Why babies are cute.

excited 2excuse letter

G-D in his infinite wisdom made babies of humans and animals so cute so we could deal with them. Imagine if babies were ugly and woke us up in the middle of the night; let’s just say we wouldn’t be rocking them to sleep. Ugly babies that had accidents would make those accidents a lot worse. It’s hard to get mad at cute babies with those little eyes and smiles they can destroy anything and get anyway with it. If only we had this power for one day what would you do with it?

Celebrity who?

star

You would be amazed how many times that you have been in contact with a “celebrity” and it hasn’t even dawned on you. It might be that a simple trip down a grocery aisle or walking the dog where you will spot a celebrity.  I’m not talking individuals like Brad Pitt or Cameron Diaz but these individuals stand out in their own world.  They might be the greatest carpenter in Monsey, the Pediatrician people wait on line to see or that hero defending freedom at our shore, these are the individuals that truly stand out. These individuals might not be in the biggest movie or television show but their accomplishments truly make a difference in the neighborhood we live in.   So the next time you’re walking down the street make sure you say hello to that stranger and have your cell phone camera ready because the true celebrities are closer then we think.

Thrill Seeker!

PLEASE SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS

If you’re like me you enjoy living on the edge but how sharp is your knife?  I have gone on every type of roller coaster, driven my car a bit too fast, gone bungee jumping and even ridden on top of a car (stupid youth) but there are limits and those limits seem to expand as we get older and maybe wiser. Is it because we become more aware that we aren’t immortal as we age or is that fear as a whole stops us from living our life to the fullest? WHAT DO YOU THINK?

I for one have cut out many of the activities listed not out of fear but knowing that my stomach isn’t up for the ride but continue to seek thrills. Whether it be taking risks in various business opportunities or finding a partner to go sky diving with, life is about living. This doesn’t mean that I’m going to climb Mt Everest (the flight is way too expensive) and I hate spending days and days climbing a rock. Here is where I draw my line (see below).

Where is your line drawn?

(1) Do I have any talents or skills to actually perform the thrill?

(2) Is there any chance that my thrill seeking activity might hurt innocent spectators?

(3) Is the activity I’m seeking illegal and harmful to society as a whole?

(4) How likely is it that this activity can create an addiction for me at the loss of more important activities in my life?

(5) Will this activity create a financial burden for me and my family?

When to hate!

love hate

We are told we should  love each other and try to find even the best in every person but sometimes hate is just as important. I don’t believe you should detest the entire person  a matter fact you might even love that person but you should be able to hate what a person does.  If we act like everything is just fine when we are hurt by others actions then we become a boiling pot ready to explode.

If we don’t hate what some have done then we will be unable to seek justice or even change paths.  Hate can be that motivating factor that makes us willing to climb that mountain  to success even though their is ice ahead and the fall looks deadly. Love should always be the main source of our life path but hate must not be totally extinguished. It shouldn’t overwhelm us but just like a fire when it is controlled it can realize the energy we need to grow.

Here are examples of legitimate hate.

Waiting for that break!

Posted by Bruce - in Blog, Philosophy - No Comments

one chance

How many of us are waiting for that one break in our life that will change everything? Whether it be the singer who’s voice has just been spotted by Madonna, that blogger who believes someday the Wall Street Journal will hire them as a columnist, or that guy down the street who just bought the winning lottery ticket we will wait for that once in a lifetime opportunity.  Some of us will work hour and hour after to perfect that talent for this one chance while some of us will just hand a dollar to the lottery attendant.

Yet what happens if that big break doesn’t occur? How do we deal with the disappointment and pain?  Many will down and not have the ability to get up but there is a way to recovery (see below) that will enable to hold onto the dream but still live in today’s reality.

(1) Set small easy to reach dreams that can build to something bigger. If you wanted that luxury car maybe start out with a hubcap. If you wanted to be a professional singer sing with a local band.

(2) Take a moment to congratulate yourself on this step.

(3) Build to the next baby step and keep the process going as far as you can.

(4) If you fall off the ladder or can’t go any higher get a new ladder and start to build a different version for yourself   (maybe instead of acting for theater you’ll do voice off work).

(5) Make sure you spend time with positive people that support your actions and efforts no matter where they might lead.

Peace through partitition

freedom movement

The Palestinian territory is ruled with a mob mentality, those that disagree are eliminated, therefore the only way to make peace is to partition the people from the mobsters.  A group of Palestinian’s that seek true Jeffersonian Democracy and accept Israeli’s right to exist in peace within their own land;  will form a separate country that is called “Free Palestine” . The establishment of such a country will occur with the help of the Mosad. This help will insure that all the pieces are together for their declared independence. Israel will agree to co-military alliance with this new country, as well as education and economic aid.

If an attack is placed on “Free Palestine” this new country will fight back with the help of Israel.  If the “Free Palestine” area wins more land in such battles then like any victor comes the spoils of controlling that territory.  Once more Palestine’s realize that peace and democracy are their best options for success they will fight to join “Free Palestine” and those that don’t will eventually (G-D willing) wither away. This movement will be so successful that it will spread in many regions of the middle east.

Death Penalty Choice

DEATH PENALTY

# Death Penalty, # Justice

I believe their are certain crimes so heinous that the individuals who commits such acts loses all humanity and needs to be put down. Please note these are for the worst among us for example those who commit multiple murders and sexual molestation of children. These individuals would not only have their day in court with DNA evidence securing their guilty verdict but at least one appeal would be made on their behalf.

I realize that the court system makes it extremely costly and time consuming for these actions to occur.    Therefore I believe we should utilize incentives to persuade this individual that it is time. Here is how the system would work  (below).

(1) Once the appeal process is taken care those that ask for execution would receive monies to their funeral expenses or given to their families based on the annual cost of keeping them behind bars. For example if they were executed in June and it cost $40,000 to house such an inmate then half the years expenses would be given to the inmates family or funeral expense.

(2) While A full year of expenses to keep this inmate behind bars would go to the families of the victims of his/her crime.

WHAT DO YOU THINK

Your roots are here to stay.

roots

No matter how we might try to be different then our culture the roots are too deep to escape.  We might discover simple moments that signify these roots whether it be having the same humor as your parents or  even suddenly observing a faith ritual that you have tried to ignore.  We can grow like a tree and discover new worlds but those roots will hold us to a tradition and faith that will last longer then a leaf that will appear for a season.  Let us make sure that those roots help us flourish and are not the vines that have kept our culture or family down in the past.

Marijuana the new cigarettes but much worse

Posted by Bruce - in Blog, Philosophy, Political - No Comments

smoking pot

It appears that society is moving not only to legalize marijuana but promote it’s use. While I believe that Marijuana should be legal it should be with strict regulations;  for example those who seek to purchase such a drug must be educated on it’s consequences and receive a license, their also should be taxes put on the use of this drug that would go directly to youth drug awareness programs and rehabilitation centers, and those that sell this drug must insure their customers aren’t a danger to the community they live in when leaving their place of business (further details on previous blog). Yet what is occurring today is similar to what occurred with cigarettes but the consequences could be much worse (see below).

G-D willing my prediction are wrong but it appears the writing is on the wall.

(1)  Marijuana use is promoted as being good for your health- like cigarettes in the 50’s

(2) Large companies are getting involved in this industry so efforts to regulate it will be come more difficult.

(3) Reports of harmful effects will be dismissed. Yet unlike cigarettes their are much more supporters in the media so this information will not be dispensed to the public in a timely and accurate basis.

(4) There will be more DUI of Marijuana because of it’s long term effects in the system, Cancer because of the inhalation of smoke, and Mental Illness because it actually effects on brain chemistry.

(5) Younger people will find it easier to get Marijuana and therefore use by the youth will increase causing long term effects on these individuals.

(6) Those that suffer mental illness will not get proper treatment and instead self medicate themselves through Marijuana causing undue pain and harm to themselves and their families.

(7) Users will get bored of the effects of marijuana and it won’t be rebellious enough as mom and dad try it and therefore harder drugs such as Cocaine and Heroin use will increase.

(8) There will be an effort to re criminalize this drug which will fail but new regulations will be adopted after the death of thousands and injury of millions.

A grouse truth

golden toilet

This might be disgusting but it’s the truth, no matter how big you think you’ve become you still have to wipe your butt.  You might eat in the fanciest restaurants, drive in the most luxurious car, or go to the hottest clubs with the most glamorous people but at the end of the end of the night you’re just like the rest of us when you sit on John (not the person).  The truth might be disgusting but it’s the truth and in a way it’s beautiful because no matter who we may think we are we are all still just human and live under those rules.
