Eye for an Eye

If we took this biblical verse literally “eye for an eye” would we see better or become blind?  For if we really felt that every action we take had an equal consequence would we decide to walk in an entire direction or continue to risk losing parts?  An eye for an eye may not be the way we judge others but ultimate the final judge could be balancing our scale and acts of goodness might tilt it in our favor so that we can see a new path to health, happiness, love and peace. Let us pledge to live life as  G-D is the great accountant adding more sight to ever good deed we do.
