Esau- A Different Side

esau esau-2

The commentators/ Midrash from the Torah have a dark way to describe Esau yet I see this man in a different light especially in today’s times. For Esau is described as a hunter who would sell his name for some food and the Midrash describes him as someone who faked his faith to his father to gain the upper end. You might ask why this is important in today’s times and the answer is simple Esau is considered by many the link to those of the Muslim faith .  You can see and imagine how this has caused resentment within many in their faith communities.

Esau and Jacob didn’t get along as do many brothers even today and although it’s important to try to bring families together sometimes separation can truly help each individual grow.  This story illustrates that divide and although they may never be as close as they were when they were young that doesn’t mean they can’t build a bridge of peace between them.  Each can be happy with each others success being there for those special moments in life but separating to find their own path to health, happiness, peace and success.
