Philosophy

When is it time to decide to stop falling off ladders and just stay on ground level? I guess it depends on some degrees how much pain you can take and/or if there is someone to catch you when you fall?  It also can depend how high the fall is and how many ladders you have fallen from?

I continue to climb those ladders even after breaking a heart or two? I don’t know whether I’m into pain or just want something more out of my life but I’m not satisfied looking from the ground level. Maybe it’s because I’m shorter then the rest.  What I have determined after many falls is that I must be more careful on which ladder to climb. I must make sure that I have some type of support if I should fall. Most importantly I’ve determined that this ladder doesn’t have to impress the world just give me the satisfaction that I’ve achieved a bit more.  Once I climbed the top rung of that  ladder maybe then I can safely go down a few steps and enjoy the view.

Today when I woke up I looked in the mirror and although it wasn’t as drastic as the picture above I did notice an extra gray hair or wrinkle, see It’s my BDAY!  I hope that extra gray hair symbolizes extra wisdom that I gained through the years and that I will be able to share with others. I pray that this wisdom makes my family, friends, associates, strangers  think a bit deeper about a subject they have not considered, consider an opportunity that looked closed to them, or just make them laugh and enjoy life a bit more. Please note that this grey hair is just a symbol and I only need one the rest be colored blue (I want to stay hip).  The wrinkles are just annoying.

Our culture continues to promote that success is based on the items and things you’ve possessed not how you’ve achieve them.  We see that in movies such as “Wolf Of Wall Street” and “American Hustle” but what is most disturbing is that it’s coming from our top leaders. For example the President has pushed through Obamacare in the middle of the night and is breaking his law just to get to the goals he wants.  We have our constitutional right to unusual searches and seizures being violated by the same government that is supposed to protect those rights.  Financial bailouts have made fortunes for the criminals who have put our country in the mess we are in, whether they be in the banking, auto or housing industry.

It’s time we look at success in a whole new light. Let’s applaud the small or big business that treats it’s employees and customers with dignity and respect at the cost of a profit line.  Let’s champion the father and mother who takes care of a sick parent or child instead of sending them off to a nursing home.  Let us stand up and applaud the politicians who sticks to the highest moral code even when those in higher power do everything to stop them. We see these heroes everyday their sacrifice in doing what’s right might prevent them from having the hottest car, biggest house and their achievements might not appear as grand but rest assured  their small steps are paved with the gold of truth, justice and dignity.

I have mixed emotions now that my son is moving out to the college life. Of course I’m excited for the opportunity this move will allow him but I can’t honestly say I don’t have reservations.  It’s great that this move will make him more independent but I still remember him following me around asking him to pick him up.  Community college enables parents like me to allow our child to become a man without having to move out.

All I can do is tell him how much I love him, how proud I am of him and let him know that even know he’s away that I’m only a phone call away.  I can blame my mixed emotions on the worries that college life brings like the drugs, and partying, yet I trust my son. The truth is my mixed emotions are truly that  I worry I will miss him too much.

I’m not a fortune teller but if we take the pulse of the American people and observe recent history Hillary Clinton will not be our next President of the United States. There are several reasons I believe that is so (listed below) but that doesn’t mean we who oppose her for this office should sit back and relax. We need to understand that history can be broken and therefore must put up a  strong candidate who is a bit unique, well spoken, honorable, some experience, and has charisma.

(1) Almost every candidate that the media has picked to be the front runner this early has lost steam and fallen off. The only exception is George H.W. Bush and the economy was doing exceptionally well.

(2) When the party picks the candidate who is “owed the office” they lose. This has happened with candidates such as  Mitt Romney,  Gerald Ford, Walter Mondale, Michael Dukakis.

(3) The dark horse with Charisma usually fights to the finish line but pulls ahead at the last minute. We can look at Barrack Obama &  Ronald Reagan as perfect examples.

WHAT DO YOU BELIEVE?

Imagine if we all went through boot camp.  We would not only be physically stronger but just if not more important mentally stronger. In boot camp you get dressed down so you can stay cool even in the toughest battle conditions. Imagine if we were that strong in our daily life we wouldn’t be “offended” by every other word that was spoken. We could focus on the task at hand no matter what was in our way.  The brotherhood and sisterhood of accomplishing a task would build to more success within the team. This sounds great where do I sign up!   Uh oh I’m 20 years too late but I have a plan called PPC that could build such character. Details coming soon…..

Throughout our lives we start with one dream and then usually that dream dies but the key to keep going is to have another dream in a different pocket. In life we must therefore have many pockets.  We can not get crushed when a dream collapses but instead realize what we’ve learned from the adventure and try to use those lessons to build on a different goal.

Many of us start with the  dream of being President of the United States, or a famous movie star or even the leader of a rock & roll band. When the acting offers don’t come in many can still modify their dreams by performing for a local theatre group while making a living for their family.  When our race for school President fails we can instead decide that political office may not be for office but we can still get involved in local issues.  We might not have the opportunity to perform in a rock and roll band but maybe we can open our own bar and play with a local band on occasions.  In life many dreams may die but there death leads to a new life with many opportunities we never saw coming.
