Legalized Prostitution?

legalized prostitution

I am torn with this issue because morally I consider prostitution wrong and I never would want a loved one to be involved in this disgusting trade but at the same time it’s the oldest profession in the world and it doesn’t appear to be going away anytime soon.  How can I think that prostitution should be illegal yet believe porno and topless dancing should be legal? I could claim that these are art forms but then all a prostitute and their John would have to do is film the act or do it front of a group of adoring fans and then would it be considered art?  I believe it might be time to allow localities to permit prostitution with strict guidance from the state. Here is a way I believe it could work. PLEASE SHARE YOUR VIEWS!

(1)  All prostitutes would be licensed in which they would be required to take a test to understand the different ways they can leave the business, the dangers involved and be required to practice safe sex.

(2) Prostitutes would be tested on a regular basis to avoid any sexual transmitted diseases from spreading.

(3) The industry would be heavily taxed in which monies would go to support clinics to help prostitutes who want to leave the business, drug treatment facilities and pay for the expense of the state regulation of this industry

(4) Prostitutes would be drug tested to insure that they are not addicts and would receive treatment if they are.

If they are the first

Posted by Bruce - in Blog, Philosophy, Political - No Comments

I believe we must judge each individual as a separate person and not give them “extra benefits” because they are the first but reality tells me that society sees it differently. We bend out backwards to give breaks and ignore faults to those who are the “first” . What is most remarkable is the group that this individual belongs to could be the one to suffer the most detrimental effects from their leadership but they will continue to be this person’s biggest supporter.  Maybe it’s a feeling of standing by your team when things get rough but this isn’t sports this is reality.  So the next time someone runs as the first “Hispanic President”, “Jewish President”, “Woman President” or a combination of the above let’s make sure we the entire American family are the first in this individuals heart and soul instead of a group he/she belongs to.

How far would you go?

It is told we should help those least among us but how far should we go? If helping that individual brought direct harm to us most of us would avoid helping but what happens when it’s not so apparent?  Many of those in need of our help may suffer from living in poor unsanitary conditions and/or might have mental health issues but do those fears prevent us from lending a helping hand? If we act in such a way are we protecting ourselves or creating another form of a “Leper colony” where help is only given from a distance?  Here are a few ways (below)we can see whether we are helping another or putting ourselves in unnecessary risk.

(1) Do you have any prove that the individual needing help is dangerous or is it just something you heard through the grapevine?

(2) If it’s a grapevine how strong is the fruit in other words how reliable are the people that you hear it from?

(3) Have you approached the individual even from a distance to see whether these remarks bear a semblance to the truth?

(4) If so could you find another way to help? Maybe you can reach out to a relative or a community service that might be more equipped to help.

Driving a car for the Sabbath

Posted by Bruce - in Blog, Faith - No Comments

MY  COMMENTS ARE NOT MEANT TO DISPARAGE THOSE THAT ARE OBSERVANT

BUT OPEN THE DISCUSSION.

KINDLE A FIRE

I’m not a Torah Scholar although I would love to play one in a movie but I can’t understand why it would be a sin for me to drive a sickly person home on the Sabbath. I fully understand (see following paragraph) why many of the faithful won’t drive on the Sabbath and respect their views but if we won’t drive those that are sick they may never get to hear the word of G-D during the Sabbath. If we made them walk and struggle to get to the Shul wouldn’t we in turn be making them work on the Sabbath because it’s such an arduous task for them? Isn’t it a Mitzvah to help those who are trying to observe the faith?

KINDLE A FIRE ON SABBATH- Is prohibited according to the Torah. This ruling has been interrupted by many a Torah Scholar (which I am not) to mean you can’t drive on the Sabbath because you create a “spark” when you turn on your car. I interrupt it more literal in the sense that the way you kindle a fire is the way they did when the Torah was given with two sticks or even matches and that fire was used only to keep warm or cook a hot meal. On the Sabbath therefore I won’t light a fireplace but would be willing to start anything that has electricity. WHAT DO YOU THINK?

reporters

Reporters are supposed to be our Fifth State not be in bed with the other estate(s).  They are supposed to question authority not give them questions in advance (see link).   It shouldn’t make a difference whether the party in power represents their personal philosophy or not competence and corruption must be reported to the American people. Work at uncovering the truth instead helping to evade it. Do your damn job!

The Mango- G-D’s joke

Posted by Bruce - in Blog, funny - No Comments

SURE YOU GET THIS MUCH FRUIT.

I believe the Mango is G-D’s joke and he’s laughing at every bite.  Every time some person looks at this fruit they feel like they are getting a big meal until they hit the pit. It’s like 3/4 of the fruit.  It’s the joke that keeps on giving because no matter how many times you see it you always believe there’s got to be more fruit inside. The fruit is amazing but you have to buy 20 of them to get the same amount of fruit you get from let’s say an orange. Imagine a guy dropping Mango’s all over the floor as he …. Oops that’s G-D’s next joke.

Am I the only guy?

Posted by Bruce - in Blog, funny - No Comments

Last night I took a cooking class and you guessed what, I was the only guy. Let me make this perfectly clear I am a heterosexual  as a matter of fact this gift was given to me by my children. I just love to cook!  It was embarrassing the entire time the woman who conducted the class kept saying ladies with the occasional gentleman snuck in.  It’s not like it football season and the NCAA basketball tournament just started so what’s your excuse guys. Boy that sounds so g**.  Can’t a guy love to cook … with the ladies?  Just to make sure I’m still a man I’m going to change the oil … of my frying pan.

A lesson from the Malaysian Flight

#Malaysian Flight #Lesson

We have once again learned from the missing Malaysian flight that governments main function is to protect our national security. We now understand how a missing plane can easily turn into a terrorist suitcase that is packed with nuclear or chemical weapons..  Imagine the terror that could result as such a plane flies over a heavily populated area and when it is shot down releases poison gas to the innocent population.  It is the prime responsibility of government to insure that they protect us from such evil instead of worry about whether we eat trans fats or study the path of worm in the summer. Therefore we as citizens must demand that the resources for our security not be cut even at the expense of other less vital programs.

Politically In

HE RELATES TO HIS PAIN

I believe those that seek office must also be in on the current trends and cultural of the society that they seek to serve. I’m sorry to say that’s it not only about having great creative ideas and background that wins their vote but that they can actually relate to you as a person. If you’re into fancy wines and ballet while the society drinks beer and listens to Bruno Mars they may believe unfairly that you are a “snob” and have no idea how they live. It’s equally important that you don’t fake your interest because it’s obvious when that comes through but you should understand what others enjoy and more importantly why.  Politicians that truly understand the culture understand the people that they are serving and how best to meet their needs.
