Marijuana the new cigarettes but much worse

It appears that society is moving not only to legalize marijuana but promote it’s use. While I believe that Marijuana should be legal it should be with strict regulations;  for example those who seek to purchase such a drug must be educated on it’s consequences and receive a license, their also should be taxes put on the use of this drug that would go directly to youth drug awareness programs and rehabilitation centers, and those that sell this drug must insure their customers aren’t a danger to the community they live in when leaving their place of business (further details on previous blog). Yet what is occurring today is similar to what occurred with cigarettes but the consequences could be much worse (see below).

G-D willing my prediction are wrong but it appears the writing is on the wall.

(1)  Marijuana use is promoted as being good for your health- like cigarettes in the 50’s

(2) Large companies are getting involved in this industry so efforts to regulate it will be come more difficult.

(3) Reports of harmful effects will be dismissed. Yet unlike cigarettes their are much more supporters in the media so this information will not be dispensed to the public in a timely and accurate basis.

(4) There will be more DUI of Marijuana because of it’s long term effects in the system, Cancer because of the inhalation of smoke, and Mental Illness because it actually effects on brain chemistry.

(5) Younger people will find it easier to get Marijuana and therefore use by the youth will increase causing long term effects on these individuals.

(6) Those that suffer mental illness will not get proper treatment and instead self medicate themselves through Marijuana causing undue pain and harm to themselves and their families.

(7) Users will get bored of the effects of marijuana and it won’t be rebellious enough as mom and dad try it and therefore harder drugs such as Cocaine and Heroin use will increase.

(8) There will be an effort to re criminalize this drug which will fail but new regulations will be adopted after the death of thousands and injury of millions.
