Suicide touches too close to home.

I live in fairly affluent middle class neighborhood but with all the benefits we experience two young friends of my family still have decided to end their lives.  Of course these individuals were troubled but weren’t there resources that these young people could have grasped that would have prevented them from ending their lives?  Where was the community whether it be through clergy, school or just a neighbor to help befriend such a troubled youth? It’s time that we do more to help those who are suffering it doesn’t take a village just a group of caring friends and family to make that difference. Let us pledge to lend a hand or shoulder to our youth that need a helping hand.

The Stupidest Award Show.

people choice

What is the purpose of “The People’s Choice Awards”?  All you have to do is look at a local newspaper to find out what is the most popular  music, movies and television shows.  We also can find the award winners in music by turning on our radio and hearing that same song repeated hour after hour.   Most award shows have some type of suspense but the only suspense you have here is what will Taylor Swift be wearing. I finally figured out who this show is geared for; time travelers, people locked in their closet and those that have decided to give their brain a night off.

Journal Note- 1-09-14

These journal notes are getting more difficult as I must decide whether to add a new one or sleep.

PAST: CHARITY -I’ve always believed in you’ve gained something you should give something back. That is why I’ve donated time and monies to various charities in my life that I believe can make a difference. The first charity I donated to was the North Shore Animal League because of my love of dogs and concern with the way they are treated. It is quite an eclatic group of charities that I have donated to from Amnesty International to the Local Boyscouts. I feel that it is important to play a role in making people’s lives better wherever you can.

I have volunteered for many different organizations. I spent many Sunday’s volunteering at St Francis Soup Kitchen in NYC but in an unusual role.  I was the one who helped these individuals try to find employment. It was disconcerning to see how few people actuallly went up to my table looking for work. The most enjoyable volunteer work that I did was for an organization called NY Cares. NY Cares enabled to take disadvantegious children to various events and locations so as the Bronx Zoo or Roller Skating. My family has gone to a local Senior Citizen Center and the VA Hospital to give out small gifts on Christmas Day.  We also went to Costa Rica to work at an orphanage. This Christmas I volunteered at “Meals For Wheels” and was shocked to find out how many people in my community went hungry on a daily basis.

PRESENT/YESTERDAY – I got my daughter a beautiful business outfit for a competition she has today for DECA.  I put together many bids including one for 20,000 smoke alarms going to Japan. I’ve been working to develop a plan for PPC , a short that should be produced this Sunday and my Birthday Bash.

FUTURE:   I’d like to get involved in a charity that works on insuring basic freedom for all G-D’s children.

embarrassed 2

I’m sorry to embarrass you.

I guess I forgot to take an extra pair of clothes to bed last night because I had another naked dream but this time their was no excuse because it occurred at work.  I actually felt cold at work. To make matters worse when I finally found my clothes I only put on my shirt.  What did I think I was a cartoon “Where’s the pants”?  If I’m going to have a naked dream it should be a bit more fun… right? Thank G-D it was only a dream and I can go to work realizing…. where’s is my wallet?

Who should serve?

Israel army

There is a great deal of debate on if the clergy and those that are studying should have to serve in the armed forces. Until recently those who are Ultra Orthodox have avoided service by claiming that they are serving their country in a different way by serving the Torah that it upholds. There is biblical text to support their argument as Moses and a few of the faithful prayed to Hash-m/G-D when the people were fighting Amalekites.

Yet we also must note the term is a few. How do we determine the size of those that pray on behalf of a people fighting and those that are actually called to fight?  I believe that the top clergy should decide. This decision should not only be based on test of their top students but acts of great faith and kindness.  For a country doesn’t secure it’s peace just on the battlefield but on the values that it upholds.

Christie Assessment

christie

I’ve had mixed feelings about Chris Christie and tonight adds to that confusion. I applaud Christie for standing strong and stating the facts in plain language that nobody can ignore. Yet by having such as bombastic tone I believe Governor Christie might unintentionally make those in his staff belief “anything goes” in “getting the job done”.  This could lead to people in his administration believing that it’s not only okay but right to punish those who disagree with him. We have seen Christie’s relentless antagonistic attacks  not only on those from the opposite viewpoint but those from his own party need I say Rand Paul or Ted Cruz. I respect differing points of view in the party but they should be handled with respect and as friends.

It is impossible for one Governor to know everything that is occurring in his state but when the main artery in his state is “closed for business” he should be aware and take immediate actions. At the same time everyone makes mistakes so I don’t believe it’s just  to pass judgment on Governor Christie for this one blemish of his fine record. Judgment must be based on the overall record of success that an individual brings and how they are able to overcome  controversies and problems that arise.

At the same time we have to be impressed with the current way the Governor is handling the bridge controversy by accepting blame right away and forcing resignations of those that are responsible. Governor Christie also had a press conference that lasted an hour, just on this controversy alone, while I believe the current occupant of the White House hasn’t held a press conference lasting an hour even if you combined all his controversies together ( Benghazi,  NSA, IRS etc etc)  If only those in the White House would follow his advise we would have a new Attorney General and Cabinet.

Journal Note 1-08-14

Last night was a bit too late.

PAST: Growing up my mother made sure we also had a balance diet.  Dinner started with a fruit like Melon or Grapefruit then proceeded with salad and finally the main course. My mom is an awesome cook and she made a variety of dishes which included Chicken Parmigiana, Pot Roast, 1890 Chicken (my favorite), Ham (sorry Rabbi), Lamb Chops,  Lobster Tails (sorry Rabbi again) and  Leg of Lamb (2nd Favorite). For dinner we had three different choices of juices for the family I was an apple juice lover. We went out for dessert for ice cream or dunkin donuts on occasion. My favorite ice cream place was “Baskin Robbins” because they always had a new unique flavor.

PRESENT/YESTERDAY – We saw the location for our film shoot on Sunday and met the owner. It looks like we’re going to have loads of fun.  I also stood my ground with several individuals that have not lived up to my expectations.

FUTURE- I’m planning to take my check up blood test today, work on many bids,  and get some supplies for our shoot on Sunday.
