Israel stands strong

It is great to have someone at your back when an enemy is ready to attack but when they lack that willingness to defend your back you must prepared to stand alone. The current state of Israel has had a wonderful alliance with the United States in security issues on both fronts  but recently that alliance has begun to crumple.   This has occurred even though the majority of Americans from Evangelical Christians to Jewish population in her country continue to strongly support the alliance, yet the administration has ignored the voice of the American people and taken a “more broad” approach.  I guess they continue to think they know better.  They believe that Iran will all of sudden give up their ambition to use nuclear weapons because the world will lesson the sanctions. How naïve  is  this administration? Do they understand how despots use these deals to  “buy time”?  Why don’t they look at the “wonderful deals” they have cut with North Korea? Those deals were wonderful for North Korean leaders but horrible for the world and the North Korean people.

Israel needs to form new alliance with other countries and groups not because it doesn’t still love the American people but because it’s survival is at stake. These alliance might be with countries in the past that have been enemies of Israel  because an enemy to my enemy may become a friend.  Israel must work with groups in the United States and the world that truly understand the threat Iran presents not to just her but the world as a whole.  Israel stands strong and with the will of G-D will be victorious in not only helping to bring true peace  to it’s land but the world as a whole.

Nuclear option is frightning

kangroo court

It’s interesting that breaking the filibuster rule in the Senate is called the “Nuclear Option” is this because it is a threat to the very foundations blocks of our Democracy? Maybe the answer to this question  should be analyzed on the principal  of whether we believe the minority party should have a voice in our governance or whether we believe that majority should rule and control.  If we believe that majority should rule without any voices from the minority party then could that lead to suppression of minority rights?

The majority party said that they are only changing this policy as it relates to judicial appointments (other then the Supreme Court).  Isn’t the separation of powers a crucial factor in insuring that our constitution protects all of our citizens? If a judicial appointment owes their position only to one party would that judicial appointment only be concerned about protecting their rights? The scary truth is of course that would occur but what is most frightening is the President could openly appoint judges as “yes man/woman” without any fear that the minority party could stop their appointment in anyway.  If the President stacks the courts he could then insure that his executive orders and “waivers in legislation” will go through a “Kangaroo Court” that will always side with him.  We therefore must tell the Senate to reinstate the Filibuster to insure that all of our citizens voices are heard and the constitution is truly protected

Accepted Prejudice

Posted by Bruce - in Blog, Philosophy, Political - No Comments

prejudice Any form of prejudice shackles the individual holding that position from truly understanding their fellow man/woman

There is another form of prejudice that is widely accepted and even promoted in our society and media outlets. This form of prejudice  pre judges an individual before they even have a chance to explain themselves.  This form is called “Political Prejudice” when an individual is judged by the political party they are associated with.

Political Prejudice labels everyone in a group and expects them all to act a like.  I understand that individuals from certain political parties generally have certain positions that we as individuals approve of or disapprove of but let’s hear it from the their mouth and/or papers before we throw that position on them. When it comes to voting for individuals for office we might be more inclined to vote for a certain party because we identify with their values those parties espouse yet we should try to look a bit deeper and see if the individual shares those values or is just holding the label.

More importantly lets not judge our fellow citizens because they identify with a certain political party until we hear what that party identification means to them. For  example many of my friends who are conservatives and liberal shock me by the contrarian  positions they have from their own party platform. We even expect every conservative and liberals to live a certain “lifestyle” and are often shocked to see that they actually live their life contrary to the stereotype.  It’s time we look at people as individuals and judge them as such.

Elizabeth Smart Elizabeth Smart 2

I just started reading Elizabeth Smart’s book “My Story” and realized that just like others attacked by psychopaths, there was a clear path that could have prevented or lessoned the horrible plight that these victims went through.  Mental health professionals should befriend and/or visit  those who have had episodes/experiences that have been shown to lead to a possible path of deviance. If the mental health professionals meet with such individuals on a semi-annually basis they would be able to insure that they weren’t planning or acting in a way that could cause pain or harm to the innocent. Furthermore if they felt there were suspicious activities occurring they could report these actions to the police  for further investigation  and G-D willing stop or prevent these acts from occurring in the first path.

Yelling

It appears that some people will yell at others when they feel their losing an argument. They use this tactic to annoy the individual into submission. This topic is constantly used in political arguments where emotions outweigh logic.  Just like a bully who frightens people this individual needs to be dealt with but how? How does a person battle against these tactics?

(1) Ignore their outburst but deal with the emotional side of their argument “For example I understand your pain but…”

(2)Focus on others who are in the audience and insure that there interests are pursued with your argument.

(3) Tell the individual that you appreciate their passion on the issues but that we should show respect for all points of view.

(4) Do not continue the debate if nothing else is gained. State your points clearly, logical and with passion but no when enough is enough and move on.

Terrorism- Used as anti-bullying technique?

Radical by Majid Nawz

I never understood why anyone would resort to an act of terrorism but in the book “Radical”  Maajid Nawaz describes how others might see it differently. Nawaz and his Muslim friends were continually bullied by a group of British skinheads until one day they stood still.  The skin-heads were shocked that they just stood in front of their homes and when they asked their leader to speak. He explained that they were aren’t afraid to die because of their faith but would take them with them. The skin-heads never bothered them again.

This whole event deeply concerns me because nobody should be attacked because of their faith but at the same terrorism should not be a way of defense.  Yet terrorism itself is not the act of defending oneself against a bully instead it is the act of unleashing terror on the innocent to try to cause intimidation so they will act in a certain way. If we keep in mine it is an offensive act against the innocents then we can insure that we are battling for the right cause.

Please note I’m continuing to read this book.

Money Back Guarantee

Money Back Guarantee

Why is it that we expect a money back guarantee when a manufacture produces a defective product but don’t expect that guarantee when our government fails. For example the Affordable Care Website/Obamacare has cost the American Taxpayer over $650 million dollars without producing any of the results it was supposed to. I say that we get a refund and give those funds to Mental Health Treatment facilities. G-D know this Obamacare is making us all go a bit insane.

Respect not accept others

signs

Their is a difference between respecting others beliefs then having to accept those beliefs as your own. There has been a discussion in NYC public schools about adding Islamic holidays as days off for the school calendar.  If we continue to cancel school for different religions children will eventually start their own religion that has holidays Mon-Friday from 7:30-4:30 PM (a bit of an exaggeration) but I think you know where I’m going.  Yet how do we insure that we don’t trample on others faith without pushing that observance on others that don’t belief.

(1) Start each school day with information on a holiday or special occasion that might occur on that day.

(2) Allow students who celebrate such a holiday the day off without any penalty. If they had a test or homework assigned for that day give them extra days to make it up.

(3) Insure that all students not only respect each others faiths but also understand the basics of these faiths.

Fighting Corruption (Step 1) means changing guard

corruption corruption 2

If we truly want to fight corruption in our political system we must insure the same competition that occurs in the free market system occurs in our political system.  This can only occur if we modify the current system by instituting term limits (see specs below) and have open primaries for local offices.  We also must make sure that before a judge can run for office that there qualifications are certified by a board made up of individuals from diverse political backgrounds.  Finally we must rotate those who work for the government to different agencies  that can utilize their talents to insure that these agencies stay fresh with new blood and new ideas.  Please note this is only step 1. Please tell me what you think about this plan.

Term Limits

(1) You can only serve two consecutive terms in the Senate and then have to sit out for at least one electoral cycle before you can run or be appointed for any political office.  During the time that you sit out you can not participate in any paid  lobbying activity.

(2) You can only serve four terms in the House (8 years) and all conditions above apply.

(3) Term limits should also apply to all local and state offices as well as Presidents of any political party  with the same conditions noted above.
