What is the cause of the recent slaughter of our finest police officers in today’s times whether it be in Dallas or today in Baton Rouge?  We can blame it on guns as the President has but guns have been part of our cultural for over 200 years and haven’t had any marketable difference in their capacity for death. Maybe it’s the poor treatment that African American’s feel as they deal with police officials but no matter what the problems might be today they are much better then they been in the past.  Could it be the 24 hour news cycles that constantly publicize such hideous attacks maybe somewhat but we’ve had CNN and Fox News for over 20 years.

Therefore the only difference that I can determine is the acceptance of over the top rhetoric such as “What we want dead cops, When do we want it now” by the acknowledgement  of such groups that say such hateful rhetoric from top political officials such as President Obama and Hillary Clinton.  In the past when groups such as the KKK and the Black Panthers practiced such as hateful rhetoric it was condemned by all and intelligence on activities of these hate groups was thoroughly sought. Today I fear that we worry way too much about political correctness instead of protecting those who put their life on the line to protect us all.

It’s fascinating to discover the different fears that my four legged friends have. While one dog is ready to attack another dog my other dog runs away with her tail under her legs.  One dog bravely plays with ever toy or sock in the house while the other dog is afraid to play with one put in his mouth.  Where these fears come from and how they can be conquered might help us to better understand our 2 legged friends as well.

My conservative philosophy hits a wall when I see young people smoking.  See I truly believe that most people left alone with the proper education will do the right thing and therefore government shouldn’t interfere with their lives. I believe the few have a right to be stupid but when the Democrats see young people lighting up they must be laughing at me.  For after millions and millions of dollars being spent to teach and advertise to young people the harm of smoking they continue to take the first puff.   This also can be said for the person who tries Heroin or eats a Cheesburger everyday but the anti-smoking campaign has continued for over a 1/4 century and still millions continue to try this deadly habit.  What is a Conservative to think? Maybe it’s not all black and white for although I believe most will still do the right thing with proper education we have to realize many still won’t which will cost us all. Therefore we must not only have a safety net when they fall but put out at one hand when they are slipping. This should come from families, religious institutions, local charities and businesses first but if all else fails a local governmental fingers might be needed as well.

Excuse me but we’re celebrating! It’s National Ice Cream Day and who said it needs to be just in your mouth.  If it taste so good then it probably will feel the same way… right? Well maybe wrong either way enjoy National Ice Cream Day even if it is sticky event.

For the good of the Turkish people, the United States and the civilized world we need to back the military coup against “President” Recep Tayyip Erdogan. A President who was locked up opposition voices just before elections, violated his constitutional powers, turned his country from a secular democracy to an Islamic State and given aid and financial support through Oil sales to ISIS and other Islamic Extremist.  I’ve always been one who has supported free elections even if they are slighted tainted but his re-election campaign was in Venezuelan Chavez  style.  Only very recently has “President” Erdogan taken up any fight against ISIS and it only occurred after his own country faced a devastating terrorist attacks.  I understand it might not look “good” if we openly supported a military coup but there are ways we can aid them secretly and indirectly and in so doing help the Turkish people and the world form a more democratic and peaceful future for us all.
