Philosophy

The restriction on personal liberty in our modern era started with the seat belt laws which force individuals to wear this device or face prosecution by the state.  I believe it’s important to wear a seat belt and make those who want to sit in the front seat with me wear it as well but it shouldn’t be mandated by the state. Simply stated adult should be able to make their own decisions on personal safety as long as those acts don’t hurt others in between. The state must respect individual adult rights to pursue liberty and the right of happiness the way the deem correct. There are many things I would consider changing but my Pro-life stance is not one of them and it’s for reasons you’d never expect.  The most important reason is I believe that we can never truly determine when a life begins so how could we risk taking someone’s else’s life. If there is a time when science can prove conclusively that at a certain time an unborn baby is  plant or other creature then I might reconsider it. There are 3 personal experiences (below) that have kept me on this path.

(1) One day I decided to embark on creating a plaque with all my awards and certificates enclosed. When it was finished right in the center was my NRL card. The strange thing is that I had no intention for this card to ever be in this plaque and don’t remember including it as such.

(2) I was moving up the political ladder when I started seriously considering hiding my Pro-Life stands that day turned out to be one of the worst days of my life.

(3) When my girlfriend was pregnant we heard many comment from friends and family that we should terminate/eliminate that pregnancy. Thank G-D me and my wife didn’t listen to those comments as my son has continued to bring us and the world miles of joy and happiness.

The recent breaches in security at the White House have given great concern to those who protect the President and his residence but they also ask the question what happened to the people’s house?  We seem to put the Presidency on such a pedestal that sometimes we forget that he/she is put their as a public servant to the people. We of course don’t expect the average Joe to be able to walk to the White House and ring the door to speak to the President but we also shouldn’t make it an Imperial Palace.   The President should spend sometime everyday in his/her residency actually speaking to a few of his employees “The American People”.  Here’s how it could  be done (below)?

(1) The President would reserve 30 minutes three to four days a week to speak to citizens.

(2) Citizens would fill out a form telling them the days they would be available to go to the “White House” and pay a token fee to pay for this service.  Those who put anytime would have the best chance to meet with the best President.

(3) The names would be picked through a lottery system.

(4) They would be notified two weeks in advance that they have 5 minutes with the Presidents ear on such and such a date.  They would have to verify that they were available and would have a security clearance done before such date.

(5) The Public Servant (President) would meet with their employee (the Citizen) and a recording secretary would take notes available to the President and such citizen.

HE GOT THAT WRONG

   Those who seek the highest office in the land should have the competency to perform such work but how can we determine if this is so? We as a nation have been pulled in by charisma and coolness but somehow competence seems to have fallen off the list. Here is a way (below) we can insure that we truly have a President that is truly Presidential.

(1) A Panel of  intellectual Conservative and Liberal leaders made up of scholars and leaders in the movement is reconvened, to review the basic resume’s of those seeking this office, for their perspective parties. This resume must be given without any headshots or pictures attached.  The individual resumes are given a grade as if it was a report card.

(2) Those who seek this office will appear before the Conservative or Liberal panel and be interviewed. The questions that they will be asked will consist not only of policy issues, but their reaction if certain crisis occurred, to their knowledge of the Constitution and the Federalist Papers.  The individuals will be given a grade for their responses.

(3) Finally these individuals who seek the approval of the individual boards will have to act out certain scenario’s in front of the panel to truly demonstrate whether their words match their action. This will be the “Midterm” exam and the results will be broadcast throughout the news media outlets.

(4) Those with the top scores from both the Liberal and Conservative Panel then can appear before a joint committee of such policies and repeat steps 1-3.

(5) The joint board will then vote on who they believe is the most competent. (note Conservative and Liberal members of committee can’t vote in blocks but must divide vote).

(6) These reports will be fully disclosed to the public so they are well informed before they vote.

Martin Luther King is a great American hero who used peaceful protest to show the evil of segregation and by so doing won many of a battle without lifting a sword but then he stepped a bit too far into “Vietnam”.  Many good people can debate the merits of the Vietnam and how it was fought but on the other hand know one can truly debate the merits of a state enforced segregation policy.   This not only divided his base of support but hurt his image around the country as he stated ” the greatest purveyor of violence in the world today.”

Martin Luther King is just one example of a great leader that didn’t know when victory is truly enough, we can see this continuing to occur in many of the Presidents and leaders before and after his legacy.  The truth is when we get involved in a passionate cause for good against evil can we end after we’ve succeeded?  It is important to continue good works throughout our lives but maybe insuring that those works continue to be successful is enough. It is difficult to relegate one’s self from being involved in great project to lesser projects but the good those projects have done and you want them to continue to do should be enough. Yet sometimes the ego can replace the need for change for the need to be in the spotlight again.

ISIS doesn’t care whether you’re black, white, Jew, Christian,  moderate Muslim, Conservative or Liberal it along with it’s other extremist Islamic groups want you dead or convert at the point of a sword. That is why we must pray that G-D will give the President the will to mount a successful campaign to have them wiped off this earth.  G-D I ask that you give our President the strength, endurance and wisdom to insure that victory comes upon us with the least harm to our brave men and woman on the front line and that the time will come shortly where we will live in a world of peace and harmony.  As it is written so may it be done may the day come  upon us when the lion will lay with the lamb and men will no war no more.
