ART VS OBJECT

NICE SHOES

“Art” provides a wonderful source for a person or group of people to express or feel a certain emotion while an object gives you the place to have that feeling.  We watch a movie in our “favorite chair” or look at a wonderful piece of art with our favorite loafers yet the art gets all the attention while the object gets stepped on or sat on.  A movie can make us feel good for the moment but an object like carpet can make us feel comfortable for a lifetime. Those that sell objects don’t receive a “red carpet” although the carpet and shoe’s those “stars” wear allow them to make the “big splash”.  “Art” is wonderful and should be recognized as such but the objects that allow us to enjoy such art and those that sell it should receive their own standing ovation.

BLAMING THE VICTIM

blame the victim

This Administration as many in our society continually blame the victim whether it be through conscious words or subconscious act.  That is why it’s so difficult for them to use the word “Islamic Extremist” or state “Anti-Semitic acts” because they feel that if maybe they had more love or better economic opportunities they wouldn’t be “extremist”. Many of us live a similar lie as we see that evil acts must have a clear rationale. We look to the victim as somehow provoking such an action. If Israel gave up more land (even though they gave up the Gaza Strip for nothing), if they didn’t pick on him (although some of our greatest entrepreneur’s were bullied) if we left them alone (although we didn’t bother with Al Qaeda until they attacked us) if only they had better opportunities (we know how the poor in India live in peace)  but none of these rational will extinguish evil.   We know people who have gone through worse circumstances and never acted out in such an evil way.  We should always seek to improve society for all but must realize that evil act because it is evil. Therefore we must name that evil act be specific about the act they’ve committed and wipe that evil of the face of the earth.

USING

exchange

To give a gift anonymously is the only pure generous act.  When we openly do something for another individual we expect something in return it might be a simple kind word or smile or it might be reciprocal act in the future.  The truth is we all use people and they use us and this even goes along to our four legged friends.  Yet a user will continue to expect to get more from the relationship as it grows.  They will find a way for you to give until your wallet and bank account are empty or your car is out of gas.  A friendship on the other hand will not look for ever act to be rewarded directly but will look to the long term benefits of such a relationship.  I believe though that sometimes the simple act of kindness without expectation ends with the greatest reward a cleansed heart and soul.

Bruce Jenner & Mental Health

We watch in despair as many of our celebrities sink down in a mental health spiral that leads to destruction and even death as we feel helpless to stop the fall.  Adults should be able to do what they want with their bodies but when a 50 year old man suddenly desires to be a woman this could be a cry for attention or desperation. Bobbi Houston & Bruce Jenner are just two of the most recent celebrities that have fallen due to untreated mental health issues.  Whether it be Michael Jackson or Marilyn Monroe mental illness effects the celebrities as well as the general public. While we in the public might feel helpless those family and friends feel paralyzed as they watch their loved one fall further and further down.  It’s time that we make it easier for the  family and friends of loved one to intervene on  their behalf  (even if they don’t accept their illness) and in so doing stop this downward spiral.

Censorship NO but Boycott Maybe

boycott

I deeply believe that the government must not Censor any work of art or writing but we as individuals and members of certain groups can choose to spend our time and money as we see fit.  We do this on a daily basis based on our likes and sometimes because of our philosophies and/or values.  Yet to organize a boycott of a certain artist or performance(s) must only be utilized as a last resort.  Sometimes we want to boycott an artists for their stances outside of the art that they are producing and although I respect such tactics I wonder if it causes more pain to the ensemble then the artist themselves? The production of bad publicity can even generate sales that would not have occurred if this boycott wasn’t publicized as many people want to be rebellious or “stand up for free expression”.  When boycotts occur to frequently then they can diminish the cause they are fighting for and turn the movements cause into a farce. They also can motivate your opponents to organize boycotts against your cause or philosophy.

Art is intended to push the envelope to the edge and sometimes that’s too much for our personal values but sometimes when we stand on such an edge we see a world that we never knew existed. Their key is to be able to see such a world and appreciate their beauty without being pulled down into it and changing the type of person we want to be.  Time is short so see the art that agrees with the type of person you are but also open your eyes to standing on the envelope. You could always follow my footsteps by leaving early and getting your money back.

THE ELITE RISE

I believed that the economy wouldn’t be as strong as it has been under this Presidency but I was right on why it is this strong. For no matter how many blocks and bricks that are put in the way the most capable, persistent people will find a way to climb above those bricks or use those blocks to build something bigger. The 5 % have always found a way to strive and make things work even when all odds are against them that is why they continue to rise to the top. That is why there are wealthy people even in places like Russia, Iran & even North Korea.  It’s the 95 % who remain stagnant because either they lack the will and/or skill to climb above these blocks and bricks. They become complacent with the cake that is thrown at them from the government elite and will keep eating it until there’s nothing left. For that reason those blocks of regulation and bricks of taxes need to be lowered and the cake put in a freezer and when that occurs then the rest of us can truly reach our potential.

PINK SLIP for NBC Anchor Brian Williams

REALLY?

NBC Anchor Brian Williams should be packing his desk tonight if there is an ounce of integrity at NBC news.  How can your leading Anchor fabricate a lie that he repeats over 12 years and only admits fault when the Roosters & Chickens come home to roost?  If this was not enough of a reason for his dismissal he has also fabricated lies during Hurricane Katrina that again were used to bolster his image.  Network news should be some what true or we could all just watch MSNBC.  Brian Williams could still work at NBC maybe as a skit writer for SNL because he has become a total joke.  PLEASE SHARE IF YOU AGREE

Listen to a voice.

Sometimes some of the greatest advise can come from the most unlikely source and when you open your ears and mind to that  voice the true voice will appear.  Many a scholar will dismiss the advise of “the uneducated” but there is great wisdom found in the streets that can’t be found in any textbook.  We can shun the advise from someone who doesn’t belong to our group but sometimes those from outside can truly see what’s going on inside.  This is what occurred with Moses when Jethro came to see him and advised him to select judges to hear the concerns of many of the people. Jethro believed that it was too much for one person to hear all the complaints, questions and concerns. Moses easily could have ignored the advise believing it came from an outsider but instead followed that advise.  Maybe that is why after this incident G-D called Moses to Mount Sinai to present him with the laws directly. In our own life’s let us not ignore those voices because we never know when one simple thought might lead to a great advance in our destination.

Be Presidential

Netayahu

It’s time the President show respect for the office he holds! When a leader of our  greatest ally is invited to speak in front of Congress by the leader of the legislative body the President should take a few minutes to speak to him as well. Whether the President loves this leader or loathes him personally is not the issue instead it’s  about respect.  Prime Minister Netanyahu was invited to speak he didn’t ask to speak and although he should have probably contacted the White House that doesn’t mean he should have turned down that invitation, especially when so much is it a stake not just for Israel but the entire free world.  Iran, ISIS and other Islamic Extremist are a growing threat in Israel’s backyard and therefore Israel and her Prime Minister know best how to counter them. The President can’t ignore the valuable insight the Prime Minister brings no matter what his ideology might be because that threat continues to grow to (G-D forbid) hit our homeland.  The Presidency itself demands that the President first job is to protect the American people against foreign enemies and if the President let’s petty squabbles interfere with that responsibility he needs to step down.

The Truth

 newsroom

Wouldn’t it be great if there was a newspaper that told the news not made the news? A newspaper that would tell the who, what, where and when and then give the reader several options on the why. “THE TRUTH” intends to be such a newspaper where red, white & blue can get the facts without feeling that there is a deeper political motivation within the story.  This newspaper will do deep investigation but look at those investigation from various angles instead of one which the editor approves.  There will be commentary of course but as one side is presented then the other will be as well.  It’s time we build “THE TRUTH” where journalism integrity can be reborn.
