Ariel Winters has decided to have a breast reduction and is very open about it (as you can see). This is an experience I won’t probably have to encounter unless I take the wrong medicine or really start pumping Iron but I believe I can understand both points of view. It can feel strange all of a sudden to get extra glances by men who only a few months ago wouldn’t even look your way. It must feel very uncomfortable as this situation continues to develop. Ariel Winters has the right to live the way she feels best and I respect her for that decision. I just hope that this doesn’t become a trend for the viewing public in Hollywood. For instead I hope that the beautiful woman adopt the saying what G-D giveth G-D taketh away not a surgeon.
Martian wins the Oscar…..
And the Oscar’s goes to “The Martian” for ….. best sound mixing. This is the obvious choice with the late David Bowie’s song playing in the background. Sorry it doesn’t deserve best film for it’s very predictable and the characters haven’t been drawn out enough. The jokes are so bad that you would have thought they were written by a scientist (sorry scientists) . It also feels as if your in a Mad Science class that you didn’t study for, in which I would have definitely failed. The depth of the script and action was better then I expected though with incredible visual effects probably another Oscar win. I could also reasonable expect the film to win Best Cinematography and probably Matt Damon will win Best Actor. In closing “The Martian” was better then I expected yet didn’t achieve the Oscar Gold.
*** 1/2 Stars for “The Martian”
Sag Awards- “Spotlight” the big winner
“Spotlight” has won “Outstanding Performance by a cast in Motion Picture which is great for them but means we will have to make sure we spend times and $$’s to see it. For the Oscars are upon us as this film and we must be prepared before it begins. I’ve seen three of the Oscar nominated pictures for best picture so far (Brooklyn, Room, and Mad Max Fury Road) and now I know I went out of order. For I should have stayed with the one word titles 1st (sorry Mad Max) and then continued down the list. I was going to see “The Martian” today but then this would go against the theory. Movies with one word titles have had a propensity to win including ( Birdman 2014, Argo 2013, Crash 2005 Chicago 2002). Yes, I know I skipped a few years but I’m trying to make a deep point and don’t want inconvenient facts to get in the way. I will see “Spotlight” because I’m sure under some mathematical theory this is correct and because it also looks like a well made film.

Oscar Nominated – Room
“Room” deserves it’s Oscar nomination for the art it has produced. Taking the viewer into a secluded room for most of the film through not only our eyes, ears but a touch of our soul as well. With acting from Jacob Tremblay (who should win his Oscar nomination) and visually effects that are deserving of such consideration, this movie is one not to miss. For the room starts out in one place but ends with the viewer looking at the world through a different lense. “Room” is what movie making is about telling a story the old fashion way and bringing the viewer in until the door is opened.
**** Room
I’ve seen 3 Oscar Nominated Films and so far 2 (Room, Brooklyn) are deserving of such consideration while “Mad Max Fury Road” although a fine film is not worthy of this glory.
Facebook beats Playboy hands down
Playboy has been beat by Facebook because I can see pure beauty without having to skim pages or have dollars leave me wallet. All I have to do is turn on my Facebook page and some of the most beautiful woman in the world appear. What’s more they are my friends on Facebook …whatever that really means. While Playboy is covering up some of those beautiful woman Facebook are skimming it down so little is left to the imagination. As long as there as some imagination involved I’m fine with the whole deal. The truth is I never purchased a Playboy but looked through a friends or two um … to read the articles of course and of course if a picture came up what could I do? Yet with Facebook reading isn’t required and these woman pop up out of know where so know one can claim I was looking for trouble but it just banged into me. Thank you Facebook for bringing beauty to the web and at a bargain price … free.
2 Strikes 1 Hit
“Shades of Blue” & “Colony” 2 new shows that appeared to be hit’s have suffered two major strikes. “Colony” which has an interesting concept that appeared to be gaining momentum at the end of the first episode became melodramatic and even a bit boring. It might have to be filed. While “Shades of Blue” which appeared authentic and ground breaking is now falling into the politically correct world where Ray Lolitta (a tough Italian family man) is secretly discovered to have… get this “a gay affair”. It’s enough to X this show from my viewing habits. Will X Files change my viewing habits only time and my DVR will be able to tell but this file will be opened very soon?
Mad Max Fury Road & On Your Feet- Polar Opposites- OSCAR NOMINATION
‘Max Max Fury Road” & “On Your Feet” are polar opposites art forms not just for the stage they perform on but on their greatness and failures. “Max Max Fury Road” is a full coarse action film with unbelievable sets, special effects, plenty of continuous action but little character development while “On Your Feet” deals with complex characters but lacks the other characteristics from ” Mad Max Fury Road”. While “On Your Feet” and “Brooklyn” have much in common even though the stage is different “Mad Max Fury Road” goes down a totally different path. Art can go in totally different directions yet those who appreciate talent can still appreciate those different end zones.
MAD MAX FURY ROAD *** The sets, action, and special effects are spectacular but not enough to be deserving on an Oscar nomination which should consider character development as a key component. There might be a deeper meaning that I’m missing but with the fast pace of action it’s hard to absorb it.
