A Crying Trailer

Posted by Bruce - in arts and entertainment, film - No Comments

If this trailer doesn’t bring a tear to you heart then you’ve lost yours or really don’t like our four legged friends. I’m not sure I should see this movie because I might be asked to leave for crying as if I was a baby. Yet I think I’ll risk it because once in awhile it’s good to have a good cry even for a guy like me.

No Empathy! (Some what Spoiler Alert)

Posted by Bruce - in arts and entertainment, film - No Comments

allied

There is nothing that can make me have empathy for a person that is a Nazi or a sympathizer in anyway. I would also include anyone involved in ISIS, Child Molestation, KKK etc to this list.  I don’t care how much love that might be shown between loving individuals even if a chorus of violin’s is playing Nazi vermin (and their like) must be put down as if they were a rabid Raccoon. That is why the movie Allied which had all the ingredients to win my heart ripped it out at the end instead.

Allied ** = If you walk out before the ending add * 1/2 stars.

Hacksaw Ridge- More then a movie

Posted by Bruce - in Blog, film - No Comments

“Hacksaw Ridge” is not just a movie but an important statement about war as a whole and courageous.  For a war to be successful even those who would appear least likely  to be able to serve should give what they can. It is an effort of unity in purpose to not only kill the enemy but saving those who put their life on the line for such a purpose. Courageous does not only come from those willing to kill but those willing to save. I strongly recommend that this film be seen by all but just in case you don’t make it to the theater here’s the trailer that should keep you thinking.

****  This film features all the key aspects in this art form. A great story, great acting, a sound score that works with the scenes and a poignant ending.  It also takes us back to a time where honor and values were truly a key part of the American spirit.

Straight Outta Compton- Left me Out

straight outta compton 1  straight outta compton 2

I work in the inner city and empathize with those who have suffered from police abuse having witnessed it many times myself but Straight Outta Compton left me out. Some will say I don’t understand the culture and that might be somewhat true but the continue negative portrayal of such individuals especially as they moved up the music ladder left me walking out of the room before the film even ended.  If there were a couple of flashbacks that kept haunting them or scenes of some redemption I might have felt somewhat differently but it’s hard to feel for those who are continually full of hate and anger even to what they consider “their own kind” as they step over them for glory. The movie also was somewhat repetitive and the language was over the top where their the “F & N word” was used as if it was “the” and therefore lost any force. The acting was the only redeeming quality of this film.

10 Cloverfield -Impressive yet….

10 Cloverfield Lane 1 10 Cloverfield Lane 2

10 Cloverfield Lane is an impressive film with an action packed script yet left you feeling something should have been different. It wasn’t the fabulous performance of John Goodman, Mary Elizabeth Winsted and John Gallagher Jr. but the predictable ending that let it not reach the 10 it could have had. This film is still worth it’s money and time but a different portrayal of John Goodman’s character would have left the viewer with a perspective that kept them thinking way after the credits were rolled. Enjoy the movie but contact me if you want to know what that ending would be.

*** 1/2 – 10 Cloverfield Lane.

Rebirth

after the holocaust NYC 1950's

I’m considering writing the most important and difficult screenplay I’ve ever attempted called “Rebirth”.  It will tell the story of a holocaust survivor showing the years before it occurred, during this awful time but most of the script will deal with their rebirth afterwards when they come to America to start a new life.  If I attempt such a script the chances are it probably won’t be made into a movie in my lifetime and will take an extraordinary amount of hours to complete yet if I don’t a story that needs to be told will be forgotten by too many.

Stars Wars The Force Awakens- LIVE IT!

Star Wars the Force Awakens

Star Wars The Force Awakens is not just a movie but an experience I plan to LIVE!  Once in awhile it’s fun to give into the hype and I’ve decided to join this club. I’ve already bought the Star Wars Cereal, Soup, and even makeup and am going to the movie theater an hour early just to experience the freaks… uh I mean fans that dress up and act like the characters. I will also be producing a live feed on Periscope with a review as soon as we leave the theater. The funny part is I’m not really that much of a Star Wars fan but I’m also not Irish and still celebrate St. Patty’s with Guiness and Corned Beef at my local Irish Pub.  Life is too short to not celebrate with the wild one’s and there special moments!

Premier Tickets may still be available at http://www.lafayettetheatersuffern.com/ . Join me I’ll be wearing my All Screwed Up hat.

Juror justice

Would you watch a show where the most controversial cases never brought to the justice system are finally brought in front of the television audiences and you had the final vote.  THE TRIAL would be such a show which would take our legal system but bring it back to the law of the time, as some of the most difficult cases ever would be decided with the public having the final vote.  Top defense and prosecuting attorneys would present their case “live” with seven jurors randomly picked while the 8th would be the viewing public. Here are just a few of the cases that would be considered.

(1) Jesus Christ on Roman heresy crimes.

(2) Abraham on child cruelty charges.

(3) Bill Clinton on perjury charges.

(4) Richard Nixon on tampering with evidence.

(5) Ronald Reagan on Irangate what did he know and when did he know it?

(6) Barrack Obama on IRS scandal, Benghazi cover up etc etc.
