Brock Turner would have had a better chance of redeeming his own life if he was sentenced to six years instead of six months which he got out in 3. If he was sentenced to the full six years he probably would have got out in 3 years without much of a peep from the “free world”. He would have been able to start anew and would have been forgotten about.
Now after serving only 3 months for his despicable act he is the poster boy for “white wealthy privilege” and will always be known as such no matter where or what he does with his life. Maybe over time that name might lesson in some people’s hearts but for others it will continue to burn bright lessening the chance to change his life around. Furthermore should Mr. Turner be involved in any criminal activity the new judge will be more likely to throw the book at him and a few more books along the way. The OJ effect will continue to live with Brock and he should have many more years to live with it.
