I was filled with melancholy as little things started to weigh down on me so I did the complete opposite of how I felt and smiled. I just couldn’t let the days events slow me to a crawl so I had to find a way to turn this frown upside down or really inside out. The truth is it worked and helped change my attitude in that instant. It’s not as if my problems went away but at least they were swept a bit deeper under the rug so I could keep pushing them out of the way… for now. Forced smiling works to keep those blues from playing too long in your heart and that’s a better sound in the long term.
