Therapist paid to listen

What a wonderful experience to let out all your thoughts/feelings and not worry that you’re a burden to that other individual.   In the “real world” sometimes you can feel your  burdening  friends and families with their own thoughts and problems when they have their own life.  A therapist on the other hand is being paid from your hard earned monies to listen to those thoughts and therefore they can’t be burdened as such.  They can offer their own opinions but only after they’ve carefully listened to yours.  Therapist also are paid to be empathetic to your feelings and problems while in the real world many people might downplay those thoughts or don’t have the time or patience to truly care.  Therefore therapy doesn’t just help those that are having difficulties but those who want to be heard.

Yet when government intrudes into this very important relationship the opportunity for a real free discussion that clears the air becomes clouded.  There needs to be a very thick line between “the fear of the public” and the right to confidentiality.  Only when truly necessary should that line be crossed and we must trust the professional therapist not the politicians to determine when such a line needs to be crossed.

Change not pain

change button

It is difficult when you see someone continue to suffer do to the decisions they make but trying to change them appears only painful to you. Maybe a few of these suggestions (below) will help with the process.

(1) START POSITIVE- No matter how difficult this might appear if you can find a way to talk about the person’s strength’s before their weaknesses their door to listening and acceptance will be more open.

(2) I INSTEAD OF YOU– By suggesting these are your feelings it makes the individual less defensive about receiving the comments.

(3) QUESTIONS TO PONDER- Instead of expecting an immediate answer give the individual time to think about a response over-time and let them come to the conclusion instead of you thinking about it.

(4) OUT OF BOX-  Try to take them away from their position and see it through another’s eyes “Picture this instead”

(5) LISTEN – Make sure you listen not only to the words but their inflection and see what they truly might be saying in a deeper sense.

(6) END W CARE-Make sure you leave the discussion or meeting on a positive note and let them know you will be there for them.

(7) CHANGE BUTTON– Realize that there is no immediate button that will work but over time things might move in the right direction even when you least expect it to occur.

Use your assets

Whether you’re born with good looks (above) the ability to run fast, sing better, born into a certain business etc. it’s important to utilize those skills to get what you want. To some it might appear unfair that you have such skill or born into some lifestyle but they are the ones only looking out instead of in.  Once you’ve determined that asset you have now comes the harder part to find what you want not what society or family/friends wants for you.  To find what you truly want requires deep digging as  marketing campaigns/societal pressures try to determine that desire every day and family/friend pressure adds layers to those underlying feelings.  It is only with time and experience that truly determine what you want but a hint it isn’t just want you want but what you want for others that truly brings happiness.

Rebel…. Flag

american flag israel flagrebel flag

I have always considered myself to be a bit of a rebel going against the “mainstream” and salute many of those who go on a different path as well.  When a people rebel against a mighty power as the Colonialist did against England to form the United States and the Jews did against England to form modern Israel I usually salute such bravery. That is why the Confederate Flag causes such confusion in my mind and heart. I want to believe that this flag represents rebellion for states rights but I also understand that it represents the evil of slavery and racism to many. Once a government becomes established as the United States and Israel are today their flags become “mainstream”. Yet not every rebellion is right and therefore we must stand only by those who support basic freedom and justice. Today I say that we adopt the   “Green Flag” of the Iranian revolt for true Democracy that the tyrannical regime squashed in 2009.  G-D willing once the Iranian’s are truly free we can adopt a new flag for those that are fighting for their basic rights as well.

You control

Many an authoritative  leader believes they control the masses but they can’t control you! They might tighten their dictatorial reigns but the mind will always be free.  They might limit the power of the press and religion  but they can’t truly stop you from writing and believing even if only a few a voices can hear. One voice can lead to more voices and then the impact will be beyond their control.  Yet today we who have greater control of our body and mind in a free society will do our best to silence them by the very acts we perform.  Whether it is bringing poison’s into our mind and body that damage from within (Marijuana, smoking, poor food choices) or action that damage our outer core (violent acts, hatred, reckless activities) we limit the one being we can truly control …. ourselves.

Think about me

alone

HAVE  YOU THOUGHT ABOUT ME? Maybe it’s a midlife crisis question or maybe it’s just the question that stays in the back of our mind everyday only to pop out when we least expect it, all I know is this question lead to many other questions (below).

(1) Have my words been misconstrued by their presentation or where and when I said them?

(2) Do I stay in the mind of past loves and hates and if so when and how deep is that impact?

(3) Did any of my words or acts cause anyone to act that caused great kindness or harm to others?

(4) Which had a greater impact the small acts or words I said to a friend or the presentations I made to many?

(4) How long will they remember me once I’ve left this place?

It might be sad but we can truly never gauge the impact our life brings to others for good or bad. All we can do is keep trying to be the best we can be and G-D willing  this makes the world a bit better.

Friends & Business

business partners

I was told by many that friends and business don’t mix but I believe that all depends on the friendship that exist.  If that friendship is just based on having a good time then there might be a problem but if it’s also based on synchronized values then there is no reason why there can’t be a success that’s enjoyable as well. For those that enjoy each other’s company and have the same work ethic can find a way to get through the difficult moments together better then those who don’t share these points.  When difficulty arises differences might appear under the microscope but friendship will help pull that microscope away so that a solution based on mutual trust and friendship can continue to make that business and friendship a success.

Supreme Court-Marriage Decision-Right & Wrong

Supreme Court

The correct decision by the Supreme Court on whether to recognize “Homosexual Marriages” would make everyone  unhappy.  It would insure that those unions that were performed in states that recognize “Gay Marriage” would have to be recognized in all states but wouldn’t force any state to perform this act in their state. Therefore if a gay couple moved from NY to Texas their marriage would have to be accepted by Texas but Texas wouldn’t have to actually have to perform these ceremonies within it’s borders. The reason I believe this is the correct decision is because of the “interstate commerce” clause in the constitution. States individually would still have to decide what marriage within their borders.

Will Forget

accepting an award

Once we’ve climbed the ladder to success we often forget those who helped us along the first rungs.  Maybe it’s their encouragement to climb that first rung or even them putting us in front of the ladder either way we shouldn’t forget what they’ve done for us. It is not enough to say thank you at an award ceremony to those that have given us this break but help them in their own pursuits for excellency and/or be there when they need us that truly count.  We may climb many mountains of success in our life’s and let us make sure we bring as many loved ones as we can along the way.
