chargers vs bengals

I’m sorry but I’m glued to the T.V. but it’s not my fault it’s the NFL.  I’m a proud NFL playoff addict and am not giving up the habit. In between watching the game I do the wash, write this blog and occasional go to the bathroom eating is prohibited unless you count beer.  Go Chargers ! Go!!

Naked …. in my dreams

THIS IS HOW I FEEL EXCEPT MY EARS ARE SMALLER

I always wear my PJ’s to bed but usually find myself naked upon closing my eyes.  I’m not literally naked but it sure feels that way as I walk to stores and then realize I forgot my clothes. I can’t imagine how come I keep having these reoccurring dreams, although I might tend to lose my phone or keys the pants haven’t been a problem, accept when the eyes shut.  Last night I’m naked with my family  outside on a street corner. The strangest part is nobody even notices.  I  tell my wife it’s her responsibility to make sure I don’t walk outside naked but I’d think I could remember this especially with a cold wind.  I’m the type of person who wears thermals as soon as the temperature goes below 40 degrees so why and I’m so comforting being naked then.  I found a solution though I’m going to bring an extra pair of clothes to bed one for the real world and one for the dream world.

Journal Note 3- 1/4/14

PAST:  I have had a spiritual journey that has led me through all the various forms of Judiasm and gave me more then a glancing look at Christianity.  I was brought up as reform synagogue and if there was a way to fail out before your Bar Mitzvah I would have found that way. The Synagogue reminded me more of a Church then a Shul because they had a choir, organ and there was more English then Hebrew. My family only went to services twice a year so I experimented with listening to televangilist such as Pat Robertson, Billy Graham etc.  I also dabled in the occult like reading palms and Ouija Board.

My Bar Mitzvah was not without controversy as the President of the Men’s Club wouldn’t allow me to wear the Talis that my parents brought back for me from Israel because they said the person I was sharing the Bar Mitzvah with didn’t have it. The entire choir had Talis but wouldn’t allow my friend to wear one. What made matters worse was that the rabbi wouldn’t get involved even though there was no religious reason for this view.

My must uncomfortable religious moment came when I attended Bryant University (was College in my days). I went to services during the high holidays and the rabbi took a Pro-Abortion stand. I felt that this was wrong to bring up during holidays and also told the rabbi that I felt differently on this issue. When I said my pro-life position made me feel like I don’t belong in the faith the Rabbi said I didn’t belong.  His coldness really hurt me.

Upon leaving college I experimented with various forms of Judiasm. I went to services held by those of Jewish Scientology as well as an Orthodox Shul that had beginning Sabbath Services. Upon my move to my current location I moved to a Conservative Synagogue where I raised my children. Although I didn’t wasn’t deeply involved in the Synagogue  I had a great relationship with the Rabbi even though our political philophosies couldn’t be more different. Unfortunately that didn’t hold true for other members of the Synagogue who wouldn’t allow me to co-moderator a debate with a Democratic when they found out I was in the Tea Party. I started seriously considering leaving the Synagogue after  I was again invited to Co-Moderator the next year only to see my invitation pulled away after being called an extremist. Personal events added to that decision and we explored various Synagogues in the area. This has led me to my current Shul.  It is a Shul I wish I had found when I was younger. The rabbi is extremely warm, understanding and knowledgeable on the Torah. The congregants are some of the finest people that I have ever met and am proud to call many of them my friend.

PRESENT:  Great time at Shul today where I participated in some deep discussions with the rabbi and congregants. I started looking for a new dog as I went a local animal shelter and explored options online.  I went to dinner with sister and brother-in-law while watching one of the greatest football games ever Chiefs vs Colts.

FUTURE: I plan to do some routine household chores, work on an outline for a new script, work on a short I hope to produce new weekend, go to the gym and do work for the Shul. I’m tired already.

He loved it (and the banana)   He doesn’t like jewish humor/   He didn’t get it

WARNING-This is a 2nd hand joke I got from my Rabbi with a few un kosher additions)

A man asks his neighbor if he could use his apartment to do the wash since his machine broke down. The man says of course but I have a Pit Bull named “Spot” that you can pet but please, please ignore whatever my parrot says.  The man agrees and brings the wash over. He pets Spot and proceeds to put in the wash when the parrot speaks  ” Hey what are you crazy you can’t mix the white’s and colors”. The man ignores the parrot yet the parrot continues “Those underwear are disgusting don’t you ever wipe your butt”. The man takes a deep breath and exhales but the parrot won’t shut up “You’re wife is going to leave you ha ha”. The man explodes ” You stupid parrot at least I’m free you’re locked up in that cage and…” The man smiles as he feels he’s got his revenge the parrot responds with only 3 words” . “Kill Spot Kill”.

The Wall Street Journal Test for 1/04/14

Wall Street Journal

Today’s  “Wall Street Journal” test will have 2 parts. Part one will consist of all the facts that I have absorbed from reading the paper for over an hour without looking back at the paper  The 2nd part will occur right after I glance at the paper. Here goes part one (please also note my son’s drum playing in the background might be a distraction)

(1) Colleges need to lower cost and make modifications if they are to be viable in the future. This article stated that more classes should be taken online and there should be specific types of certificates for skills that are truly needed in the “real world” without having to receive a full diploma.

(2) Iraqi is trying to recapture 2 cities that were taken over by Sunni linked elements some tied to Al Queda groups in Syria.

(3) You shouldn’t invest in funds that have good returns over one year because they could easily fail in the next year but instead look to funds that have been consistently good for over 15 years.

(4) Peggy Noonan believes that the new mayor in NYC Bill De Blasio is way to the left and also will divide the city instead of unite it.  She uses statements made during his inauguration speech to support her argument.

(5) There was a strong case made for raising the minimum wage up to $15 an hour which included that we as citizens pay in taxes the government subsides employees who make subservient wages currently receive.

(6) The President is trying to get hi tech individuals to help advance government programs instead of relying on the agencies current staff to make those changes.

(7) The President has enacted 2 Executive Orders to prevent those with serious mental health issues from obtaining firearms. The NRA and other pro-gun groups have held back criticism of these actions till they see the fine print.

(8) President Obama’s agenda for the rest of his administration will have to be enacted very shortly if he is to get it passed by Congress. This is because Congress will soon be worry about the next election cycle instead of enacting legislation.

(9) The NFL is doing well with those that watch the event from their television screens but is having difficulty selling out tickets for the actual playoff games.  Some claim that it is because the schedule is put up too late while others say it is the cost of the tickets.

NOW LET’S SEE WHAT I MISSED OR PART 2

(1) How exciting it still is to become an American Citizen

(2) Many people from Hong Kong love to look at double decker buses

(3) There has been a crackdown in China of Meth labs and those that use these drugs

(4) U.S. car sales are the highest since 2007

(5) Egypt has had the largest crackdown on the Muslim Brotherhood in recent time.

My head hurts I think it’s time for my nap or a cup of coffee.

How does the Obama Administration spin this headline?

Justice Department Squares Off Against Nuns In Supreme Court Challenge Over Birth Control Exemption

This administration has been able to spin almost any current event but this headline is really going to be hard.  I mean fighting Nuns really doesn’t look good no matter what side you’re on. If you were in the administration how would you spin it in one sentence?

What do you think?

There has been a big push to say that there are no serious ill effects on the use of pot and t it  actually has a medicinal use.  I figured this video could showcase a different point of view.  What do you think?
