Yom Kippur- A Fast for the World-Basic Judaism

Yom Kippur

Tonight begins the most somber and serious holiday to Jews around the world for as we fast we ask for forgiveness for the sins that not only we’ve committed but others around us as well and the world as a whole. We hope that our fast from food and water over this time period will be acceptable to G-D so that we can be written in the book of life for another year.  That one moment longer with our fast will help forgive the sins that others have done whom we may not even know but truly are looking to start anew.  If for some reason I have hurt someone directly or indirectly I seek your forgiveness. May this new year and the fast of the Jewish people bring peace, health, wisdom, forgiveness and happiness to all G-D’s children from sea to shiny sea.
