Opening Day- CLOSED

Opening Day Freezing

I’m all for the rights of spring with the opening up of MLB season but it’s too cold!  Maybe we should have insisted everyone drive their car to work the day before because we need some global warming so the 1st ball thaws.  I know they’ll be serving hot chocolate and hot dogs but some heat outside would also help.  It’s fine no matter how cold it gets because I’ll be watching the game in my heated house and will strike out if I get tickets to opening day today.

NCAA Final Four -Guilt

March Madness

I have to be honest this season I haven’t been that mad with NCAA basketball. I’m sure it’s been just as exciting this year as years in the past but my excitement has gone in different directions films, family even dogs. The only dribbling I’ve been watching is the four legged type. It’s not that I don’t enjoy watching these teams compete it’s just that there is so much competition for my leisurely hours on and off the boob tube.   I know that is a foul in my sports world and hope to get it back before the final four comes along.  That is unless the remote or my dogs lead me down a different path to my hoop of happiness.

Jet’s VS Buffalo

jets vs bills

The Buffalo Bills beat the NY Jets 22-17 and I’m glad I didn’t watch it. Not only because I couldn’t decide which team to root for because the Jets have been my team from the beginning of my times but the Bills are truly the only NY Team but because they were playing in pajamas. What was with those uniforms I thought the color aspect of my T.V. had been blown up?  I understand the NFL wants to hip or retro but let’s focus on the game not these crazy uniforms Halloween was last month.

NY City Marathon-“Believe the hype”

Posted by Bruce - in Blog, Sports - No Comments

NYC Marathon

I know that I’m being cynical but if you actually watch the NY City Marathon you have to really believe the hype.  Of course it’s beautiful to see all these individuals running over/around many of NYC landmarks and we can’t underestimate the  endurance/strength of the individual completing such an endeavor but it’s running .  The media does a great job with the side stories and many of the T.V angles but when you think about it (maybe too much) there doing something you’ve done all your life and nobody put it on T.V.  I mean if there was some tackling or crashes along the way I could see the excitement and if  they were running on ice or a slippery surface well then it my interest would perk up.  Be at is may I congratulate all those who participate in this extraordinary task of endurance even if it’s boring for me to watch.

Met’s Fan Scary Halloween

Met's Halloween  biting nails

This Halloween it has become very scary for us Met’s Fans as we may face elimination or touch the edge of the knife this Halloween.  With our team 0-2 against the Kansas City Royals in this World Series many a Met fan will be biting their nails as they enter Friday’s nights game. If game one is any indicator the 3rd game might enter the midnight hour where our pitching will have to come alive from the dead.  The Zombie effect on our batting will also need some new blood as it seeks it from deep in the NYC woods. Where some lost Cubs will learn (G-D willing)  what real fear is as they enter our territory. Be afraid ! Be very afraid!

Met’s Loss- But still win

met's losss Met's Vs Kansas City.jpg 2

The Met’s loss to Kansas City 5-4 in extra innings was tough for a die hard Met Fan (me) that bleeds blue and Orange but there were some positive notes in my personal life that made it easier to bear.  It is best to find some positive in negative news that hits us in our daily lives.

(1) I can shave this beard that is itching me.

(2) Those T-Shirts I promised my associates will be delayed an extra day saving me $$’s.

(3) We learn more from our failures then successes. Hopefully the Met’s are learning.

(4) I fell asleep before I actually saw the loss. 14 innings, work and health don’t mix well.

(5) I didn’t get to see Mr. Met’s tears.

Murphy’s Law-reversed

Posted by Bruce - in Blog, Sports - No Comments

NY Mets

Murphy’s Law seems to depend on which team you are rooting for. If you are Dodgers Fan you have already had the Daniel version of it put on you and now the Cubs are feeling it as well. Yet we as Met’s fans have always seen the cup 1/2 full and that is why G-D willing our version of the Murphy’s Law will take us to the World Series and beyond.  Daniel Murphy has showed us Met’s fans that just when you thought everything was going to go wrong it can actually go very right, as a superstar can be come up just when we need one.

Mets Vs Cubs-Game 1-A lesson for us all

Met's Vs Cubs

It’s Illogical, Irrational and thoroughly unrealistic but the NY Met’s proved it could be done. For during the season the Mets lost every single game they played against the Chicago Cub (that’s 0 and 7) but some how managed to kick butt last night. Whenever anyone says it’s time to quit that you’re being illogical, irrational I want you to pull this memory out of your head and give it one last try because you might just have a NY Met experience as well.

Met’s VS Cubs- Late Conversions accepted

Posted by Bruce - in Blog, Sports - No Comments

Met's Vs Cubs  NY Mets

Yankee, Dodger, or hockey fans can make a last minute conversion to the NY Met’s up till 7:45 PM tonight. The game starts at 8:05 PM and you have to say M-E-T-S Mets, Mets, Mets slogan three times and be sprinkled with some beer for this to occur.  Those who decide to become more traditional fans will have to wear the attire including a Met’s insignia cap, shirt and jacket (some groups will accept the Jacket & Hat alone).   For it is not when you make your conversion but how loud and excited you will be that will determine whether you’re accepted into our family.   By the way some of the reform minded will accept conversion up to (G-D willing) the last out of the World Series.  It’s time you join us we may not save your soul but at least you’ll have some more fun in October.

Met’s Win!!! – A fan’s perspective

Posted by Bruce - in Blog, Sports - No Comments

Met's Win   NY Mets

If you are a true Orange & Blue blood Met’s Fan the Met’s already won.  I’m not just talking about the awesome win last night against the Dodgers 3-2  )which allowed them to take the playoff series but just the end of the regular season. For we Met’s fan who seen the ladder removed from us just as we were climbing, take nothing for granted (see below).

(1) Making the playoffs- Would have been enough- SCOOP OF DELICIOUS ICE CREAM

(2) Coming in 1st place- Would have been enough-  HOT FUDGE

(3) Winning a Playoff game at home- Would have been enough- MARSH MELLOW

(4) Winning a Playoff Series- Would have been enough- HOT BROWNIE

(5) Winning the Division- Would have been enough- WHIPPED CREAM

(6) Winning the World Series- CHERRY ON TOP

Let’s go Met’s !!!
