have to play an active role in that blessing. Or in other words G-D helps those who help themselves and accept G-D’s role in every blessing. The Sukkah structure that we build is not very sturdy just like our everything we build it can be teared down and we must release G-D’s role in keeping it sturdy.
(2) In a world that has great technological advances the simple things are truly what matters. A Sukkah is a simple structure which allows us to enjoy the simple true joys of family and friendship.

The deceiver can be found in all different walks of our life. They can be the abusive relationship that promises it will be better next time. The world leader who smiles as he says all they want is peace while they build an offensive stockpile of nuclear or chemical weapons. Or an employee or boss who tells you tomorrow will be different even though tomorrow never seems to come
The deceiver knows more about us then we know about ourselves. He/she understands that we will overlook facts when our emotional needs are met. They understand that appearances (smiles, proper dress etc) can make all the difference. The deceiver understands the role of key words (peace, family, fairness) that can drive someone to their side. Most importantly the deceiver has the ability to use empathy to manipulate you to their side of view.
We must fight the deceiver whether that deceiver come from our family, our party, or even our faith. The deceiver hurts us and those around us as they use intimidation and fear to stop those around him/her from revealing the truth. Facts and the truth must be continually thrown back at the deceiver but in a way that makes this individual eventually fall. We must be willing to use their weapons against them whether they be a smiles, proper dress, key words or even the public’s empathy to insure the truth prevails and decency survives.

I’ve often heard that the world is not black and white yet has many shades but when it comes to work situation I’d rather stay with the basics. At times it appears that when there is a flood from a pipe people will spend hours trying to find out who’s fault. When the person is discovered he/she might spend another few hours making excuses why it’s not their fault. Finally by the time we come to some conclusion we have drowned in a sea of water.
Instead I believe when there is a problem we should seek an answer immediately before something that just needed a Band-Aid requires surgery. We will have plenty of time to reflect on what caused the incident once we solve the problem. By the way any grammatical mistakes in this piece are do to my dogs who had me up all night. Dogs are easy to blame because they love you anyway.
History doesn’t need to repeat itself but that means we need to make a difference. The killings at the Naval Base in Washington D.C, Newton Connecticut and Aurora Colorado have one underlining thread, our treatment of the mentally ill is lacking. Those that are suffering from mental illness are suffering from an illness like anyone else but it is in their head instead of there heart or other parts of the body. When someone has a life threatening disease we in society use almost every means possible to treat, especially if it can hurt other but for some reason there is an exception made for those with mental health issues. There is a solution.
(1) Laws must be enacted so family Member, friends or even associates can have an individual evaluated even against their will if they deem that person a threat to themselves or others. Of course safeguards will be instituted so those that file false charges will face repercussions (including fines and/or evaluations themselves).
(2) Social workers, community volunteers must play an active part of a local community to reach out to those who might be alone and or suffering. They must have the resources and training to deal with these individuals as well.
(3) These evaluations must be conducted in a warm loving environment that seeks to help the individual.
(4) Those that are deemed to need treatment must receive treatment. Again safeguards will be instituted so those that are forced into treatment will have ample opportunity to appeal.
(5) Society needs to promote those individuals that seek treatment instead of stigmatize them or ostracize them.
(6) Police and security officials at facilities will be notified of individuals who are in treatment and be trained how to deal with individuals having a breakdown and at the same time not to stigmatize or isolate those under treatment.
(7) Those under treatment will be persuaded by mental health professionals to have a trusted individual hold their fire-arms, violent video games and or related items that might trigger them to have a violent episode until a steady regiment of treatment is established and instituted.
(8) Group therapy, friendship groups must be part of any therapy so the individual doesn’t feel isolated at anytime and so others can help if need be before any episode gets out of control.

LOS ANGELES – They’re both 20.
They have both been child stars.
They’re both making big news with their new music.
But that is where the parallels start to run out.
Ariana Grande and Miley Cyrus are the most talked about female pop stars of the moment (sorry Britney). But where Cyrus — and Spears before her — went trashy when they said goodbye to their teens, Grande is managing to attract attention without showing off an R-rated side. Or even a PG-13 one.
Last week her debut studio album, “Yours Truly,” shot to number one on the U.S. Billboard charts, making Grande the first female artist to debut at number one since Ke$ha’s “Animal” in 2010, and only the 15th to do so in history. And Grande did it without riding wrecking balls naked or dancing in a bikini with a boa constrictor!
Grande is the star of the new Nickelodeon series “Sam & Cat,” a spin-off from the popular “iCarly,” which she starred on for three years. The Florida native got her showbiz start when she was a teen, making her acting debut in “13” on Broadway in 2008. Over the years, the emerging superstar garnered acclaim as a soloist in various symphonies, and her rendition of “The Star-Spangled Banner” marked the first-ever broadcast of the national anthem for the Florida Panthers
But it has only been in recent months that Grande has exploded nationally, and according to some experts, being a little older when starting her Hollywood journey may be the key to a long and clean career.
“Ariana’s talent speaks for itself, she doesn’t need bad publicity or gimmicks to sell her music,” said acting coach Donnie Klang, co-founder with Matthew LoaPorte of The Loft Studio. “She is the current role model that we use while we are training these up and coming stars.”
Grande has already drawn vocal comparisons to Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston, and is known for being savvy when it comes to social media. In December 2011, she earned her one millionth Twitter follower. Today, she has just under 10 million, in addition to over 7 million Instagram followers and over 5 million Facebook likes.
Another sign the entertainer has her head screwed on straight is the fact that long before catapulting to fame, philanthropy was on her mind. At the age of 10, Grande co-founded the youth singing group Kids Who Care in her home state, which performed for charitable fundraising events, and in 2009 she performed and taught music to children in South Africa as a member of a Broadway in South Africa initiative.
“This proves that Ariana is using her time to make a difference in the world. She’s not club-hopping or Instagramming her extravagant purchases of a Rolex like other famous young stars do,” said Diana Madison, host and founder of Hollyscoop TV.
Grande is also more than just a pretty voice, she’s also a sound engineer and producer. Her sophomore album is already slated for release in February, and perhaps the biggest concern for Grande, who is said to model her style on classy movie greats Marilyn Monroe and Audrey Hepburn, is not ripping off her clothes and licking sledgehammers, but burning out.
“First day off in forever,” she tweeted last week on the very day “Yours Truly” hit No. 1 after canceling her promotional appearances due to a hemorrhaged vocal cord. “Vocal rest and watching movies with my best friend.”
And even though scores of parents are likely hoping Grande doesn’t start messing with foam fingers anytime soon, she has no qualms in carving her own, unconventional path.
“I don’t feel much pressure to fit in. I’ve always just wanted to do my thing,” she told Rolling Stone. “I have really good friends and good family and if it don’t fit in somewhere else, I fit in at home.”
