I know it appears way to early to discuss the Presidential Election of 2016 but I believe that if we are stop the Hillary Express we must build up a strong candidate that has all the characteristics to win such a fight. I believe that candidate is Marco Rubio because he is a principled conservative with an image unlike many in leadership today. First let me say that we have plenty of qualified candidates of principal that could lead such a battle but I believe that Senator Rubio gives us our best chance to win this race without selling our soul. Many fellow Conservatives disagree with Senator Rubio’s stand on the immigration bill but it was a principled stand based on a clear logic. I also believe if you agree on 95% of the issues with someone then that should be sufficient.
First I will suggest why others aren’t as good as choice as Senator Rubio and then will explain why Rubio is the best choice.
(1) I love Rand Paul’s libertarian streak but his isolationist policies will be difficult obstacle for him to overcome.
(2) Chris Christie has a way to communicate basic philosophical arguments to the common man but his liberal positions on key issues, his virulent attack on fellow Conservatives, and now traffic gate will make it difficult to get him the nomination.
(3) Ted Cruz has shown character and strength in his fight against Obamacare but the media’s biased description of the shut down he led, will be extremely difficult for him to overcome.
_______________________________________________________
1. Marco Rubio- has the values and principles we generally agree on.
2. Senator Rubio has taken a strong stand on these key issues without looking like a bully.
3. Marco can communicate to the people ideas in a way that touch the soul and heart.
4. Senator Rubio’s background and growth will inspire others.
5. Marco has a great look- Young- Family Man-
6. Senator Rubio has taken on the establishment to earn the Senate seat he occupies today
7. Marco Rubio is Hispanic and can communicate effectively to those of Hispanic backgrounds.
8. Senator Rubio has not forgotten his roots even when there is a disagreement. He’ll present his views on Fox News, Sean Hannaty, etc.
9. Can you imagine his fresh warm face against an angry Hillary Clinton.
Now for his Vice Presidential Nominee hint she’s a woman Governor.
I’ve had mixed feelings about Chris Christie and tonight adds to that confusion. I applaud Christie for standing strong and stating the facts in plain language that nobody can ignore. Yet by having such as bombastic tone I believe Governor Christie might unintentionally make those in his staff belief “anything goes” in “getting the job done”. This could lead to people in his administration believing that it’s not only okay but right to punish those who disagree with him. We have seen Christie’s relentless antagonistic attacks not only on those from the opposite viewpoint but those from his own party need I say Rand Paul or Ted Cruz. I respect differing points of view in the party but they should be handled with respect and as friends.
It is impossible for one Governor to know everything that is occurring in his state but when the main artery in his state is “closed for business” he should be aware and take immediate actions. At the same time everyone makes mistakes so I don’t believe it’s just to pass judgment on Governor Christie for this one blemish of his fine record. Judgment must be based on the overall record of success that an individual brings and how they are able to overcome controversies and problems that arise.
At the same time we have to be impressed with the current way the Governor is handling the bridge controversy by accepting blame right away and forcing resignations of those that are responsible. Governor Christie also had a press conference that lasted an hour, just on this controversy alone, while I believe the current occupant of the White House hasn’t held a press conference lasting an hour even if you combined all his controversies together ( Benghazi, NSA, IRS etc etc) If only those in the White House would follow his advise we would have a new Attorney General and Cabinet.
It’s time someone in Congress truly stands up for the long term unemployment. They are sick of getting hand outs and want a job instead. These individuals generally realize the longer they’re unemployed the more likely they become dependent on the system and the less desirable they look to a possible employer. What they may not realize is that unemployment lowers their self confidence and ability to get such a job. How can we create jobs where they don’t appear to exist? We must realize that the world is not black and white and there are many different solutions. You might be against extend unemployment benefits because you truly want to help those who are disadvantaged. Here are just a few ways we can help I’m sure you can add some to the list.
(1) Help the chronic unemployed move to areas of job growth for example out of Detroit and into North Dakota. This might occur by helping to offset moving expenses or giving a tax credit to companies to offset their cost of moving such an individual.
(2) Use the FDR method. As many might know I’m not the biggest fan of this President but a good idea is a good idea no matter where it comes. After a certain cut out date require those who chronically unemployed to have to do community work for their benefits. The work could be helping build housing for those serving in the military, being a teachers assistant in an overcrowded school or cleaning the street.
(3) Let the long term unemployed pool their benefits together to create a new small business in their area. In the Bronx we could use a few new Deli’s.
If necessary I would be happy along with other Americans to pay more taxes in order to insure those least among us truly have the stepping stone to escape government dependency.
Across various sections of this globe Christians are being attacked and killed for their faith … this must stop! We can not close our eyes to the brutality that is occurring in countries such as Syria, Iraq, Nigeria and Egypt. Yesterday Christians in Bagdad were slaughtered as they tried to practice their faith in peace. I ask when will this senseless violence end?
As a person of the Jewish faith I implore those of all faiths to come together and defend every human souls right to pray in peace . The world must stop giving economic aid to countries that don’t properly defend all their citizens. When one attacks an individual of faith no matter what the faith they attack all of us of faith. It’s time we stand together and say enough is enough.
I have continually fought against bloated governmental spending in all forms but to cut the pensions of those that have served in our military is just plain wrong! These individuals put their lives on the line everyday defending our freedom yet we have the audacity to cut benefits that we have promised them. If we need to cut benefits for those in the military make it for those who serve in the future. If we need to cut benefits for pensions now let’s start at 1600 Pennyslvania Avenue and then work our way down to our Senate and House of Representative leaders who are voting for these cuts. Our military deserves better! PLEASE SHARE AND COMMENT
If a leader is unable to administer the work they’ve already been assigned there is no point in giving them more work. Let them first show that they are successful in achieving their initial goal before they have more work to do. This appears to be a common sense approach to any governance. Yet I see a push to ignore this basic philosophy from those who have a different political position then I do.
From all objective viewpoints “The Affordable Care Act/Obamacare” is failing and more problems appear to be heading our way starting January 1st. Therefore it’s essential that we don’t add to this growing Cancer by diverting resources for it’s treatment otherwise it could be a fatal blow to our country. For example if we try to enact other broad legislation like “Immigration Reform” with this administration they’ll just have another bill that they don’t understand how to enact and try to make legislative changes from the Executive branch. This in turn will only cause another area of infection for our country when we were trying to treat one area. We should instead focus all governmental efforts to treat it and hopefully remove the most damaging parts of the Affordable Care Act/Obamacare or it will continue to haunt us for generations to come.
On January 1st the official ban of 60 watt light bulbs go in effect. Is this ban based on the danger of the product? I don’t think so unless you really don’t know how to screw in a light bulb. Is it based on some long term danger to an individual? No that’s the bulb we’ll be forced to replace it with, which most have Mercury in them. This ban is based on forcing us to be “more energy efficient” on the government terms.
It’s just another example of big brother truly knows what’s best for us. If the government truly felt that this was the way to go couldn’t they put in an incentive plan instead of banning a product or are we just to stupid? Yet we continue to elect representatives that are our babysitters instead of employees working for our own interest. When will learn that government should work for us and we must be responsible for our own decisions.
No you’re not #1 the people of NY deserve better.
We are told that Senator Schumer is a shoe in and that nobody can truly challenge him for his Senate seat. This disgusts me because the Senator works for the people of NY and yet the policies he votes for are against most of those NY’s. I’m also disgusted because no representative should feel like there seat is guaranteed just because they have the resources of the political elite! We the people should insure that we put up a candidate who will fight to earn that seat. I would be honored to fight for that seat if there was a path and support for me to do so. Here are just a few examples of why Senator Schumer should be seeking a different career path.
(1) Senator Schumer has continually voted for increasing taxes on all New Yorkers. Rich, Middle and even poor.
(2) The Senator has voted to over-regulate and in-turn destroy business opportunities in the state.
(3) Schumer has voted for restrictions on bank and financial institutions that only help the big institutions and hurt community and local banks. These are the banks that support small businesses and start-ups.
(4) Senator Schumer voted in favor of Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel who has made anti-Semitic and anti-Israel remarks throughout his career.
(5) The Senator has shown disrespect and contempt for his employer the people of NY, especially those who see things differently. We expect our Senator to take a strong stand on issues that other NY’s might disagree with but we also expect him/her to respectful and listen to those from the state with differing points of view.
I can go on and on and on but I’ve got to go to work to pay for the Obamacare mess he voted for.
It’s time that elected officials understand who pays their checks! It’s time that they are held responsible for their actions! In other words if you promise something and don’t deliver then we need to get a new delivery man/woman (no excuses apply here). This goes for Democrats, Republicans, Liberals, Conservatives or a combination of the above, the American people aren’t suckers!
That’s why I’m pleading with my Liberal and Democratic friends to make a statement this electoral cycle and don’t vote for their party. I know it might be extremely difficult to vote for a Republican because of your philosophical differences therefore vote for a third party or don’t vote at all (just in this cycle). This might seem extreme but your party has lied to you (see examples below) and you need to tell them you’re mad as hell and you won’t take it anymore! We on the other side must be willing to make the same statement should our party come to power and blatantly lie. It’s time the power comes back to the people not the government elite.
(1) If you like your health insurance you can keep it (5 million have lost their health insurance 80 million are expected in the coming year(s))
(2) Your health insurance cost will go down by signing this bill
(3) This bill will not increase the deficit by one nickel. Maybe that wasn’t a lie it was a nickel but billions.
etc, etc, etc – Please note that your representatives were in charge of reading the bill before they signed the bill.
