The Imitation Game is for real

Imitation gamen

The “Imitation Game” is for real as it brings a fascinating story with superb acting to the viewer. The story runs at a quick pace with characters that are well drawn out with flaws and strengths not scene in many other films. It also leaves the viewer with questions worthy of deeper discussions such as whether someone can still be considered a hero if they allow a few innocent individuals to die in order to save a larger group and who should make these decisions of life and death.  The problem with the film is it didn’t achieve the emotional pull of other films in the Oscar race.

Stop the pain

father helping daughter

I wish I could give my children a hug today and all the problems they have would slip away but as they get older the hug becomes weaker yet the pain remains. It wasn’t just the hug that worked as time went on but the hugs of helping them get through grammar school through high school (figuratively in high school, it’s embarrassing then). It only becomes apparent when your children become adults and move away to a college and/or position in their lives that you are helpless for  you’re hugs of emotional support can only be felt through a phone miles away.  Faith and prayer can help bring those miles down but the heart still lingers.

Which came first busy or cell phone?

Posted by Bruce - in Blog, Philosophy, Uncategorized - No Comments

Were we actually busy before the cell phone or did the cell phone make us busy, that is the question?  This debate doesn’t go back as far as the chicken and egg debate but it’s getting close. The people in favor of busy before the cell phone will claim that people worked very hard before it’s invention and their is no arguing there but was every second busy? Did they check their hands for an update on their social media page? Did they wait by snail mail to receive the latest contact from the outside world? I guess my bias is seeping through but then again can you claim to busy with reading someone’s tweet while another is hunting for tonight’s dinner or working on a paper declaring independence? This debate will not end here especially since I just received a new Facebook friend. Who could it be I guess I can leave a little later for work.

INDIVIDUAL

Posted by Bruce - in Philosophy, Uncategorized - No Comments

I believe it’s best to judge people as individuals not be age, race, religion or age. Therefore when people tell me someone can’t or shouldn’t do something because of any of these limitations I believe those individuals are limiting the person. They might have good intentions by “protecting them” from embarrassment, pain or injury but it is truly the individual who knows their limitations and most of the time they limit themselves as well. It has been more difficult for me to go on a roller coaster with loops but I would still try to determine if it is just the moment or truly a change in my body.  My eyes might not be able to see as far as they did a few years ago but I’ll continue to try to stretch that limit as well. We shouldn’t push one too much when something appears to difficult for them for any of the reasons above but encourage them to continue to climb that mountain even if it is a 1/2 step at a time.

Gay Is Easier

Posted by Bruce - in Blog, Uncategorized - No Comments

I’m not recommending this lifestyle but in today’s environment being gay is easier.  I understand that many friends and family will not accept this move but they will be the ones rejected by today’s societal norms. When people say be a man and have that extra drink, hot pepper or work  under strenuous situations being gay is the perfect excuse to get out of it. It also gives you the opportunity to be a jerk and when people respond you can just claim their “anti-gay” and sympathy will flow your way.  Openly gay people are actually the ones that appear to get some of the most desirable positions whether it be a fashion designer, actor, interior designer etc.  Those who practice the gay lifestyle also have better finances then those that don’t since children can’t be produced out of this type of relationship.  Gay people can be more open with their actions and not be rejected by others even in public parades.  It is amazing that with all these benefits most of us still choose the heterosexual lifestyle.  I guess when  it comes down to it sometimes the harder root has benefits that continue through a persons lifetime and beyond.

Drawn to Evil

Posted by Bruce - in Uncategorized - No Comments

It is important that we understand  how and why people can be drawn to evil  such as ISIS if we are to conquer  them . Why would someone  want to  join a group  that takes life as if it was killing a chicken?  Where does such  rage and hate come from.           The truth is there are some people that love  to  have the power of life and death in their hands. They want life to be black and white even if they appeal to the dark-side. These individuals are tired of the slow pace of  “justice” and feel that they should be the final judge or are just the psychopaths from our society. Therefore the only way to stop the spread of such a disease is to fight it head on with a united front annihilating ever  victory that they claim to make and  continually watch those who have such rage and hate in their heart . We  need to direct these individuals to a more productive way of life where they won’t hurt the  innocent and if that fails contain them until they truly can live in civilized society.

Art VS Image

MAYBE THIS VERSION DIDN’T GET SPONSORSHIP

It maybe the greatest piece of art but without the right image and sponsors behind them only the artist may see it.  A sponsor will enable that piece of art whether it be in the form of music, film, theatrical etc to be seen by others because the upfront cost can be too much for the artist alone to bear.  If an artist can receive additional sponsors they can reach a larger audience by marketing their project to larger audience.

The truth is the art might not actually move the sponsor to support such a project but instead the artist themselves. Does the artist create the “right image” for a sponsor to fund such a project? Is the artist able to communicate a message that gives a financial incentive for such a sponsor to get involved or does that artist have pockets of good friends and family that will help them no matter what? Is the artist outgoing and warm or can they present an exclusive feeling to the art which can get a sponsor to release his/her cash flow? Finally does the artist have the closing argument to have the sponsor relinquish these monies or is the sponsor waiting to be asked?  I wonder how many great pieces of art stand alone because the artist truly didn’t have the sales techniques needed to present it to the world?

Community Theatre- maybe… just maybe

community theatre

I’m considering playing a role in a local community theatre. This theatre doesn’t just have a stage to showcase it’s art and other works but also a radio station heard by thousands.  The space appears to be utilized in a productive way so that it is able to produce an income but I wonder does it have space for one more “artist” who needs to produce an income as well.  Will it be able to produce “art” from a different perspective or will political correctness and funds dry up before that occurs. Over the next few months I will determine whether my feet will actually step on such a stage and as a result my  fingers become weaker on this page.
