Vanishing Trip

Jerusalemzurich

Before my trip slowly leaves my mind I wanted to write down as much as I could about it which will include the good, bad and grotesque (probably just ugly but it’s used to much). So here (below) are some of the points I still can remember after 2 days back to normalcy.

(1) May 21st 6:45 PM we took Delta Airlines to Zurich- Unless you’re Kosher on a regular basis don’t order the Kosher food but drinks and movies are included. I can’t remember anything memorable that I watched because watching movies on a plane is as if you’re watching them from Times Square with all the interruptions.  Drinks are included which is great and the flight attendants were very professional.

(2) May 22nd 8:45 AM arrive in Zurich. The airport is a breeze at least what I can remember and Uber worked great as we arrived in our hotel.  The Hotel Crowne Plaza in Zurich is a fine hotel with a real gym attached. Most of the help was very professional but you always run into a jerk or two.

(3) We strolled the streets of Zurich  finding a great place to eat, Sprungli which had the greatest Muesli I’ve ever eaten (the only one as well) and excellent coffee/pastries. This place also had delicious Chocolates from all over the world including Cuba (previous blog piece).  The streets of Zurich are spotless with prices on goods that are out of this world. I also discovered a Chocolate bar that breaks the mold of the Swiss as it was 99% Cocoa while the rest usually stop at 74 %

(4) Later on we went to the old town in Zurich where we went in search of the best Cheese Fondue. Our search would be successful if you hadn’t eaten for a couple of days or were Swiss but for us it was overwhelming. For future travelers one Fondue feeds 4 American’s

(5) We traveled the beautiful streets of Old Zurich as my daughter took pictures from every angle.

(6) Day 2 of our trip and we discovered Chocolate Paradise as we went on a fascinating private tour of the great taste of Chocolates and other sweets in the town that basically invented the Chocolate of today . More on my tour can be found on https://budrebelproductions.com/2017/05/24/chocolate-paradise/

(7) Day 2 finished with one of the worlds greatest vegetarian restaurants which you can find incredible information on https://budrebelproductions.com/2017/05/28/vegetarian-nirvana-restaurant-investment/

(8) Our journey to Israel went smoothly although with less items then we like as we bordered El AL airlines. The Flight Attendants couldn’t have been warmer but the plane was a bit older then one would like especially if they were traveling past the 1980’s.

(9) In Tel Aviv we stayed at a beautiful boutique hotel called the Arbel which had warm and large accommodations for the whole family. Tel Aviv is one place that truly doesn’t know how to sleep at night as the town is booming with young fun even Elvis can be found singing there (not the real one but a Jewish version). I was trying to find the perfect restaurant but it was too busy so we settled for a delicious Indian Restaurant instead.

(10) The next day we took a private tour of Tel Aviv and saw their version of Greenwich Village unique individuals, a beautiful unique mall, the history of the Templers, Whiskey Museum/Bar and other sites my mind has already forgotten. We stayed at another wonderful hotel with great rooms called the Hillel.

(11) Our tour guide gave us a tour of Jerusalem the next day where we bought unique in the Muslim Quarter,  Karaite Temple, ate delicious Shawarma,  and our favorite stop of this tour the City of David which had some really cool tunnels.

(12) Friday night we had an emotionally trip to the Western Wall/Kotel not only for it’s spiritual value but because we lost each other along the way. It was wonderful seeing all the people wishing each other a great Shabbos as well. We stayed at the Montefiore Hotel and stayed in the same room which had a beautiful balcony until the members of Birthright decided to have a party at 1 AM.

(13) Saturday/Shabbos was a bit slower then my or my families normal pace. I journeyed to the Kotel but because I got up a bit late and a bit lost most of the major religious services were over. We ate at the Hotel which was nothing to write home about but still much better then the Kosher airplane food. Later we left to stay at our final hotel the Hotel Yehuda.

(14) We started the day with a delicious tour of one Jerusalem tastiest place the Mahane Yehuda market where our tour guide gave had us try some of the best spices, ice cream, bread, Humus and saw over 100 different varieties of Halvah. I learned that I actually like Halvah as well.

(15) That night we went to my cousin’s wedding in one of the most beautiful location in all of Jerusalem.

(16) The next day we took a flight from Tel Aviv to Zurich and slept the night way. Yet before we went on the Plane we had the Kosher version of Burger King which basically tasted the same as the non Kosher version before and after you ate it.

(17) We finally returned home from Zurich to NY and found the experience easier then we expected even the customs service was more efficient than in the past.

GENERAL NOTES

Zurich– Food and sites are great especially anything to do with Chocolate or Coffee

Israel- A beautiful country in which most will find a deeper meaning and moment then they would anywhere else in the world.

Left Explosion

Explosion Al Gore

There has been an explosion from the left as if the world is coming to end just because President Trump has backed out of the Paris Climate Agreement. It is if this climate agreement was an agreement for world peace and the President decided to strike with nuclear weapons. Let’s be clear even if you’re a global warming fear monger this treaty really doesn’t do anything but transfer wealth to those that have to those that don’t because there is no reinforcing mechanism involved. That is why every dictator around this world happily signs such an agreement while those who actually care about their nation 1st should rethink such a treaty.  Left calm down why not use your monies and energy not to support policies that impose your values on us but produce products that are worthy of our desires and reduce our “footprint” as well.  Oh maybe because it’s not really about “global warming” but losing control and for you that is truly frightening.

Lost or Stolen

Looking for lost item  Stealing 2

If something is missing in your life do you start out thinking it’s just lost or that it’s been stolen? I usually start out with it being lost and until conclusive evidence proves me wrong I stay with such an assumption but here is my criteria  (below) for changing the analysis.

SIZE-  If the item is relatively large and hard to move then my thief antenna goes up.

VISITORS- When an item disappears after visitors have arrived then calls must be made in a way that tells the truth wherever it might lead.

LOCATION- Is the location the item lost in an area where items are disorganized or is it a well managed area? If it’s a well managed area then a police report might be necessary.

PATTERN-  Are there other items missing along the way? If so you must determine if someone has truly taken your belongings or your mind is playing tricks on you.

IDENTIFY ME?

Posted by Bruce - in Blog - No Comments

Looking at You

How does the world identify you without using eagle eye’s? What is the basic sense that you give off and is the odor you truly want to leave?  Yet can you change that aroma even in you take steps to change the smell or is it glued to their nose? As I look at my life I believe loved ones and even those who aren’t fond of me would describe me in the following words (below) what are your words?

(1) RIGHT WING- It’s a label that can simplify my political philosophy in 2 words and help them decide if I’m right or wrong before I speak.

(2) FILM MAKER- The truth is I only made one feature length film (w plenty of shorts) but it is an image that keeps playing and I’m delighted it does.

(3) FAITHFUL- I’m not sure everyone knows or understands my path I seek but they know that I’m a walker.

(4) TYPE A +  This is a trait I’m sure people can see just be looking at me.

(5) CREATIVE- I will never know whether I’m more creative then the person across from me but will usually express more creative thoughts/ideas.

Carrie Underwood VS Mr. Met

Carrie Underwood Mr. Met 1

Carrie Underwood is not concerned with what the public thinks about her having one child and leaves it up to a higher authority while Mr. Met’s public finger showed a whole different attitude. I can an only imagine what it’s like to be in the public spotlight but some such as Carrie Underwood understand there is a much brighter light while Mr. Met feels the entire light was on him last night and he had to react with finger action.  If you can’t handle the heat then get out of your costume I’m sure other’s will be happy to be in the game.  Times maybe a changing but having the right attitude and faith keeps it all together including any itchy fingers.

Paris Climate Agreement VS Marketplace

Toyota Prius Paris Climate Agreement Solar Panels

Do we truly believe in a marketplace to make products and services that we demand or do we believe that this marketplace must be forced on us by our big brother’s in Washington D.C and Paris? The Paris Climate Agreement means we believe in the later.  For example  government didn’t force solar panels on people houses/businesses and Toyota Prius’s in their garage but people generally did it themselves with an incentive here or there.  If we the people really believe that carbon emissions are a general concern then the marketplace will produce products that reflect such a concern. People who are concerned with “global warming” should work harder to convince the public of such a “problem” and can finance this “education” by selling products that help with such a reduction. Therefore the collapse of the Paris Climate Agreement will not produce additional greenhouse gases but will make sure those in power aren’t just speaking with hot air and allow us to control this destiny.

Dog Curiosity or Jealousy

dog curiousdog curiousity

Last night I either was a bit curious or jealous of my dog behavior to other homo sapiens in my house. I can honestly say either way my tail wasn’t wagging as usual. For upon my return from a week away my dog performed her normal lovable greeting but then decided to boycott me after I ran an evening errand.   She all of sudden didn’t enjoy my scent. Was she finally fed up with my lack of attention or was I just personifying her actions?  Well I can say for certainty that this behavior has come back to it’s normal stance as we both wag our tails (mine figuratively of course).  Yet you must wonder were my thoughts truly of curiosity or jealousy of the human kind?

Shavuot Light 2017

Posted by Bruce - in basic judaism, Blog - No Comments

Shavuot 2017

I’m Shavuot light this year and hope it’s my right course. I believe those that observe the traditional path of this holiday  are correct but also believe my path is right as well at least for this year. I don’t believe it would be right for me to take off a full day of work after being on vacation for over a week so this part of the tradition will fall by the waist side today. I justify my position by the statement in the Bible/Torah where it says only once  (unless I missing something) that one is not to perform servile work today so to me that means don’t do work above your normal position needed for the day. This holiday celebrates the giving of the Torah to the Jewish people and also was a time when offerings were given at the Holy Temple.  Here are ways  (below) that I have and will observe the holiday. What ever way you find it in your heart and soul to celebrate this holiday if it falls in your faith may it be full of health, happiness and even a little cheese.

(1) TRADITIONAL- I went to services last night and learned a bit more Torah. I also gathered with friends from the Synagogue. I will be eating a bit more dairy in my diet today.

(2) UNIQUE PATH- I’m celebrating my father’s birthday tonight. The book says to celebrate with family and friends so that is on this schedule.  I will also be handing out milk chocolate (against my chocolate faith) to colleagues.

Kathy Griffin- Real Joke

Kathy Griffin head

From now on when many people see Kathy Griffin they will have this vile picture in their heads, which isn’t the least bit funny in the world we live but their is a way to get a laugh and have some true comedy relief.  Kathy Griffin should hold up a copy of her severed head and act disgusted about the hairstyle on it’s head. She could even copies of other celebrity heads and make some jokes as well. This will still be tasteless head jokes but at least this one hideous image will be deleted from the public eye’s.

Unique Aspects to Zurich & Israel

zurich Israel

Here are some unique American perspectives you probably won’t read anywhere else on Zurich, Switzerland and Israel.

(1) ICE COLD IS LUKE WARM- Drinks especially water come luke warm unless  you specifically request ice cubes.

(2) CAPPUCCINO COMMON- It is not only that Cappuccino and Expresso are available but common in most establishments with better tasting varieties then in the states.

(3) BATHROOM DIFFERENCES- Flushing toilets takes  a bit more effort if you don’t want to leave any remains for guests. While  using showers requires a certain level of sophistication that American’s are unaccustomed too. What really is surprising is the amount of glass doors used in bathroom settings where certain events are more private in the U.S.
