Some people were disturbed by the humanizing of Kim Jung Un in the movie “The Interview” but the truth is most dictators and tyrants are nice … to a few. They are extremely kind and generous to their supporters and to those they seek to impress. We must realize whether it’s the leader of Iran Hassan Rouhani or the former leader of Iraq Saddam Hussein they must know how to charm the masses to get into power and then be nice to those individuals who assure that they keep the power. Fear goes so far and that’s where charm, passion, charisma and even generosity comes in to fill the void. Let us not be enticed by the use of these traits but look at the death and destruction their leadership brings instead. Please note Adolf Hitler was very generous to those who supported him, was dog lover and even a vegetarian that used his power not to kill animals but millions of innocent men, woman and children.
Time VS Energy
No matter what others might tell you it’s not the hours that you work but the energy you put into the hours that makes you shine above the rest. Whether your a quarterback suddenly called in to make that miraculous throw, the singer who belts out the National Anthem better then anyone else, the inventor that produces that one product everyone is talking about, or that worker who outperforms everyone else it’s the energy at the right moments that people remember. It’s important to be the reliable person who comes to work on a regular basis but those truly with the “Energy” are the ones that continue to soar to the top. I’m sorry to say but these individuals can screw up in so many ways in their daily lives but they some how have the instinct to put it all together when it is truly needed. To conclude most of us don’t have the ability to put it together at only the exact moment so we must continue to work hard so that we can be ready to have our own “Energy Moments“.
Not mine.
This isn’t my blog! It’s actually owned by someone way more important. A matter of fact I own nothing. I possess my items and thoughts but I know in a split second they can be taken away. The truth is I have worked to help create things like a computer helps to add numbers. A computer can not turn on by itself and neither can I make anything without this higher authority allowing me to turn my mind, heart and soul on. In the end I conclude that I’m truly grateful to G-D for allowing me to possess these thoughts and objects. I can only hope and pray that the true creator will continue to keep me plugged in so I can be play a part in his creation.
Excitement & Crime
I believe that it might not be poverty or upbringing that lead someone toward a life of crime but their need for “excitement”. Poverty and/or upbringing might be the catalyst that pushes them over the edge but that thrill of getting away doing something illegitimate is probably the main factor. Even those with a strong moral code that prevents them acting out in ways to hurt others might find ways of excitement that hurt themselves. This is probably one of the main reasons people will try illicit drugs even though they know someone else who has been harmed by this substance. Therefore we need to find out those individuals who have such traits and insure that they utilize it for more productive and positive pursuits. Whether it be working on a cutting edge project, learning the excitement of education, being involved in artistic and/or athletic pursuit or taking a risk with starting a new business there are plenty of ways this trait can be used for good.
Action is all that counts
For too many it doesn’t matter what you actually as long as you act. These individuals aren’t as concerned about whether a leaders actions are legal or even right in many instances, they just want to see that the ball keep rolling and if it tramples over a few rules or even people along the way so be it. This is why dictators are so appealing to the masses because they don’t have to go through Congresses or Courts to get things done. This is also why President Obama has had an up tick in his popularity because whether you like it or not the President has recently taken direct actions. I can understand the appeal of leadership that is decisive but as much as I want action I personally must balance that desire with the rights and responsibilities guaranteed by the Constitution to the various branches of government. I don’t expect leadership to get a ticket for going 60 in a 55 speed limit but driving a 112 is a different story. We must be just as concerned with actions that hurt our constitution then actions not taken.
Pay more get less
Imagine if you went to the car dealership with $ 100,000 (nice to dream) and ended up with a Yugo while another customer with $10,000 ended up with a Mercedes Benz would you think that was fair? Yet today those that pay more get much less then those who pay less in one extremely important institution. An institution we all are made to depend on, “the government”. Now don’t get me wrong I don’t believe the wealthy should get welfare checks, a matter of fact I’m against corporate welfare in most cases, but shouldn’t there be some benefits in being the biggest contributor to this entity? Maybe they should have a gold card that lets them get to the front of the line at government offices such as the social security office or maybe they should have a special number so they get preferential treatment when they need governmental assistance. It could be a simple thank you card during the Christmas/Hanukkah season for there contribution or a brick in their name at the White House. No matter what we should acknowledge that those with means that they’ve earned through the system give more money back to the system then the rest of us and get less in return. If your one of these contributors I for one say thank you.
Government hurts charity
As I review my yearly budget I realize how much government destroys local charities. For after deducting all living expenses I not only realize that I will have to work for a longer period of time and devout less time to charity but that my obligation to pay big brother hurts my ability to help my local little sisters and brothers. These taxes are such a heavy burden that I can’t afford to give a decent amount to those charities that truly make a difference. If we multiply this effect by a nation we will understand why heavy taxes and regulations truly hurt the local poor and disadvantage in our communities. For government has no incentive to be efficient and effect change because it needs those dependent to have a reason for it’s existence while charities look to effect change so that they can showcase the good works they do and therefore be deserving of the monies they receive. Therefore if we are truly to effect positive change we must lower taxes in a way that incentivizes giving to local charities and truly help those less fortunate.
When not to talk
There are ties it’s best to save your breath. It all depends on the people you are dealing with. I don’t believe it’s necessary to be rude but being polite doesn’t mean to start a conversation. If 3 out of 4 (below exist) it’s best to keep that mouth zipped.
(1) The person you’re talking with has taken parts of your remarks to make themselves look good and you bad.
(2) This person truly doesn’t care what you’re thinking about.
(3)This leader has led his/her group without a true interest in those that they are serving and instead has done everything just to keep the power they have.
(4) This individuals consistently works with those that are opposed to you or your ideals.
Let them come to you (Fidel & Raul) with some chips in hand before the conversation begins.
A day I fear we will regret
Today the decision by Sony to cancel the premiere of “The Interview” because of terrorist threats and President Obama opening the door to a rogue nation without preconditions may set us for disaster in the future. G-D knows I pray that I’m wrong but when a shark smells blood it is more likely to attack and today our country had two open wounds. The United States government should have instead done what it needed to protect the interest of private citizens from terrorist attacks and not open the door to Cuba until they showed various steps to normalization with the U.S. Instead we had the worst timing possible as we capitulated to terrorism threats while the administration played the weakest hand possible in dealing with Cuba. Evil reads weakness and I fear will act toward our weakness.
Positive Regulations
If you know me you general won’t see these two words positive and regulation in the same sentence but there are exemptions. Usually I prefer incentives for businesses to do the right thing but when it comes to our national security and the rights of an individual then government might have such a limited right to get involved. Here are two examples where I believe the government should act. FOR THOSE THAT OBJECT PLEASE PROVIDE AN ALTERNATE REMEDY.
(1) GAS NATIONAL SECURITY ACT– Our country must not be dependent on oil from the Mideast to survive and currently members of OPEC are trying to destroy this industry in our own land. Therefore the government must purchase and store gas from the foreign markets to insure our industries don’t go bankrupt. By buying the supply it will regulate the price so our companies can still survive and our government can release that oil should OPEC try to raise prices excessively in the future.
(2) EMAIL PRIVACY ACT– Individual citizens should expect a certain degree of privacy when they send private text, emails or other ways to communicate. Therefore the press should be forbidden to report on such emails or other ways to communicate without the consent of at least one of the parties.
