Too difficult

As Hurricane Arthur wreaks havoc to my fellow Homosapien (Human’s) I’ve wondered how those without vehicles and strong shelters hold up against these natural disasters.  How do they protect themselves from 100 mile winds or torrential rains and if they survive where do they go for food and shelter afterwards?  We can learn a great deal from those creatures that have had to weather the storms, earthquakes, extreme heat, extraordinary cold and without even  a jacket to protect them. A documentary could highlight ways we could survive in G-D forbid similar situations occurred to us and challenge to think differently about the world around us.

To produce such a documentary appears to be an impossible challenge though because we would need the right equipment at the right time and with the correct lighting.  We would also need a budget to fund a crew to travel the world to capture these special moments. Yet if my fellow furry friends could survive hurricanes, earthquakes and tornadoes with just the fur on their back well maybe this is possible too.  Is it too difficult or are you up for the challenge!

America the Great!

happy 4th

I believe in American Exceptional-ism and that it is unique from every other country in the world. It is not that this country is perfect ( G-D knows I’ve disagreed vehemently with many of the position of this administration) but there are certain characteristics that set us apart.   On our birthday I believe it’s time to celebrate those factors.

(1) FREEDOM- In America you can walk down the street and see people praying at a Mosque next to a Church and Shul  speaking as they see fit, without fear of government intervention and then going out to the rifle range to practice their 2nd Amendment rights.

(2) CONSTITUTION- The constitution has enabled those rights to be protected against administration that have seen it a bit differently and united a diverse people to protect each others rights.

(3) ENTREPRENEURIAL SPIRIT- Freedom and Free Markets have enabled the entrepreneur to create new products and business that have made the world a better place. Whether it be a new way to grow crops to feed the world or a new phone app that alerts those to a natural disaster, innovation has made this world a better safer place.

(4) FOREIGN POLICY- Americans have been willing to shed their most precious gift, our soldiers, to fight for basic freedom around the world. Whether it was at the shores of Normandy or the battles in Baghdad and Kabul; we have always tried to bring freedom and peace to those that have been denied and have accepted no land in return.

(5) PEOPLE- The American people are like no other people in the world because they are the world. They come from every country and nationality and as such enhance the unique culture that is found here.  On the outside they may look different but inside they have a common bond that unites them based on freedom, opportunity and a constitution that holds it all together.

HAPPY JULY 4TH!!!  to the USA – A Land that I love!!!!happy 4th

Fasting and Faith

Posted by Bruce - in Blog, Faith, Uncategorized - No Comments

fasting

FASTING & FAITH- As the month of Ramadan occurs my Muslim brothers and sisters will be fasting from Sunrise to Sunset for a month and I thought Yom Kippur was hard. Fasting is an important part of the Christian faith although it appears less rigid on how it is performed as compared do the Jewish and Islamic faith. Fasting is found is most faiths but what are the similarities we can discover?

(1) HUMBLING- A fast reminds you that life and all it’s wonders can’t be taken for granted. We must thank G-D for the bounty we have and not forget those less fortunate.

(2) SIGN OF CLEMENCY- We ask that G-D accept our fast as a sign that we are committed to be better people and therefore ask for forgiveness.

(3) STRENGTH OF CHARACTER- As a person finishes the fast they feel not only cleansed but realize that they have the ability to survive and grow with G-D’s help.

In conclusion I pray that my Muslim brothers and sisters have an easy, spiritual fast during this month of Ramadan. Let us all find that spiritual gift during our fast that brings us true understanding and friendship between all G-D’s children.

Dumb Prejudice!

Posted by Bruce - in Blog - 1 Comments

I always believed that people who practiced racism or any for of  prejudice were dumb because how could you pass judgement on someone before they even spoke but this one (below) takes the cake. I hope we all can learn from this example and put away or own initial prejudices and instead allow the individual to show their own worth.

Example of a stupid prejudice biting you in the ass.

I’ve had a slight pain in my chest for the last 3 days in the morning. It’s lasted maybe a minute and it wasn’t too bad yet what is bad? I don’t want to become a Hypochondriac but I also want to be around to see the elections in November what would you do?  When is pain for real and when are you being a wimp (I hope that’s politically correct)? The truth is you can never tell so I believe it last too long or is something you haven’t felt in the past you should have it checked out otherwise keep a bottle of aspirin’s by the bed.

Below is a list of signs to watch out for to make sure you’re not having a heart-attack.

President Obama’s good side

WHITE HOUSE

I have been very critical of the President so I decided to challenge myself by finding 10 good points about him.  I feel it’s critical for even the most vocal critic to find positive points about those they generally oppose if they are truly to be honest with themselves and others. It also helps to better understand those that feel differently and why they might feel this way.

(1) President Obama is a good family man. He is often seen spending good quality with his children.

(2) He was responsible for calling the order to kill Osama Bin Laden.

(3) The President ordered the execution of pirates that held American’s hostage.

(4) His administration has utilized drones to kill Al Qaida leaders

(5) Gave businesses tax credits to hire Veterans

(6) Helped South Sudan declare Independence from Sudan

(7) Killed the funding for the F-22 fighters.  The military had 187 units which were never used in military operations

HELP ME IF YOU CAN FIND 3 MORE THAT ARE TRULY GOOD FOR ALL AMERICANS RIGHT AND LEFT.

Where loyalty leads to stupidity

following sheep

I appreciate those that are loyal to a cause or political goal but that can often lead to stupidity when they ignore the basic facts.  We can get caught up in the “Cult of Personality” or the need to be part of a certain “political culture” but sometimes we need to escape this world and look at the reality around us. For our support can cause our demise or of the deep seeded values we hold dear.  Loyalty can only go so far where it leads us to the point where the leader is the only one who wins. Yet how do we know when it’s time not to drink the “Kool Aid”. Here are a few clues (see below).

(1) Has the leader decided to play from a different playbook (ex constitution) on more then a few occasions that he/she has sworn to uphold. Has this been demonstrated by many court decisions?

(2) Do the policies that this leader has put in effect resulted in the outcome that they predicted or are they blaming others?

(3) Have those that may not share their views with been targeted and/or silenced by the leadership or are there comments and suggestions listened too and respected?

(4) Is your life and those around you actually improved in terms of greater opportunity or is just something that makes you “feel good”?

(5) If you weren’t truly part of this culture could you actually say this persons policies and leadership are truly working?

Held accountable-Bill Ayers, Hamas

Posted by Bruce - in Blog, Philosophy - No Comments

israel died

If people commit a horrendous act in the name of a group but the group leader(s) denies their involvement how can we determine the truth? It many ways it might be how we define development but there are some common threads (below) that can help us decide if they truly are culpable.

(1) Has the leadership preached hatred and violence against those they oppose?

(2)Is leadership actively involved in recruiting and training it’s members?

(3) Does that training include and “education” deal with developing skills to violently attack those they oppose?

(4) Has this group informed authorities of individuals in their group  that have snapped and are likely to commit a violent act?

(5) Has the leadership send payment to those or their families that have committed violent acts?

This is why Hamas, and Bill Ayers must be held accountable for the heinous acts individuals in their groups have committed.

What pain means?

Sometimes a simple pain can mean something that will change your life forever while other times you can ignore it and it will go away. I remember reading how Bruce Lee went to bed with a simple headache and the next day didn’t wake up. Is there a way we can determine which pain  “is real” and which pain is truly something we can ignore? I wish there was a machine that could tell us how to identify such pains but until then here are   a few links (above) that might help you make sure a determination and as such help yourself or others live a healthier life.
