Obama Timeout

timeout President time out chair

When toddlers act out to get attention often time out is utilized to make them reconsider how to act better in the future. I believe at this juncture we should consider the following action with the President. Of course he’s not going to be forced to sit in his room at the White House (that wouldn’t be so bad) but we must not let him get too much attention from his blatantly unconstitutional act of taking the Congress role in governance. We all know that the President can’t make laws as he is attempting to do with his illegal amnesty act but only enforce the laws that are on the book.   Yet if we make such a big deal about what he does he gets the attention he wants like a spoiled child and is drawn to act again.  Here is a better way (below) to deal with this President.

(1) On Friday have the leaders of the New Congress assemble a press conference which the media and the President will assume will be speaking about the President’s illegal action but instead focus on the important pieces of legislation that they intend to push through Congress this year  (Example Energy Independence Act). When the issue of the President act come up tell them that we will seeking a legal remedy to deal with this issue.

(2)  Hold up most of the President’s Appointments in  a quiet fashion (other business has  come up) until the President agrees to follow the law.

(3) Later on pass immigration reform act that deals with protecting the border first with clear markers and then the issue of treatment of illegal immigrants after 2016. This will insure that the next President will have to deal with the law on the books first before Congressional approved modifications will be adopted.

(4) Cut back funding for some of the President’s “Pet Projects” unless he agrees to rescind his actions but blame the deficit for the reasons this action had to occur.

Sad Truth

massacrre

It’s sad but true in the end cruelty works. Throughout history those tyrannical leaders who are the most cruel appear to be hold on to power. For example it took major wars to eliminate Hitler and Saddam Hussein but Iran’s Shah and England’s reign over it’s colonies occurred with much little bloodshed.  Just the illusion of being able to do whatever it takes to keep power insure the dictators reign of terror but when challenged the more cruel his/her response the more likely they will hold onto that power. The only way such evil can be eliminated is either by totally destruction of that source of evil (ISIS) or some spark of humanity to seep through (Soviet Union) and watch the whole process slowly crumbly from within.  We can try and contain it like Cancer but overtime that evil can seep through and kill more people then if we didn’t initially act.

Opportunities Obliterated

How many good opportunities have we obliterated? Maybe we were too busy to give them a chance, or maybe they were to good to be true either way those opportunities vanquished in the manner of the lifting of a rainbow. Or maybe we were too much of a perfectionist that the opportunity didn’t hit all our buttons.

I can honestly say I let one opportunity for fellowship dissipate. It was during the college orientation and I met this great group of guys but they had this wild and crazy party. A party where I fell asleep on the floor a few hour later. When this group asked to become suitemates I secretly backed out fearing that I would never get any work  done with such a group.  Needless to say my initial suitemates were less then likeable and when I came to visit my “should have been” suitemates they were studiously at their books.

I can honestly say that I have taken many dips  in the water that others would have felt was “to cold” although many left me cold and wet some still hold some continual warmth (see below).  Nobody has offered me the opportunity to invest in the next “Apple” or sell a few coins for the NY Skyline but I’ll keep eyes and heart open. For when opportunity knocks I swing it open.

(1) I was offered the opportunity for an all expense opportunity training session in becoming a speaker including hotel and airfare (by the internet). I took this chance and was rewarded with one of the greatest learning experiences of my lifetime.

(2) My friend asked me to invest a few (a bit more) dollars in a short that he was producing.  This film didn’t make it to the big or small screen but was an opportunity for my whole family to participate in the film process.

(3) When joining my new Shul they offered me the opportunity to be President of The Men’s Club. This position has lead me in different and exciting directions that I never would have expected when this position was first offered.

wall street Journal

My weekend reading of the Wall Street Journal gives me a new  perspective on people, places and things. These were some of the stories that made me think and wonder in a way that I hadn’t before.

(1) I was able to discover what it was like to be treated as an Ebola Patient in the United States and more about the sickness as a whole.

(2) Jeffrey Fowler gave me insight into what led him to leave a bible in North Korea (even though he knew he would go to jail if discovered) and how he would implement this act.

(3) The movement to enable students to see a ROI(Return on Investment)  on potential colleges and how some colleges are trying to prevent this information from getting out.

(4)  New insight was provided on Burkina current rebellion and how the forces are vying for power.

(5)Skirmishes between India and China are occurring more frequently on the mountainous border between those countries.

(6) Autobahn will now be charging fees for the use of this roadway and how this is a nationalistic move.

(7) American Rugby is coming to it’s own as they battle to become part of the 2016 Olympics.

(8) Peggy Noonan described her mothers path from Ellis Island to being allowed into the U.S. and how being quarantined was an expected part of this journey.

(9) New efforts for tolerance are new threats to our rights to free speech.

(10) Chimps have a high premeditated murder rate.

(11) The Finnish people have a unique way to find and keep high standards for the teachers that could be implemented in the U.S.

(12) Eating protein for breakfast will make you less hungry later in the day.

(13) Martin Short reveals how comedy helped him get through some very difficult moments in his life.

Brittany Maynard a different path.

Brittany Maynard

I can’t imagine the difficult path that Brittany Maynard has chosen, as she was diagnosed with a terminal brain tumor but I’d like to offer her a different path. This is the path which I in turn will take if  G-D forbid I’ve found myself in a similar situation. I would first try every experimental medicine and path out there to destroy the disease that is inflicting my body and insure that these results are available for further study. If those paths led to a closed door and my heart was still beating but very little else existed I wouldn’t want to be put on life support that extended my time for a week or so.  I would instead have my body plunged  into a water source and seek a direct remedy from G-D above. In the end it would be decided by G-D if this was my chosen time to be realized into his heavenly arms or see a miracle that gave me a 2nd chance to live here on earth. This way my family could be there for my 2nd chance or wish me well with my journey to the Lord.

A tower of lies

tower falling

It’s important to try to shoot for the stars but sometimes our greatest achievements are right here on earth; that is what I believe the biblical story of the Tower of Babel tells us. In this story the people’s of the world built this large tower to the heavens to try to show their greatness, G-D’s response was to disperse them across the globe. We sometimes forget when we are going for that big dream those behind us who are truly helping us in our daily achievements and for that we may need to get a sense of reality. Whether that occurs in a hurricane where we lose electricity and realize how fragile our possessions are or in sickness when all those other goals fall to the wayside; we must keep life’s goals in prospectus .  Shoot for the stars but always remember the ground where it all started and where you are still standing.

Uncomprehendable

Kool Aid 2

I’ve been a Met Fan so I understand illogical believing that your team will win even when logic dictates they won’t but when the game is over I accept reality. Therefore I accept and respect that loyalty given to the current occupant in the White House but I believe its’ time to put away the rah, rah flags and deal with reality.  We might still personally love our team but realize that their needs to be a change whether in policy, performance or leadership if we are truly to win as a country. I do not seek this blog as a way to argue about past Presidency but move together as one people and say that we demand better from our elected leaders.  Here are a few errors that I hope we all can agree on (below) because if the President here’s it from some of his friends maybe change will actually occur for the benefit of our nation.

(1) Inability to tell the truth-Please see link (below) that should bother Democrats & Republican’s alike.

http://www.bizpacreview.com/2013/12/18/pinocchio-obamas-top-20-presidential-lies-89096

(2) Unconstitutional Actions- Please see link below that all Presidents are sworn to uphold

http://www.forbes.com/sites/realspin/2013/12/23/president-obamas-top-10-constitutional-violations-of-2013/

(3) Poor Goverance- Whether it be the way the IRS  targeting fellow citizens, the poor, protection of our own Embassy,  Poor dispensing of the “stimulus package” or the vile treatment of our Veterans in the VA Hospital we should demand better.

(4) Foreign  Policy missteps- from our poor treatment of our allies like England, Germany and Israel to allowing our red lines to be crossed and crossed again we need a President who leads our country from the front.

(5) Economic Recovery that truly only helps the top 1% while a record amount of individuals are on Disability or welfare while the rest of us suffer with stagnant wages and underemployment. It’s time to put together policies that grow the economy for the benefit of all that want to work.

Pot -A BUD REFLECTION

Posted by Bruce - in Blog, Uncategorized - No Comments

smoking pot

The smell infiltrated my suite on a daily basis yet it never entered my lungs. I not only didn’t inhale but never tried this substance although my suitemates used it on a daily basis.  For them it was a job they went to and didn’t leave until the effect went away. For me it waste of time for someone who was trying  to change the world,  not just how I felt living in that world.  I was shocked to find that one of my best friends was also a user and unlike my suitemates tried to persuade to take a puff or two. I had all the psychological reasons to try this substance low self esteem, wanting to fit in and curiosity, yet the pressure never got to me for several reasons(see below) that I hold on till today.

(1) It pays for a drug dealer to buy bullets that can kill an innocent person in the drug war cross fire.

(2) Pot and other illegal drugs might come from unsanitary conditions since they are hidden in any spot to get to the end user.

(3) Marijuana is not regulated so it can be laced with other substances that might do more serious harm to my body.

(4) Pot has been shown to make many individuals  lazy, paranoid and can even lead to schizophrenia which I don’t want in my life.  I have one brain and I want to keep it as healthy as possible.

(5) Bringing smoke to your lungs can’t be healthy.

Friendly- Pro-Life

LEMONADE

I believe that it’s time for the Pro-Life movement to use the charm offensive to help limit the culture of death.  Although I truly respect my pro-life brothers and sisters who stand outside such clinics protesting I might not sure it’s the most effective way to change a mind.  Those individuals seeing such a demonstration might get in the defensive mode and not truly hear what is said. Therefore I believe the following approach might truly save more lives.

(1) Have small stands outside abortion clinics offering free homemade delicious drinks and snacks to those who would considering utilizing these abortion services. Offer these snacks for free and ask them for a moment of their time.

(2) Explain the better choice and offer them the resources right there to make this choice including housing for them and their unborn child, training, and counseling.

(3) Respect their decision either way but ask them to think about it over a day or so. By not pressuring individuals and giving them the facts and resources to make the right decision we’ve truly done G-D’s work. At this point all we can do is pray that they make the right decision.

PLEASE PUT ME ON SUCH A LIST OF VOLUNTEERS IF SUCH A GROUP ALREADY EXISTS.
