Christians attack

Across various sections of this globe Christians are being attacked and killed for their faith … this must stop!  We can not close our eyes to the brutality that is occurring in countries such as Syria, Iraq, Nigeria and Egypt. Yesterday Christians in Bagdad were slaughtered as they tried to practice their faith in peace. I ask when will this senseless violence end?

As a person of the Jewish faith I implore those of all faiths to come together and defend every human souls right to pray in peace . The world must stop giving economic aid to countries that don’t properly defend all their citizens.  When one attacks an individual of faith no matter what the faith they attack all of us of faith. It’s time we stand together and say enough is enough.

Contracted Rabbi

Posted by Bruce - in Blog, Faith, Philosophy - No Comments

In the “modern” Jewish Shul a rabbi is given a contract to work for a certain amount of years for a particular shul and then must have their contract be renewed if they are to continue working at that Shul. This contract basis makes it difficult for the Rabbi to bring up significant points that might be controversial especially if it affects or offends those in leadership position at this Shul.  I believe if we truly want to understand the faith this practice should be stopped.

A rabbi should build a Shul around their core values and those that support those values should join his/her Shul. If a rabbi violates certain moral principals (stealing, drug abuse, sexual abuse) they should be dismissed from office but only those specific issues.  Once that Rabbi moves on then the next Rabbi serves with respect to the core values but could add or enhance those values as well. If members of the congregation don’t like the direction the new Rabbi is taking the Shul they can leave to form their own Shul and adopt a new rabbi.

Rabbi & Imam seek peace

rabbi and imam

On Monday December 16th my Shul “Shaarey Israel” held a meeting of two of the major faiths Islam & Judaism to see not only how we can co-exist but strive together. Rabbi Stengel mentioned that G-D loves all his people and that they all have a special place on this earth and the afterlife.   Imam Syed Ali said that if one is take one life it is like they have killed the world and said that we must seek common ground and build on it.   Many might consider me naïve but I believe that if we could build on relationships like this we would not only find peace together but happiness and success. This I believe is G-D’s calling upon all his children.

Please note a member of the Christian community was also invited but due to sickness wasn’t able to attend. G-D willing they’ll be present at future events.

The Imam is the man with the largest skull cap.

rabbi, priest

Sorry this isn’t a bar joke.

On Monday December 16th 7-8PM a Rabbi, Priest and Imam will appear at Congregation Shaarey Israel- 18 Montebello Road in Montebello NY. I would love for you to join us for the discussion on how we not only can coexist but strive together. As a person of the Jewish Faith I believe that this is  the path G-D wants me and my fellow Jews to travel but just like there are different ways to cut an onion I believe there are different paths to salvation. We all enjoy different types of music and food why wouldn’t G-D put up a different path for those from different personalities and or different cultures? WHAT DO YOU BELIEVE- PLEASE SHARE- DISCUSS

Established Religion

crack in the ground

This country has been founded on the concept of freedom of religion. Where every citizen could find their own path to G-D without the state imposing there faith upon them. Yet there are cracks being found  in that basic principal. These cracks are due to the religion of the state is imposing  their faith on others that don’t share their faith or deny the practice of faith as a whole.  It is important that all citizens whether they practice one or another faith or don’t practice any faith at all, fight to insure that even those they may disagree without have the right to the faith they believe in. Here are just a few examples (below) of how the cracks are occurring.

2. Click to find how a person of faith was forced to provide a service against their faith

Freedom is Faith

faith

Many of my friends believe that my faith places too many restrictions on me but I see it as true freedom.  My faith doesn’t permit me to eat certain foods, makes me observe certain customs and take off certain days of work but that is far less restrictive then those who don’t have faith.  Here are just a few ways faith gives you freedom.

(1) Others feel they are judged by many people and feel restricted because of their judgment while those of faith only have to worry about being judged by G-D

(2) Those without faith worry about keeping up with their neighbors while those of faith only worry about following the truth.

(3) People without faith are enslaved with feelings of guilt and being unsure of their role in life but people with faith know that G-D has a special role for them and that forgiveness is easily obtained.

(4) People with faith feel free even in the end because they believe that this is only one step while those without worry every step because they never know when those steps will end.

A story worth repeating

standing alone

This Sabbath (Saturday) I will be giving the Divrei Torah (Sermon) for my Shul(Synagogue) Shaarey Israel 18 Montebello Rd, Suffern, NY at around 11 AM. I want to warmly invite you to attend because I will be speaking about one of the most significant figures in my life from the Torah(bible) Joseph. Joseph story has inspired me during some of the difficult moments of my life and continues to play a large part of who I am. For those who can’t attend please read the story and think about these points (below).

1. Importance of knowing what to say, who to say it too, and how to say it.

2. Importance of holding your faith in some of the most difficult times.

3. Realize that  people must act not just expect G-D to act on our behalf

4. Sometimes in life you must stand alone even with family

5. Forgiveness is something that is not only good for those that do it but those that give it.

6. The danger of group-think

Judging faith

Scary storm 1

Most faiths belief that there’s is the only one true path to salvation some even say if you don’t follow their faith you will go to hell. I believe G-D has more then one path to salvation because he created different people(s) that would see the truth differently.  Those various people would have different charismatic leaders that would bring them to the Hash-m.  Yet in the end as long as long you follow the basics of faith which are common in all major faith systems you will be on the right path to salvation. One path might be a bit shorter then the other but in the end we can all get there.

End of Times a Jewish Version

end of times

I recently spoke at a discussion on the “End Of Times A Jewish Version” . I was called in to lead this discussion since the Rabbi got sick.  Here are a few tidbits on this discussion (below) and a website (click below) for additional information.

(1) There will be great turmoil in the world before the Moshiach/Messiah (recessions around the world, and dictators will control countries )

(2) The Moshiach will be bring various factions of Judaism together and bring them back to Israel where the Temple will be rebuilt

(3) People’s of the world will recognize the Moshiach/Messiah and all the world will seek G-D.  There will be peace, great technological advances and the economy will do well.

(4) People will return from the dead. The most holy may return as soon as   Moshiach  arrives and  many others after 40 years of his reign.
