Stacey Dash- Oscars- Bravery

I believe it’s refreshing as the light coming through a clouded sky to listen to Stacey Dash’s remarks concerning the Oscar’s and diversity.  Where politicians and those who live in the political correct world will be clouded on the exclusion of African American’s in this years Oscars  Stacy Dash gives us a different light when bringing up the exclusion of Caucasians on the BET Network today.  The truth is just like Martin Luther King said  I look forward to a day when a person is not judged by the color of their skin, race or religion but talent within instead. The truth is the Oscar’s already has  too much politics  in it already where too many nominations are based on who you know and who likes you.  By some focusing and protesting on the lack of skin color in this years Oscars I’m afraid that talent will be even less of a factor in next year’s Oscars nomination but instead be based on quota’s and this will be too the detriment of the artist and the industry as a whole.

New Planet

Space

I’m not able to find many items especially after I lost them but finding a new planet now that appears a bit ridiculous?  I mean we’ve been looking to the sky’s for millenniums  and have some pretty sophisticated telescopes  how does another planet now appear in our solar system.  If we can’t find a whole planet after all these years maybe it’s not so preposterous to believe Aliens really do exist and live among us and maybe I’ll be able to find that 2nd sock.

1/2 Century

Century

I’ve been on this earth (at least this time) 50 years and it has taken quite a different turn then I could have ever expected. From entertainment to politics the world seems to have turned upside down and inside down.  Mostly for the better but sometimes for the worse. It’s been quite a roller coaster and here are just a few thoughts that come to my mind, this early in my next (G-D willing) 1/2 Century.

TECHNOLOGY-  Growing up I believed I would be wealthy if I owned a cell phone.  I guess now the world is much wealthier. We didn’t have fax machines, had 3 basic T.V Channels, and played music on something called a (I almost forgot) record player.  By the way if I only bought a few shares of that little technology stock that Eve ate I would be owning a few more cell phones, maybe even the company.

MEDICAL- People who had Cancer or Heart Disease barely made it past a few years but today advances continue to grow as our ability to fight these once terminal diseases appears to dissipate   yet fighting “standard infections” might be growing as we give anti-biotics as if they’re candy. We also had to suffer a bit more with our own problems instead of getting medicines and therapy to deal with them and I believe in many cases that made us stronger to deal with life as a whole.

ENTERTAINMENT- You actually would have to wait much longer to enjoy those specials movies, music and entertainment which made those moments much more special then they are today. Yet today you can enjoy a variety that we never could have dreamed about in “my days”.

POLITICS- Growing up our country went through a malaise period that I never believed we would allow ourselves to sink back into but today that has reoccurred.  My hope is just like the 80’s we will see new leadership that will spark the engine of America’s greatness here and around the world again.

My Birthday Wish … to you!!

Birthday Candles

My birthday wish to you is the following.

(1) I wish that in the coming year I will be able to make this world a bit better by bringing happiness and success to many and sadness to only those that truly deserve it (ISIS, Al Qaeda, Someone who has abused their power etc) . Whether it be through some inspiring idea on this blog or just a warm hello when someone feels alone.

(2) May it be G-D’s will that my prayers will be continued to be answered for peace, health, happiness and success to my family/friends along with all the great people around the world.

(3) I wish that those who are entering my age category feel at least as good as I do in health, happiness and success along with all the great people around the world.

(4) Finally I wish that today you have that extra piece of life that makes your smile last longer then your frown ever could.

I know I’m not supposed to say anything till I actually blow out the candles but these candles aren’t made of wax so I think I’m good.

Trump VS Cruz- School Bully

Trump Cruz bully 2

Is it just me or do the latest attacks by Donald Trump against Ted Cruz remind me of  flashback to my middle school days. When bullies would say to others (including me) “nobody likes you”. I’ve grown to like Donald Trump but the latest attacks are quite immature and are an example of what a bully will do when he/she feels that there territory is threatened.  The only difference is in this case it’s not a school yard but the G.O.P nomination.  I’m against political correctness but Mr. Trump’s those remarks were just plain nasty and you deserve a time out. I’m sure some time to think about your cruel words will make you a stronger candidate and more importantly a better person.

No Pain No Gain well…

No Pain No Gain

Everyone has heard the term “no pain no gain” but how about a compromise? I’ll take a little pain for a little gain. Don’t get me wrong a six pack would be great but it’s fine if I still fit in my pants without having to use pliers.  Running miles would be great but running a mile is sufficient (maybe a quick walk).  I’m still trying to achieve my best but I’m just willing to take that best over a few days or even months.   A little pain is fine but too much and I’ll just take a nap instead.

Love or Success

Success 2

This might not match the fairy tale endings but sometimes you have to decide whether love or success is more important for both take extreme amounts of time and effort to achieve and you might only be able to go in one direction.  I’m not talking about your standard love but the love that keeps you up all night and makes you think all day instead of performing the work that you need to achieve growth.  The type o love that can make you travel the country, instead of having your feet on the ground building success. It is true that when you meet that special person that they should make sure you have the space to jump to success but sometimes that isn’t the case and decisions will be made. For success in love might be enough to carry through the pitfalls of life or vice versa.

Eagles

Only a few groups have music that last a lifetime and beyond, the Eagles led by Glenn Frey are such a group. Their powerful lyrics and beautiful melodies will keep my ( G-D willing)  grandchildren singing as well. RIP Glenn Frey knowing that your great songs will be the music of the hearts and souls for so many generations today, yesterday and in the future to come

Celebrating-Martin Luther King Day

Posted by Bruce - in Blog - No Comments

Martin Luther King Day

I strongly believe in the powerful message that Martin Luther King brought to our nation of non-violence and not judging a person by what is on the outside, but a whole day? Please note this also goes for Labor Day,  Veteran’s Day, Columbus Day, and yes even “Mother’s Day” (father’s deserve their day).  For I can listen to Martin Luther King speech or read a book on his great works but that truly wouldn’t take a whole day unless I was a really slow reader or it was a very long book.  On Veteran’s Day I should thank a Veteran or two but again a few hours would be more then enough.  The truth is before we create such national holidays there should be an itinerary attached with various activities listed from 9AM-5PM that we should be able to follow to “correctly” observe such holidays. In closing I want to wish everyone a happy Martin Luther King’s day even if it’s really observed for an hour or two.

Sponge- 1 Minute

SpongebobSpongeWRONG SPONGE                                   RIGHT SPONGE

Don’t get me wrong I love “Spongebob” but for the purpose of this blog post the other  sponge will work.  For just like a sponge takes in what is in front of us we should take a moment to absorb what others are truly saying before we act like the other sponge.  Too often our Spongebob self comes out instead, as we talk without truly listening to the words and the emotions behind such words of others. We believe we know it before we can even absorb it.  As a type A person I understand how difficult it is to stay quiet for too long so I propose to be a better one minute sponge myself and by so doing absorb more of the facts and thoughts before I relinquish my Spongebob.
