Another Movie I should have watched earlier.

dead poet society

I know I should have watched this movie years ago but a movie about a bunch of young men in prep school studying poetry really didn’t appeal as interesting as the latest horror or action movie and at times I felt my initial view was right with many a slow scene. Yet just like a good bottle of Scotch “The Dead Poet’s Society” grows on you and leaves you with a lingering warm feeling.

For it is not just about Poetry (although it makes me want to take a class or two) but the art of teaching and love of learning.  We sometimes relegate teaching to the black and white caulk board where there are so many wonderful colors that we can explore instead.  “The Dead Poet’s Society” also touched on true happiness that occurs not only through the paycheck you receive but the love of the work you perform.  I understand that “The Dead Poet Society” is an old dead movie to many but it’s message lives within my heart and soul.

Terror at Home

What happens if the world that we thought was “Safe and Sound” becomes truly the face of horror and terror. “Terror at Home” takes you where other horror scripts dare to go, your home and shows you fear that you’ve never experienced before. What happens in those areas that we have never truly explored right behind our backyard and when those are disturbed nothing will ever be the same! Fear no longer has to be found away but is right at home. Are you up to exploring terror with me?

Purge 2 – bad and good

Purge 2

I don’t believe I’m having an episode it’s just that this movie gave me so many reasons to hate but I still liked it at the end.  To be kind the acting was less then inspiring.  The typical Hollywood anti-religion and anti-wealth themes seeped through as well yet this didn’t distract as much as I expected mainly because the action scenes were well cut and the film moved at a rapid and engaging pace. There were also many twists and turns that I didn’t expect.  Purge Anarchy survives what could have been a deadly night because of these wonderful aspects.

Survival Human

It’s time for a reality show that is truly real. A show that test the strength physically, mentally and emotionally of it’s contestants.  “Survival Human” is such a show where contestants are taken to some of the most difficult terrains with just their clothes on their backs and must find a way to survive without causing undue pain to their bodies or souls.

These contestants must be able to find livable conditions in unlivable terrains.  They will have to find a way to eat nutritional meals where nothing appears to exist find shelter that protects their inner and outer body. Challenges will occur which might depend on them working together just to get through but in the end only one will survive. “Survival Human” will showcase how the mind, body and soul of a human can endure almost anything.

Too difficult

animals natural disasters animal natural 2

As Hurricane Arthur wreaks havoc to my fellow Homosapien (Human’s) I’ve wondered how those without vehicles and strong shelters hold up against these natural disasters.  How do they protect themselves from 100 mile winds or torrential rains and if they survive where do they go for food and shelter afterwards?  We can learn a great deal from those creatures that have had to weather the storms, earthquakes, extreme heat, extraordinary cold and without even  a jacket to protect them. A documentary could highlight ways we could survive in G-D forbid similar situations occurred to us and challenge to think differently about the world around us.

To produce such a documentary appears to be an impossible challenge though because we would need the right equipment at the right time and with the correct lighting.  We would also need a budget to fund a crew to travel the world to capture these special moments. Yet if my fellow furry friends could survive hurricanes, earthquakes and tornadoes with just the fur on their back well maybe this is possible too.  Is it too difficult or are you up for the challenge!

Filmmakers Society

filmmakers

It’s time to create a society that enables the talented film making community to work along with those truly interested in the art of making a film, to produce projects where everyone has the chance to get involved.  The “Film Makers Society” would be such an organization where you can play a role in making film(s). The role you play will be based on your talents, interest and financial commitment to the organization. Where various membership will receive different benefits but to keep it simple here is what the standard membership would get you (below).

(1) Invite to Red Carpet Screening.

(2) Invitation to watch production of films (at certain dates)

(3) Discount on film merchandise

(4) Vote on which film we should produce.

(5) An Opportunity to try out for cast and/or crew in film.

(6) An opportunity to be in an extra in the film.

(7) Special invite to any film parties.

WOULD YOU PUT YOUR NAME IN THE LIGHTS?

Film Budget must be rough.

budget

Those that write film budgets or any other budget must consider their work to be rough. It is easy to change  a 6 figure budget to a  7 figure budget just by adding one “A name star”. The budget can change drastically as well if you get a well known director or even change a locations.  The purpose of the budget therefore is to give a starting place for those who would finance such a project so that they can get an idea of what they get from their monies and nothing more.

Noah the movie not only survives but thrives

Noah the movie

#Noah the movie, # Movie Review

If you’re looking for the biblical account of “Noah” you probably will be disappointed with this film but if your looking for a dramatic account that touches on the key moral points of this biblical story this film definitely succeeds.  The acting is sensational and the effects are incredible. The script is fine although slow at times but I believe the most significant feature  in it is that it let’s you feel what a person who witnessed and went through the great flood might feel and how they could react.  I can understand how the biblical scholar would be disappointed in the film but films are supposed to be entertaining and make you think not just give you the facts.
