Ray Rice a different take.

Ray Rice

We all are disgusted with the violence we’ve seen in the Ray Rice video but is that 30 seconds the end of this man?  Is he too live a life as a man with a scarlet letter  never to be given the chance for redemption? I believe this shouldn’t be the case. Ray Rice should be suspended by the NFL but suspension shouldn’t be banning.  If he is willing to get mental health treatment so he learns to keep his violent behavior on the football field on the field, seek other guidance and speak out for mental health treatment then he should be given a 2nd chance.  For if he is banned it will only cause others to hide their actions and not seek the treatment they need. If on the other hand he is given a chance for redemption and becomes a spokes person for mental health treatment maybe we can truly stop the cycle of violence.

Welfare to Pot

welfare to pot

I’m all for giving the poor the tools to lift themselves out of poverty so they can climb new heights but not to get high.  How could our welfare system provide for the tools that dig the poor into a  deeper ditch of poverty? Pot keeps people down  by providing a false happiness that is based on a drug not reality.  It’s time that we the tax payer insure that our hard earned monies are truly being utilized to truly help these individuals find true happiness through success. Therefore the EBT card should only be utilized for items that we know will provide success. Some examples include nutritional food instead of junk food, gym membership instead of T.V. membership and classes in rolling bread instead of rolling a joint.

Is it better to watch?

football tackle

As the NFL season begins many of us are glad to be just watching instead of playing but that also holds true in other real world pursuits. Whether we watch a sporting event or watch a friend engage in a conversation with a stranger, watching is definitely safer.  We can pursue a business dream and lose everything we got or work at such a company and lose only a weeks salary. We can pursue the hottest guy or woman at the bar or go after the one that is already attracted to us. Many of us would just prefer to watch and insure that if their are pains they aren’t full frontal tackles.

I on the other hand will take the full frontal tackle as long as I’m wearing a helmet. The Helmet prepares me for the possibility of loss and should allow me to get back on my feet in case I’m hit. Yet even a soul like me sometimes doesn’t mind watching as long as I’m on the sidelines and get called into the game.  Which position do you take?

Popular Jerk/Bitch/Snob

snob 2

Have you wondered why those individuals who have attitude seem to be popular?  They can criticize the world and still  the world loves them or so it seems. Why do you think this occurs. Here are a few reasons (below) that  I believe this is so.

(1) People want to be the one praised by those who often don’t give praise.

(2) Individuals enjoy the direct honesty of the “Jerk” who truly aren’t afraid to call it as they see it.

(3) There is a side to most of us that likes to hear the dirt and negative traits of others which the “Jerk” is fond of providing.

(4) The “Jerk” is the rebel from the good manners that most of us try to practice.

(5) Finally the”Jerk” is usually funny in their direct interpretation of events.

Change of plans & success

plan cancelled 2

When plans suddenly change it initially sucks but what you do next might determine if you are sucking Don Perignon or Kool Aid (without sugar).  How many times have your plans been changed because someone didn’t show up (physically or mentally), technical problems above your pay grade, or even a change in the weather? Those that are able to handle life’s roller coasters and still manage to pull ahead  are truly the individuals that make it to the top. Here are a few ways (below) you can make sure you’re the one who is sucking the bubbly.

(1) Give yourself a moment to vent about the change, but only for that moment.

(2) Find a silver lining in the change you didn’t think of before.

(3) Realize you may have your plan but G-D might have a better plan for you.

(4) Act in a way that makes it appear and feel that this was your original plan in the first place.

(5) Learn from the problems in the past and plan accordingly so they won’t have as much impact in the future.

Leadership and “The Enders Game”

The Enders Game

“The Ender’s Game” may not be the best movie of the year (it isn’t) but it might be the best movie that provides you with examples of true leadership.  Here are just a few examples demonstrated (below).

(1) When dealing with an authoritarian leader always give them a chance to save face.

(2) Let others take credit for your work(s) as long as that work gets done.

(3) Actively listen to your subordinates but don’t be afraid to stand alone when that must occur.

(4) Challenge those in power but utilize their rules of conduct during such a  challenge.

(5) Be willing to lose it all for something more important.

ISIS- defensive or destroy

isis

There are only two ways to deal with ISIS and similar terrorist networks you can either totally destroy them or leave them constantly on the defensive whereas  both options have positive and negative ramifications. If you eliminate them from the face of the earth there will be plenty of collateral damage that might inspire future terrorist groups to formulate and/or grow while if you keep them on the defensive it will be a continual cost that you will have to bear.  I believe though keeping them on the defensive might be the better option as long as the will is there for the following reasons (below). What do you think?

(1) It will prevent them from attempting an offensive operation because they’ll always be on the defensive.

(2) Those enemies of decency, democracy and freedom will continue to join their network and will be eliminated on  a constant basis in one central location without any chance of expansion.

(3) There might be a chance for a civil war in the ISIS controlled areas once the victims of their injustice have an opportunity to fight back. Since ISIS will always be on the defensive it will have less internal control as if it were stable.

Poverty programs keep people poor.

goof off 2

When an individual “loses it all” from the loss of a job that employment is taken much more seriously. When such an individual takes their job much more seriously their is a better chance for growth and promotions for such an individual and growth for those in the company, as the companies productivity improves.  If on the other hand an individual can lead a fairly decent life while not working through food stamps, housing, free phones, free medical care; while those with menial jobs struggle you have just created a disincentive to the  work ethic.  Am I saying that all aid to the poor should be stopped? Obviously not but their needs to be a new course if we truly want to lift individuals out of poverty.

(1) Any person receiving any government assistance must perform some work based on their abilities or lack thereof. It could be as simple as folding envelopes for an hour a day for those with severe disabilities to cleaning a park for those in better condition.

(2) Unemployment benefits without working are cut off after 6 weeks. You will receive the benefits though while you work even if it’s in a public service works. A private sector company will continue to search for the position you seek and will receive incentives for finding you such a position.

Civil War in Gaza Strip

Posted by Bruce - in Blog, Philosophy - No Comments

gaza strip

I love peace except when that peace leads to a bigger conflict in the future and that is what I fear will occur, unless there is a civil war in the Gaza Strip. Every time Hamas is allowed a moment of peace they have used that moment to bring in bigger and more destructive weapons to be utilized against Israel and from their rhetoric, I see know reason they won’t continue this awful pattern. Therefore it is best that a civil war is kindled shortly.  Hamas has lost some of it’s support because of the destruction it has brought on its people and will not be able to deliver the basic resources that are needed, It’s therefore time a new group emerges that can deliver these resources better and will also seek peace with Israel. This group will have the resources (through Mossad) to defend themselves against Hamas and at the same time build a coalition that will fight the totalitarian regime of Hamas. G-D willing after the destruction that will occur a true and lasting peace can occur between the Palestinians and Israel’s.

Rick Perry Indictment

Posted by Bruce - in Blog, Philosophy, Political - No Comments

rick perry

I believe that if the case against “Rick Perry” is proven to be without merit then those who brought such claims should instead be prosecuted.  Although I don’t know all the facts on the case it appears to stink because from what I’ve heard it’s based on politics not justice. If the indictment is thrown out by the judge then the process of indicting the prosecutions should begin.  For Rick Perry’s indictment doesn’t just hurt him but the political system as a whole because political leaders may fear taking strong stances against the “Political Elite”and suffer the same consequences .  Therefore we must insure that not only we prosecute those accused of crimes but those who bring wrongful prosecution for if we don’t our political system as a whole will suffer.
