Is Ted Cruz and the Tea Party Heroes or Villains

ted cruz

I believe there is certain criteria (see below) that you need to meet to be considered a hero. First of all do you take a stand on an issue just because you believe it is right not because it is popular? Are you willing to stand alone among your peers stating your case even to the ridicule of the political elite and their media cronies? Are the actions you take based on truly trying to help those who might even disagree with you rather then look for score political points?

Ted Cruz like many in his party (including me) believe that Obamacare will do more harm then good for our nation. We believe that many of the people who voted for the President will actually suffer the most. While most people from the political elite of the party felt that Obamacare should be fully implemented so that the American people would feel the pain and then vote their way Ted Cruz and his allies took the pain today to try stop it from hurting the American people in the first place.  They were willing to sacrifice their political careers to fight for what they believe was right today. Therefore I conclude Ted Cruz and his allies are the heroes in this story but the world may never know because we continue to root for what’s popular instead of what is right.

Elected officials- employers

DN16-CITIZEN-3AHdeclaration of indep

Elected officials should realize that they work for all the citizens they represent not just the ones that voted for them. This means that elected officials shouldn’t betray those citizens or their representatives that they disagree with in hateful and belligerent terms. They instead must carefully listen to the oppositions  concerns and the way they see the world instead of automatically reject their point of views.  Elected officials must actively seek to persuade and debate those who might disagree with their policy not just speak to their supporters.  Most importantly those in elected office should not seek the destruction of the opposition/minority party but find common ground so everyone can feel like they’re a winner.  To conclude we expect our elected officials to be individuals with strong convictions that they  should uphold but also be willing to listen and care for all their constituents/employees

Conspiracy Theory of the Day

Conspiracy

Could it be that Limousine Liberals actually want to keep certain people down so that they can stay up? If individuals with talent are led to believe that they can’t make it without a government check then these individuals will lose all motivation to even compete. This will insure that those with the power and wealth will keep their rewards  without “unnecessary” competition. Certain elements  within this elite group will even gain monies and power  by “lobbying for the disadvantaged” through legal fees and political appointments.  If these “disadvantaged individuals” realize that they have the power within to make a difference without the elite services then those individuals will lose their benefits.  Just something to think about before your morning coffee. What do you think?

Success- How do you spell it?

success

I’ve always wondered what success truly means. Is it the amount of toys you own whether it be a fancy car, a Rolex watch, a beautiful house etc?   Like any proud capitalist I love my  toys but I don’t think you can measure success  by this criteria because items get old and it gets harder and harder to keep up with the Trumps. Popularity has also seemed like it might give me that feeling of success but times change and what is popular today may not be popular in the future. It must feel great then to have the power to make incredible changes but with greater power becomes greater responsibility and also more pains in the neck and in the… So how can you measure success if none of these criteria actually achieve this goal. I believe it is simple “Exceed your Expectations.

Others have expected you to achieve certain “realistic” goals in your life based on the talents and abilities you have, it is time that you exceed those goals. You can exceed those goals by being a better husband or father then others expected or by being a better boss or employer or simple being a better person then the world had expected.  Therefore you don’t have to be a “Rock Star”, “Donald Trump”, or President to be truly a success you can be yourself with just a little plus and your success will shine through it all.

Fiscal Cliff- A different perspective

fiscal cliff

Many people who are opposed to raising the debt ceiling believe that is the only true leverage they have in getting the President to truly make significant cuts in our deficit. These individuals believe that the President will only act if their is a crisis right around the corner and therefore he is forced to move. Yet I wonder if you don’t trust the President to act until the brink of a crisis why would you trust him to act if there truly is one?

We have seen how the President has caused  undue duress to the American people during the government shut down just to hurt the Republicans then why wouldn’t he up the ante if you don’t pass the debt ceiling.  I believe we might have to pass a short term debt ceiling and fund  the government  but with the following provisions (below). This will insure that the cards are still in the people’s hand.

(1) Agree to the debt ceiling for 6 months and to fund the government for a six month period as long as a panel of Democrats and Republicans are selected to deal with the problems in the deficit (change in entitlements) , increase revenue (tax simplification, growth programs etc) and problems with Obamacare.

(2) The agreement that this panel puts together must be voted on intact by both the Senate and the House without any amendments.

(3) If it passes the House and Senate then the President agrees in advance to sign this legislation

If the President and Senate refuse to go along with this modest proposal then the blame squarely is on them. If on the other hands legislators vote against this bi-partisan agreement then the people will send them home during the next election cycle.
