Perfect Parking

parking space

Last night a gentlemen (used loosely) had a few words (not polite) to say to me concerning a parking space he claimed was his.  The war of the parking space has made many individuals either avoid going to a mall and/or made it extremely difficult to find your car after leaving the mall. That is until “Perfect Parking”.

Perfect Parking creates a manned system which enables those looking for a parking space and those parking to coordinate in a systematic way.  When individuals enter a mall they drive to a location where they are given an exact spot to park with a number (Example A-5, B-6) . These individuals choose this system because it’s the only way to enter the parking lot, will easily find their car after shopping and receive a discount or free sample from the stores located at the mall.  When an individual leaves the mall to go get their car they go to the “Perfect Parking” attendant who tells them exactly where they parked and gives them a discount card for further purchases at this facility. “Perfect Parking” receives their fees from the stores that operate in the mall because it helps them increase their business and insures good customer relations.   DO YOU BELIEVE IT’S TIME TO FIND “PERFECT PARKING”?

Oscars- review- Gravity

gravity 2

Gravity in one word “predictable”.  The special effects were amazing and sound score worked quite well with the action but the story was so predictable I don’t have a clue on how this is considered in the nomination of best movie of the year. Sandra Bullock did a fine job in her role but nothing outstanding and George Clooney played his typical role.   Just because a film has some great looking scenes doesn’t make it a great film.

Gravity gets  **  moon rockets. You can a half of a rocket for special effects.

Wall Street Journal Test- 2-08-14

Wall Street Journal

The  “Wall Street Journal” test returns but this time I’m only given myself an hour to read the paper.  I also will look at the paper for one minute before taking the test.

(1) Peggy Noonan wrote about the terroristic attack on our energy supply that occurred earlier in the year (see recent post) and the challenge this is to our national security.

(2) The U.N has helped remove civilians from the town on Hon’s who were caught in the middle of the civil war that is occurring in Syria.

(3) Stocks such as Wal-Mart, A T & T, and Apple computers are considered “safe” bets should the market continue to fall.

(4) A commentator wrote about how people seldom take the advise they are given.

(5) There was a wonderful article that described why Norway usually wins many of the winter Olympic medals. The reasons consist of cultural differences, weather conditions, and the spar city of certain towns.

(6) The U.N is seeking more information from Iran on  how their military is  working with the nuclear program they have created.

(7) The countries that have the most supporters in the winter Olympics consist of first Russia, then the U.S and third Canada.

(8)  The growth in jobs for the month of January was much lower then expected yet the unemployment rate still fell to 6.6 %

(9) There was a commentary saying that we need to update the way we figure out the unemployment rate to be more specific on the various groups that are unemployed if we are truly to help those that are unemployed.

(10) There is a company that allows individuals such as athletes to attach a camera to their equipment so that they can film live action. (Now I’m cheating)  It’s called Gopro inc and I’m going to look at buying this stock.

The Creationism vs Evolution Debate… as debators

BILL KEN

The Bill Nye & Ken Ham debate not only informs us about the facts on this topic but on how to be a better debater.  Here are just a few techniques these individuals used to try to prove their there points and who was more successful in utilizing these techniques.

(1) HUMOR- (Tie) They both tried to bring humor to the debate but let’s just say thank G-D they choose to be scientists instead of stand up comedians.

(2) ENTHUSIASM- (Bill Nye)- Mr Nye had an enthusiastic presentation that almost came across as if he was a preacher while Mr. Ham was more subdued or scientific.

(3) STYLE- (Ken Ham)-  Mr. Ham accent and choice of tie helped him edge out Bill Nye. I personally believe the bow tie doesn’t work in these type of formats.

(4) CHALLENGING (Bill Nye)- Bill would end his statements with always a challenging question to Ken Ham which Mr. Ham usually didn’t have an opportunity to answer because another questions was asked of him or just chose not to respond to. Mr. Ham did improve later in the debate but that was not before he sustained damage from his earlier performance.

(5) ATTITUDE (Ken Ham) Bill Nye came across as arrogant at points especially when he kept saying Ken Ham’s Creationist Theory.  Mr. Nye knows many people independently support Creationism and by personalizing this  belief he belittles those people. Ken Ham came across as more congenial and warm.

(6) POWER POINT (Tie) Ken Ham used his power point explanation mostly to show top scientists who agreed with him and bits of research that went his way.  Bill Nye generally used his power point presentation strictly on the facts as he saw it.  It’s a tough call because people want to know about other experts that agree with your points but they also want to know the facts.

TERRORIST ATTACK ON POWER PLANT- did this actually occur?

In a nutshell there is a report that there was a terrorist attack on a  Power Plant in California which included an assault by Snipers.  What is most troubling is that according to Fox News none of the snipers have been caught and that this might be done to prepare for a much larger attack on our infrastructure.

Should this be a sport?

Figure Skating

I know they are incredibly talented and I can’t imagine the hours they put into their performance but should figure skating be considered a sport. Figure skaters are judged by their performance like a dancer. not on their actual abilities. Most other sports do have judges that make decisions on if an athlete broke a rule not if they have performed well.   I also believe that if the common viewer can’t tell the difference between why someone wins and someone loses without commentary then this should be an artistic pursuit rather then a sport. This is why I believe that talented dancers are wonderful artists and can compete in artistic competitions but shouldn’t compete in athletic pursuits.  Of course if others enjoy it and consider it a sport then so be it. Therefore I will not mount any political campaign against figure skating I’ll probably just turn the channel to NASCAR. WHAT DO YOU BELIEVE AND WHY?

The end of a legacy.

Jay Leno 2Jay Leno

Click for information on Jay Leno’s last episode on the Tonight Show

Jay Leno began as a class act and ends his stint on “The Tonight Show” as a class act.  Every night he made his audience laugh on the topics of the day and conducted interviews in an easy going way that made you feel like they were just hanging out on your couch.  They might change the name but let’s not this talented individual fall by the waste side. I believe there is an opening for a late night host for  “Fox News”…. hint, hint
