St. Patty’s Day Parade-becomes accept me parade

St Patty's Day

St Patty’s Day is a joyous occasion where even those who aren’t Irish or Catholic celebrate with a glass of Guinness Beer and/or a Corned Beef Sandwich but we should understand the roots of the holiday deal with a Saint who brought Christianity to Ireland. Although the holiday has expanded to taking pride in feeling a bit of Irish in all of us the organizers of the St. Patty’s Day Parade had for years considered it’s Catholic roots which strongly condemn the act of Homosexuality.  Those who were gay could easily participate in the parade without pushing their sexuality view on everyone who attended.  I thought this parade was to celebrate Ireland not sexuality?  I also thought being gay was just another characteristic of a person not how that individual should be viewed entirely? Homosexuality isn’t a race, religion, or even a culture according to those who broadcast it to the community so why should a sign be necessary to show that?  Maybe next year they could have a group for Oral sex lovers as well.  Yet the St. Patty’s Day Parade has become another symbol of the gay movement forcing us not to tolerate their lifestyle choice but instead accept it or face the legal and if necessary violent consequences.  I hope someday we can move away from the agenda and just be who we are as a whole instead of being labeled with a giant sign above our head.
