Hello, Hi is even controversial.

Hello

Saying Hello can be quite controversial in today’s world. Not only due you have to worry about cultural views on how to introduce yourself but now you have to worry about sexual innuendos that this introduction can bring. Here are a few controversies (below) you may have not even considered.

(1) In Europe it’s customary for people of the same sex to kiss each others cheek to say hello but if you follow this custom will someone get the wrong idea?

(2) Traditional Jewish woman  will not shake the hand of someone from the opposite sex but how about someone who is dressed in that fashion but not traditional? Could you appear arrogant by not shaking their hand?

(3) Some people have a loud and enthusiastic Hello while others are more low keyed.  If you’re the low keyed person do you come across as being someone who doesn’t care? If you’re over enthusiastic do you appear over anxious?

(4) The hello handshake can appear to strong and intimidate the person you’re greeting or be to weak and make you appear as someone who can be stepped on.

(5) Hugging someone can be too much or can be what they expected. Let’s not forget point 1 which adds to the confusion.

(6) Those of “royalty” expect you not to touch them when greeting them and might even expect a bow but how do you know if someone comes from that background.

(7) Many people of orient descent bow to each other upon greeting but would be a person born in America find it offensive if you bowed to them.

Let’s not forget people in the inner-city, and down south, who should say hi first  and…  Maybe we should all just wear permanent hello stickers.  If you think this topic is confusing wait till I discuss “Goodbye’s”

The Families-T.V Concept

A Hasidic family moves to a mixed neighborhood that is forced to come together due to events that occur within that community. It’s a light hearted dramatic-comedy that shows how families the differences within families but also the similarities.

Stop giving leaders more to fail on.

Obama confused

If a leader is unable to administer the work they’ve already been assigned there is no point in giving them more work. Let them first show that they are successful in achieving their initial goal before they have more work to do.  This appears to be a common sense approach to any governance.   Yet I see a push to ignore this basic philosophy from those who have a different political position then I do.

From all objective viewpoints “The Affordable Care Act/Obamacare” is failing and more problems appear to be heading our way starting January 1st. Therefore it’s essential that we don’t add to this growing Cancer by diverting resources for it’s treatment otherwise it could be a fatal blow to our country. For example if we try to enact other broad legislation like “Immigration Reform” with this administration they’ll just have another bill that they don’t understand how to enact and try to make legislative changes from the Executive branch.    This in turn will only  cause another area of infection for our country when we were trying to treat one area.  We should instead focus all governmental efforts to treat it and hopefully remove the most damaging parts of the Affordable Care Act/Obamacare or it will continue to haunt us for generations to come.

Another government ban

banned

On January 1st the official ban of 60 watt light bulbs go in effect.  Is this ban based on the danger of the product? I don’t think so unless you really don’t know how to screw in a light bulb. Is it based on some long term danger to an individual? No that’s the bulb we’ll be forced to replace it with, which most have Mercury in them.  This ban is based on forcing us to be “more energy efficient” on the government terms.

It’s just another example of big brother truly knows what’s best for us. If the government truly felt that this was the way to go couldn’t they put in an incentive plan instead of banning a product or are we just to stupid?   Yet we continue to elect representatives that are our babysitters instead of employees working for our own interest.  When will learn that government should work for us and we must be responsible for our own decisions.

Am I getting old or just being practical?

Confused

Tonight I had tickets to the Bryant University game with all the fanfare at MSG and didn’t go because of this Snow Storm. I remember like it was yesterday driving with my buddies during a blizzard just to get to a bar over 40 miles away. When I finally got there the bar was closed and I was stopped by the police because I forgot to turn on my lights. It was a waste of time but still a hell of a lot of fun for guys searching for some adventure. Now a days I sit and write this blog for fun. What has my life become?  How can I blow $190 for these tickets and dinner because I was worried about the “conditions”.  To make matters worse I’m justifying my behavior by saying “It’s not my driving skills but the guy/gal next to me” or “The monies I spent will be donated to my Alma Mater”. What am I talking about I’m missing a great (probably lousy) game, but at least I’d be there! That’s it I’m going out… at least to pick up Chinese food and even a movie … at Redbox.

Talking about …. Tomatoes

tomatoes

Where have my conversations gone? I remember the days that I would be debating heated topics such as abortion, legalizing drugs but now it’s tomatoes. How have I sunk to this level?  Is this what people of my age speak about?  Am I moving to discussions about trips to the bathroom? This must stop…. or should it? Truth be told this might be just the right conversation here’s a few reasons why (below)

(1) You’re not going to have a fierce argument about White Ice Tomatoes and Cherry Tomatoes.

(2) You can actually listen to the other person speaking and not feel you have to get your point across.

(3) There is no moral issues concerning tomatoes.

(4) Tomatoes don’t belong to any minority, religious, or cultural community.

(5) They’re Kosher and Halial.

(6) You can say plump without offending anyone.

(7) Various points of view are accepted.

Don’t worry though next time I’ll find a way to move the topic to a more heated discussion maybe tomato sauce.
