Kabbalah- Jewish Mysticism

kabbalah

I’ve decided to explore Kabbalah as it takes me through “Jewish mysticism”. It is basically my goal to understand the roots of this movement and to see if some of it’s principles can play a role in my life.  My initial exploration has shown me that many of it’s principles appear to align themselves well with the 60’s religious movements except that Kabbalah has G-D as it’s foundation. I will share with you some points that stand out as time goes by.  I’m not sure how much I will accept and how much I will reject or if my own ego will be the cause of this rejection or if logic will dictate that decision but at least this path will be open. This will be a slow process but overtime I hope this understanding will enable me to be a better person with my family and community at large.

Sometimes it takes a Rabbi

confused

There are sections of the Torah/Bible that appear not relevant to today’s times when we read them alone but when advised by clergy their relevance shines through. The clergy have this unique perspective because they truly study the material deeper then we do and continue their studies.  For example when reading about a Metzora, a person who becomes unclean with appearance on their body and/or possessions the layman might conclude this is some type of infection that today we could treat with antivirus drug but they miss the entire point. The Metzora is infected because of speaking ill about another person that leads to gossip.  Just like the effects gossip can have on a community we shouldn’t allow it to continue to spread.  We should isolate these contentious words as we would isolate a person who suffered the conditions of Metzora.  Without the discussion with a clergy member we might miss this whole point and as such miss the most relevant part of this reading.

Heaven/ Hell who goes there

heaven hell

While there are many differences between the faith about who goes in which direction after death I believe there can be common ground. For I belief there are different paths to heaven and although one might be a bit less arduous then another that path still remains open to most.  On the other hand when your heart has been hardened away, from the pain you cause for the acts of sin, you can be assured that the path of hell is awaiting you. Asking for true forgiveness and seeking a different path is a way to stop this downward spiral.  The first act is a clear warning just like Pharoah had his but as you continue down this path there becomes less a chance of recovery. In other words the more you distance yourself away from your soul the harder the path to heaven becomes. By being a person of faith who humbles himself in front of his creator and seeks to live a life as such the path to heaven is open to thee.

Homosexuality & Cigarettes

We’ve heard many people from secular society say  that all the homosexual community wants is to be accepted but I believe that is just smoke in the face to those of faith.  For would you accept your son and daughter being a chain smoker or would you try to change them?  You might ask what does one activity that damages or kills your life here have to do with another activity that appears to be perfectly safe (accept unprotected) in this world. Those of faith don’t just worry about our loved ones now but their eternal soul as well.   We believe that by acting in certain ways it not only hurts your connection to G-D eternally but might hurt your connection to the lord now.  Those of faith understand that decisions by the individual must not be forced by the sword but be met by the soulful reflection of such an individual.   We ask that our faithful concerns are met with love and tolerance even if they disagree because it’s out of love and concern that we dare address them in the first place.

RICH POOR SAME SEATS

THIS IS REAL EASY SO YOU WANT HAVE TO GET DANDRUFF

Their is one place where the wealthy and less fortunate actually sit in the same seats. It may not be found at the same restaurants, hotels, stores, or positions they have so where is this location?  This is a location where a greater truth will be found that will give you meaning for this life and the life to come.   Where wealth might bring you a closer seat to the pew but the meaning permeates throughout the entire room as if you’re all sitting in the front row.  WHAT IS THIS PLACE?

SACRIFICE

Are you willing to make a sacrifice when you do something wrong intentionally or unintentionally?  Would you sacrifice your wealth or success for a greater good at a certain time?  When the Tabernacle and Temple my ancestors did just that as they brought their most worthy possessions (their animals) to the mount to be sacrificed to G-D. Yet this sacrifice was only for mistakes they made to G-D for sins that were committed against fellow human beings forgiveness from those individuals must also be sought. Today we don’t have the Temple to offer such a sacrifice but if instead when we sinned ( intentionally or unintentionally) we truly asked to be forgiven and gave of our financially reasons and/or other means to those less fortunate I believe that sacrifice would cleanse our souls as well.

ALONE

How many years did it feel like as I felt alone? Whether it was sitting at a lunch table where no one else sat or being in a crowded room but feeling like a ghost with just a wind passing between me and another person.  Feeling alone still haunts me in my dreams and thoughts years later when the experiences are much less relevant that was until last night. Last night I realized the truth that I was and you are never alone.  Your best friend and creator is sitting right next to you.  You could be stuck in a hospital where no else visits you or alone at a movie theater because everyone else is busy but G-D always has the time and is there with you. G-D doesn’t need an invite and as even there when know one else seems to care G-D does. The Creator will a find a way to lift you out of your despair and loneliness if you just acknowledge his presence in your life and ask for G-D’s help.  So the next time your feeling alone look past the empty seat and feel that G-D is here sitting across from you and caring for you like no other can.

Miracles!

MIRACLE

If after you prayed a miracle occurred would you link your personal prayer to the miracle? How would you know if your divine words changed G-D’s heart or whether someone’s else’s prayers or deeds were the reason this occurred.  Yet if your prayers were the reason G-D intervened and you didn’t take any notice of his answer would G-D intervene again or move on to someone else who noticed his deeds?  This is a extremely difficult thought to process because you want others to see the actions that G-D can play in their lives through prayer but you don’t want them to pray to you.   I believe the answer resides in balance for all though  G-D pays special attention to those who live their lives trying to serve him he still answers the prayers of all of us.  These individuals may acknowledge that their prayers have been answered but it’s just as likely that this occurred  because of the prayers of others then just the prayers of them. WHAT DO YOU BELIEVE?

G-D brings home.

heaven's gate 2 heaven's gate

The death of a loved one appears so tragic to us but when we realize that they are in a better place the pain slowly dissipates like the body they leave behind. We want them to be here with us to enjoy our moments of joy and comfort us during difficult times but understanding that they are working for a higher source now, can ease some of that pain.  Our memories of good times can appear painful in the present but can give us comfort and gratefulness for having had the luck to experience them at all.  It is difficult to deal with what could have been if G-D let them stay to complete there work here but knowing that they are home in peace should help us in the future.

Today’s Golden Calf

Turning away

It always appeared hard for me to imagine how people could build and worship a Golden Calf when G-D appeared so directly in front of them only a moment ago but today many of us have our own Golden Calf’s.  These individuals act in ways that they know only lead down the wrong path but worse off they tried to persuade others to act in such ways as well. We might not have seen the direct light of G-D through a burning bush but there are so many signs (rainbow, babies eye’s, breath of air etc) that even if we try we can’t turn away.  Here are just a few examples of Golden Calf’s (below) that shine brightly today instead of being annihilated as should be the case.

ISIS  & ISLAMIC TERRORISM-  These groups actions against innocent civilians is anything but religious and the response from the west especially as it kills innocent Christians is deplorable.

DEATH DRUG DEALERS Those that deal drugs such as Heroin and Crack and try to persuade others to join are actually leading many down a path of destruction and death.

ANTI ZIONIST CAMPAIGNS  Individuals and groups that have preached the destruction of the Jewish people and/or state hasn’t only lead to their own demise and death.

ATHEIST CAMPAIGNS  Groups that actively try to destroy those of faith through belligerent and hateful campaigns will only cause pain and suffering to themselves.
