Preventing Unwanted Pregnancies

Plan First    If we are truly want to limit/end abortions then we must provide the tools to prevent these acts from occuring in the first place. We have to realize that those who are most vulnerable in our society are the most likely to have unwanted pregnancies. Therefore not only must we educate them on abstinence but provide them the tools that they need if they ignore such advise. For the government’s prime goal is to protect it’s citizens born and unborn. These following steps would help to insure this occurs.

1) Parents, community and local religious leaders are notified about the classes (below) their children are taking and how they can have a roll in them. Parents are also given the chance to have their children opt out of such classes.

2) Young people are taught the dangers and the moral prospective of sexual activities.

3) Those young people are given a test to make sure they fully understand those principles.

4) These young people are given a photo I.D card which enables them to recieve birth control devices and procedures to prevent pregancy at discounted prices and at various locations.

Strange Laws

We are forbidden to smoke in many locations, forced to wear a seat belt, not allowed to eat transfat etc all in the goal of saving our bodies but we are permitted to kill a separate beating heart in that body?

Taco Bell’s “Cantina Bell Burritto” rings my bell ****

Cantina Burrito Chicken

Taco Bell’s Cantina Bell Chicken Burrito is a perfect match of flavors.   The crust was flavorful but light while the combination of vegetables was enhanced by the gaucomola.  The burrito was full of a variety of vegetables, rice and beans. What was remarkable was that their was not even an ounce of oil that could be seen! Although I added a bit of hot sauce to the meal it truly didn’t need it, I guess I was just in a spicy mood.

Most “food critics” ridicule fast food entries but I beg to differ.  These restaurant chains spend millions and endless hours trying to perfect the perfect dish for their clientel, in a highly competitive market. Then they spend the same monies and time marketing there products. Finally millions of their fellow citizens will be in the market to try such dishes. Therefore I believe even the most snobbish critic should take the time to review their food entries and if they won’t then I will.

Corruption needs to end from the left and right!

It is wrong that disgraced politicians such as Elliot Spitzer, Mark Sanford, and Anthony Weiner have been re-elected or are serious candidates for office.  Don’t get me wrong everyone deserves forgiveness but not without true contrition. It is not good enough for a politician to ask for forgiveness one minute and then run for office the next. We must demand some form of retribution from any disgraced politician.

1) Politicians who leave office in disgrace must pay a fine of at least one week of their salary. This disgrace can occur whether this politician resigns or has been officially censored or any other official notices of misconduct.

2) Disgraced Politicians are unable to run for any political office for at least two terms after they have left office.

3) These individuals must perform voluntary community service for 6 months in one of the areas that were either effected by their actions or could have been affected by their actions.

4) Politicians who are impeached from office are forbidden to run or be appointed for elected office for at least 4 terms (all other conditions also must apply)

China taking over building by building…

Largest building in the world opens in China – complete with indoor seaside

Chengdu’s New Century Global Centre has its own beach resort, cinemas, shops – and a replica Mediterranean village

Beneath smoggy clouds in the Chinese mega-city of Chengdu, waves lap against sandy shores and a salty breeze blows across the beach. 6,000 holidaymakers look out on a glowing sunset, dining on platters of “the rarest oceanic fish species”, while a stage rises from the water, ready for the evening’s multimedia music spectacular. China‘s fourth largest city may be 620 miles from the coast, but that hasn’t stopped it having its own seaside – newly opened inside the biggest building in the world.

A 100m tall cliff-face of blue mirrored glass, stretching 500m along a triumphal plaza, the New Century Global Centre houses an entire seaside resort, along with a 14-screen Imax cinema, Olympic-sized ice rink, two five-star hotels and its own Mediterranean shopping village – all wrapped with a vast ribbon of offices. Sprawling for 1.7m square metres, it could fit 20 Sydney Opera Houses beneath its glass roof. It is declared by its creators to be “a landmark which commands the world and is looked upon by the world with respect,” a pleasure dome that Kubla Khan could only dream of.

Positioned at the heart of the city’s Tianfu district, a new hub for finance, IT and biochemical industries, the building squats like an overfed prize fowl, teetering out in all directions and looming above a neighbouring art centre by Zaha Hadid – a dwarf in comparison, at 140,000 square metres. Its design, say the developers, is “themed with a comprehensive and profound oceanic culture and inspired by the design concept of sailing seagulls and undulating waves”.

‘A landmark which commands the world and is looked upon by the world with respect’. On entering the echoing 18-storey atrium, lined with a stratified cream cake of hotel balconies and zig-zagging escalators, visitors are blasted with artificial sea breeze, designed to “make one intoxicated, as if he were enjoying himself in the fabulous heaven”. Moving past aquarium walls and through a strange hybrid townscape of Polynesian huts crossed with a middle eastern kasbah, tourists arrive at the 400m-long coastline, where the largest artificial waves in the world break in front of the longest LED screen in the world – on which “the alternating morning cloud and twilight afterglow extend the horizon limitlessly in the temporal and spatial directions”.

But nor might they be able to escape their work: “It is a world class modern city of idyllic beauty,” trumpets the promotional video, “where recreation has become the core value of modern business concepts and business will become a way of life.”

Fortune Tellers move to blood

The revolutionary blood test that could predict how long you’ll live, what ailments you’ll get – and how fast you’ll age

  • Chemical ‘fingerprint’ in the blood could provide clues to health later in life
  • Metabolites indicate future lung function, bone density, and blood pressure
  • Could pave the way for new treatments for age related conditions

A revolutionary new blood test could tell you how long you will live, and how quickly you will age.

Scientists have discovered a chemical ‘fingerprint’ in the blood that may provide clues to an infant’s health and rate of ageing near the end of life.

The discovery raises the prospect of a simple test at birth that could help doctors stave off the ravages of disease in old age.

A revolutionary new blood test could tell you how long you will live, and how quickly you will age, thanks to a chemical ‘fingerprint’ in your blood

It could lead to the development of powerful new treatments for age related conditions such as bone problems and heart disease.

Scientists identified 22 metabolites, small molecules linked to metabolism, that may be useful indicators of how we can expect to grow old.

One in particular, linked to a range of traits including lung function, bone density, blood pressure and cholesterol levels, was singled out by the researchers.

It is also strongly associated with birth weight – itself a known determinant of healthy ageing.

Levels of this metabolite, C-glyTrp, could reflect accelerated ageing in later adulthood, the scientists believe.

Higher levels of the molecule were associated with lower weight at birth in comparisons between pairs of identical twins.

Since identical twins share the same genes, this suggests that levels of the metabolite are altered by nutrition or different conditions in the womb.

Study leader Professor Tim Spector, from King’s College London, said: ‘Scientists have known for a long time that a person’s weight at the time of birth is an important determinant of health in middle and old age, and that people with low birth weight are more susceptible to age related diseases.

‘So far the molecular mechanisms that link low birth weight to health or disease in old age had remained elusive, but this discovery has revealed one of the molecular pathways involved.’

Professor Spector’s team analysed blood samples donated by more than 6,000 twins.

Scientists found 22 metabolites, small molecules linked to metabolism, that may be indicators of how we will age. Some are strongly linked to birth weight suggesting this can be an important factor in health later in life

The researchers identified 22 metabolites directly linked to chronological age, with higher concentrations in older than in younger people.

Further work showed that the gene influencing levels of C-glyTrp could be modified by epigenetics, a process whereby environmental factors switch genes on or off and alter their activity.

The epigenetic changes may influence metabolism during a person’s lifetime, thereby affecting susceptibility to age-related diseases.

The findings are published today in the International Journal of Epidemiology.

Co-author Dr Ana Valdes, also from King’s College London, said: ‘Human ageing is a process influenced by genetic, lifestyle and environmental factors, but genes only explain a part of the story.

‘Molecular changes that influence how we age over time are triggered by epigenetic changes. This study has for the first time used analysis of blood and epigenetic changes to identify a novel metabolite that has a link to birth weight and rate of ageing.

‘This unique metabolite, which is related to age and age-related diseases, was different in genetically identical twins that had very different weight at birth. This shows us that birth weight affects a molecular mechanism that alters this metabolite.

‘This may help us understand how lower nutrition in the womb alters molecular pathways that result in faster ageing and a higher risk of age-related diseases 50 years later.

‘Understanding the molecular pathways involved in the ageing process could ultimately pave the way for future therapies to treat age-related conditions.

‘As these 22 metabolites linked to ageing are detectable in the blood, we can now predict actual age from a blood sample pretty accurately and in the future this can be refined to potentially identify future rapid biological ageing in individuals.’

Dealing with reality vs dealing with a dream

Posted by Bruce - in Blog, Health - No Comments

It is difficult to go through life having expectation on others based  on what your “dream expectation” are.  Dream expectations are those expectations you see from watching other members of your family, community and/or celebrities act. When an individual lives in this world they often are disappointed with the results in the real world. Everyone has their strengths and weaknesses and if we don’t accept them as a whole we will always be disappointed. Therefore if you’re with an individual who is shy expect some quiet evenings and learn to deal with it by learning to reading, writing and or going to the movies.  If someone is suffering from depression don’t expect them to just “get out of it” but be happy when they learn to get better control of their sickness.   Therefore  If we took more time worrying about how we dealt with situations rather then worrying about others react to them we  would be much happier

Success may not be what you think it is.

It is not what you achieve in life that makes you a success it is what you believe you’ve achieved in your life that grants you that satisfaction. There are people who constantly strive to get the love and affection of others by trying to satisfy what those individuals believe is success without looking into what they truly believe is the truth. Pressures from society, friends, and even family can add to this constant pressure. I believe success is achieved when you can give your loved ones the opportunity to make it in this world and at the same utilize your G-D given gifts to try to make this world a bit better any chance you get.

Traveling far to come home

Posted by Bruce - in Blog - No Comments

I recently went on a trip to Indianapolis to visit a good friend and his family. We hadn’t seen each other in over 10 years but because of the love and warmth his family extended to mine it felt like it was only yesterday. This trip taught me that we don’t have travel the world or work endlessly to find meaning in our life it can found simply by spending some good time with family and or friends.
