It was a battle in my mind would I let my philosophical opinion overall true art? I’m proud to say in this case art won. For although “Atlas Shrugged” is one of the cornerstones on which I rest my philosophy the third edition is truly an embarrassment that should be put in a deep dark vault not to be opened unless someone needs a good laugh. I tried desperately to find a redeeming value in this film but was left blank. From poor acting to horrible sets this is one of the worst renditions of a book that I’ve ever scene. Thank G-D I was wise enough to pick up a free copy at the library. Some books are not met to me movies whether it be “The Kite Runner” , “Bonfire of the Vanities and now I’m sorry to report that “Atlas Shrugged Part III must be added to that list. Read the book instead it’s great, well at least until the end when it gets a bit too preachy.
Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating
Whether you love it or hate it the Hot Dog Eating Contest has become a part of the NY if not the nations cultural for July 4th. Who would think an event of such gluttony would endure such fans? Yet the preparations to do such battle are truly daunting and those that are up for the challenge take it as seriously as those endeavoring any sports event. It might appear disgusting to watch for many but in the American tradition if that is your case then turn the channel. For me I will have one with sauerkraut and mustard and savior it in my own 10 minutes.
Therapist paid to listen
What a wonderful experience to let out all your thoughts/feelings and not worry that you’re a burden to that other individual. In the “real world” sometimes you can feel your burdening friends and families with their own thoughts and problems when they have their own life. A therapist on the other hand is being paid from your hard earned monies to listen to those thoughts and therefore they can’t be burdened as such. They can offer their own opinions but only after they’ve carefully listened to yours. Therapist also are paid to be empathetic to your feelings and problems while in the real world many people might downplay those thoughts or don’t have the time or patience to truly care. Therefore therapy doesn’t just help those that are having difficulties but those who want to be heard.
Yet when government intrudes into this very important relationship the opportunity for a real free discussion that clears the air becomes clouded. There needs to be a very thick line between “the fear of the public” and the right to confidentiality. Only when truly necessary should that line be crossed and we must trust the professional therapist not the politicians to determine when such a line needs to be crossed.
G-D bless the USA
I ask that G-D continue to bless the USA even if we have strayed from our Judeo Christian values that have kept us strong, free and principled for so many years. We in the United States have the ability to start a new chapter for our rights are not determined by a government but are endowed by our creator and we will fight to keep them strong through the ballot box and the means guaranteed by our constitution. We have traveled all around the world some with only the jacket on their back to have this opportunity for us and our children and with G-D’s help will continue to see it work. May G-D bless the United States and all it’s wonderful people!
Change not pain
It is difficult when you see someone continue to suffer do to the decisions they make but trying to change them appears only painful to you. Maybe a few of these suggestions (below) will help with the process.
(1) START POSITIVE- No matter how difficult this might appear if you can find a way to talk about the person’s strength’s before their weaknesses their door to listening and acceptance will be more open.
(2) I INSTEAD OF YOU– By suggesting these are your feelings it makes the individual less defensive about receiving the comments.
(3) QUESTIONS TO PONDER- Instead of expecting an immediate answer give the individual time to think about a response over-time and let them come to the conclusion instead of you thinking about it.
(4) OUT OF BOX- Try to take them away from their position and see it through another’s eyes “Picture this instead”
(5) LISTEN – Make sure you listen not only to the words but their inflection and see what they truly might be saying in a deeper sense.
(6) END W CARE-Make sure you leave the discussion or meeting on a positive note and let them know you will be there for them.
(7) CHANGE BUTTON– Realize that there is no immediate button that will work but over time things might move in the right direction even when you least expect it to occur.
The Hard Choice
I was listening to a radio show that suggested the path to acceptance of homosexual marriage occurred during the debate of psychotherapy in 1947 where the thoughts changed from the good to the self. They claimed that psychotherapy led people to seek self desire above what their faith and values taught them. This is turn led people away from the sanctity of marriage to divorces of over 50 % and children born to single wed parents. Therein turn led to the acceptance of homosexual marriage as one went to the path of feeling good for oneself above all other concerns.
This discussion deepened my thoughts concerning the biblical story of Balaam who ran to curse the Jewish people in return for monies and power for himself. Thank G-D that his will didn’t prevail but it led to a path for the Jewish people to be cursed, by acting with lust instead of life. I believe it’s important to enjoy life’s bounties especially when hard work is involved in receiving them but we also make room for G-D who has created those bounties in the first place. Taking the tougher choice for good that involves pain and sacrifice makes one stronger and brighter as a diamond outshines all other minerals.
Trumptized
He’s like that reality show you know you shouldn’t watch but are glued to every week. He is arrogant, cruel & blunt at times with ease and truthfully that may be what draws you in. For we want a leader who is decisive and knows what they want. Someone who isn’t afraid to say what they believe even if it comes from a different part of his/her body and will not go on apology tour every time it isn’t politically correct. If this is the case you maybe “Trumptized” and the only cure is the bitter taste of reality. Of course it’s great to have a strong decisive leader but that leaders must have the best policy believes and principles as well. Here are just a few thoughts to keep in your mind (below) before the Donald has his way.
(1) He’s used the bankruptcy laws several times in ways that have hurt small businesses that have believed in his name.
(2) Being arrogant can work work on a business stage but sometimes it can start unnecessary wars in the real world with innocent lives in jeopardy.
(3) Donald Trump has switched political parties more often then he switched wives
(4) The White House won’t even fit his tie collection.
(5) It’s not wrong to make grand statements in life but in the political world those statements must be backed up with facts and stats.
“The Chosen” – YOUR CHOICE
I have this desire to rewrite a script similar to the movie “Chosen” but bring it in today’s times with an Orthodox Women and a Secular Man where tragedy and triumph are the true elements. My desire will be up to YOU though. If enough of YOU believe I should write this script it begins if not it stays in my head.
Bill De Blasio Andrew Cuomo a beautiful feud
As a Conservative Tea Partier I’m sitting back in my blue state and enjoying the fight of NY between two of the most powerful Democratic leaders. I just want to add a little fire to the flame to make sure they keep it going and maybe there can be a double knockout or at least a little more blood (not literally) for a challenge from the right. So let me just say to De Blasio that I heard Andrew Cuomo called you fat chicken and Governor Cuomo it’s said that De Blasio said he thinks your face looks like it lost too many fights already. I know this is a low blow but I live in NY what other chance do I have.
Marketing Products Today!!
In today’s market getting your product in the customers eyes is harder then ever, especially if you’re a small business but there some marketing tricks you can employ. You may not be able to fight for the proper shelf spot unless you have monies to spend so it’s important that you using your marketing monies in these other directions instead. These tricks (scene below) will enable you to not only have your products seen by the customer but understood as well.
(1) CHANGING COUNTER PEOPLE TO SALES PEOPLE– It is important that you put together an incentive program for the front line between the customer and the cashier and that is your counter/stock personnel. By giving them incentive such as sell ten widgets for a T-shirt and/or lottery ticket for a price these employees will have a reason to make sure the customer knows your product exists and if you keep the incentive just right the pitch will be as well.
(2) FREE DIGITAL FRAMES W SD VIDEO FORMAT– While shopping for goods the customer has some wait time and that it the time that a demonstration from the Digital Frames that are placed in the store will showcase the brilliance of your product.
(3) SAMPLES IF POSSIBLE– When Post-It notes wasn’t selling 3M starting giving them out for free and the rest my friend is history.
(4) P.O.S DISPLAYS– Don’t let them forget your product as their waiting in that long cashier line or waiting to be served. Bright colors or creative design of such display can be the difference between buying and gliding past your product.
