the oscars

Here (below) is who I believe should win the nomination in various categories and who I predict will actually win and why.  Disclaimer-if I didn’t see a majority of the movies in a category I will * star that category.

(1) BEST PICTURE

A. SHOULD WIN- American Sniper– This is the real deal great acting, directing, cinematography and one of the few movies better then the book. Won’t win because the topic and director are political incorrect.

B. FINE IF IT WINS-Whiplash is a strong 2nd place but I’m fine if Imitation Game takes it as well.

C. WILL WIN- Boyhood- Too much hype about a movie that was made over 12 years and felt like that for the viewer.

(2)BEST ACTOR

A. SHOULD WIN- Bradley Cooper-A performance of a lifetime but since he’s in a politically incorrect movie it might be tough for him to win

B. FINE IF HE WINS- Eddie Redmayne- An incredible transformation of a character.

C. WILL WIN- Michael Keaton- He has the sympathy vote since he hasn’t been in a big dramatic movie in years.

* (3) BEST ACTRESS

A. SHOULD WIN -I really don’t know since the only movie I saw in this category was “The Theory of Everything” and she was fine but not spectacular.

B. WILL WIN- Julianne Moore- Plays a character who is developing Alzheimer, need I say more

(4) BEST ACTOR IN A SUPPORTING ROLE

A. SHOULD WIN- J.K Simmons– Hands, Feet and Drumstick down the best actor in this category.

B. FINE IF HE WINS-Robert Duval– I’m not actually fine with it but I like Robert Duval and he did a decent job in this role.

C. WILL WIN- Edward Hawke– He’s the popular good looking dude in Hollywood probably is the life of the party as well.

Disclaimer didn’t see Foxcatcher

(5) BEST ACTRESS IN A SUPPORTING ROLE

A. SHOULD WIN-Keira Knightley– very captivating in her role

B FINE IF SHE WINS- Emma Stone- She really did a terrific job in a lousy movie.

C. WILL WIN- Patricia Arquette– The emotional scene at the end of the movie has the Oscar pickers grabbing their handkerchief and their vote for her.

*(6) CINEMATOGRAPHY

A. SHOULD WIN- The Grand Budapest Hotel-It is visually captivating

B. FINE IF IT WINS- Not sure because didn’t see many of the nominees

C. WILL WIN- Birdman– For it’s artistry experiment. Please note experiments can lead to Frank stein.

(7)  BEST DIRECTOR

BOYCOTT- MY PICK- How could Clint Eastwood in American Sniper not be nominated.

(8) BEST ADAPTED SCREENPLAY

A. SHOULD WIN & WILL WIN- American Sniper-  This way they can give an Oscar to a fine film and rub it in at the same time.

B. FINE IF IT WINS- The Imitation Game- It had a unique way to tell this story.

(9) BEST ORIGINAL SCREENPLAY

A.  SHOULD WIN– Nightcrawler – This script is incredible and I feel sorry this film was nominated in other categories.

B.    FINE IF IT WINS-Grand Budapest Hotel- A unique story that takes you on a maze of adventure.

C.  WILL WIN- Boyhood- I close my eyes with tears as I write this but the Oscar Pickers feel sorry for any film that takes 12 years to make. I wish it took a 100 years to write and then I probably wouldn’t have seen it.
