Hockey anyone?

Hockey is a sport that I’ve enjoyed watching when I was a little puppy in L.I. but haven’t looked at again that is until last night.  The puppy part isn’t actually true but it’s been awhile since I actually watched a game. I believe the last game I actually sat through to watch was the Olympic game of the U.S verse Russia.  I couldn’t imagine a better hockey game so why even try to watch another game. It also proved to me that the fighting in the sport could easily be stopped and was sorta miffed that they let it continue.   As time goes on you realize you have less time and therefore you can’t watch every sport. You have to pick and choose and I’ve chosen football because it’s schedule usually works with me and even the commercials are entertaining.

Last night I gave it another look as the NY Rangers battled the LA Kings for the Stanley Cup.  It was as an exciting game as the sport would allow but it was hard to watch continuously  with that little puck going so fast back and forth. I thought I was watching “Pong” (old video game reference) on steroids.  These athletes have incredible talents but unless you see it live I believe it’s easily overlooked.  The constant motion doesn’t lead to the buildup of other sports except as time runs out.  As strange as this might seem I sorta miss the commercial interruptions, that give my mind a moment to get excited again when the action resumes.  To conclude I will stop watch the “Stanley Cup” although it will only be glanced at between my writing, reading and eating.
