Trump Effect- A Dog’s Purpose

Donald Trump Signing Executive Orders A Dog's Purpose

Will the :Trump Effect” help the box office for “A Dog’s Purpose” or are movie critics immune to the larger media? This weekend will we write a new chapter on who decides what we decide to watch or will we read the same paper?  With critics generally giving “A Dog’s Purpose” a paw down will the audiences ignore the establishment on this front and still show up to see this film.   Has the media elite lost so much power that the people who don’t listen to their “political wisdom” will also ignore their film advise? If so who will step in that will give us this helpful advise that we can trust or will we dare to go alone?

Mary Tyler Moore- Last Episode-Tribute

Mary Tyler Moore Show

I couldn’t do a fitting tribute of  Mary Tyler Moore without the finally of her most famous show. After 7 years the show ended but to this day I still remember this ending which considering all the other shows I’ve watched is quite remarkable.  I’ve also included an episode of the Dick Van Dyke show which Mary Tyler Moore had a larger part then had recall. RIP Mary Tyler Moore.

Mary Tyler Moore

Mary Tyler Moore had an extensive career in the entertainment field but  I remember her best as the friendly face that popped on our T.V once a week and made us laugh and smile a bit more. The “Mary Tyler Moore Show” was a program that showed the very human and funny part of a News room.  As the years go by some have not had the chance to witness your great talent so here’s the 1st episode that hopefully you’re watching up there as well. RIP Mary Tyler Moore we already miss your humor and smile.

Oscar Nomination 2017 Winner- Best Movie- Manchester by the Sea

Oscar Nomination Best Movie 3Oscar Nomination Best Movie 2

As I predicted Hillary Clinton would win the Presidency and the Carolina Panthers would win the 2016 Superbowl. Therefore I hope my pick of “Manchester of the Sea” as best picture for 2017 continues this record.  It’s a record I’m very proud of being wrong with. Of course La La Land doesn’t stand a chance even though it is phenomenal and  forget about Hacksaw Ridge receiving the recognition it deserves. Seriously though with Mel Gibson hated by the liberal Hollywood establishment it’s amazing they even permitted his film in this category. We will see if my record holds up in only a few weeks and I can go back to La, La Land.

FOOTNOTE- I plan to catch up with several more of the Oscar Nominated films before voting begins.

The Founder-was fine but not…

The Founder The Founder 2

“The Founder” was fine but not dandy.  As with many of the Weinstein Films there were too many scenes that were unnecessary in telling this story. “Ray Kroc” was  also portrayed  in a very dark light as you would except in Hollywood’s story line of any business magnet. If there were unproven controversies in his life they all appeared to fall against his character in this film   It would have added some complexity to his character and helped develop the story if Mr. Kroc had at least One Arch above his head.  “Founder” does give you some interesting insight in the beginning and growth of McDonald’s too bad it decided to add it’s own spin on the rest of the story.

**  1/2 Founders- 1/2 start added for the history it provides the viewer on McDonald’s

A Crying Trailer

If this trailer doesn’t bring a tear to you heart then you’ve lost yours or really don’t like our four legged friends. I’m not sure I should see this movie because I might be asked to leave for crying as if I was a baby. Yet I think I’ll risk it because once in awhile it’s good to have a good cry even for a guy like me.

Live Through

My son is living the life that I missed and I’m exciting to see where it takes him. I never got to play football in my youth because it was too dangerous yet my son got to make the moves on my field of dreams.   While I would spend hours dreaming and thinking by myself my son instead is a social butterfly. He has helped me develop a wing in this area.  Right now he is a rocker in a band that has completed many different tours while I played the drums dreaming about bigger things. It’s awesome to see him fill in the pieces of the puzzle that I had left out.  G-D willing I can help make sure those pieces continue to fit so he can be the success in other areas that I missed out on.

ROCK STAR -dad/mom

rock-star-1

Beyond the lights of most “Rock Stars” is a parent sitting way in the upper seats. The parent who paid for their years of training whether professional or in the garage with $$’s and/or late night jams….very late.  A parent who kept the money flowing as their son or daughter was still a rock waiting to climb the steps to a star.  The parent who got the stares from other parents who’s child was in a more respectful position lawyer, doctor, engineer.    This parent will never get the accolades of the fans or play on the big stage. So the next time you see that star not only thank them for their awesome performance but for the parents who got them on the stage in the 1st place.
