Technical Words

intelligent dog

If you want to appear as an expert use technical words. Words that you have to find in a medical, scientific or legal dictionary. Those around might have no idea what you’re actually saying but will be impressed and truly appear to be listening because they don’t want to appear naive or unintelligent. The coverage you will receive for your words will be tectonic and the event will truly be momentous even if you’re talking about ordure.

Embarrassment- A BUD REFLECTION

I had just begun my college and I had a tectonic plan that was going to shake the college campus unfortunately it only shook me. As President and Organizer of the “Students for Reagan/Bush for SUNY Albany I had planned to bring out all the bells and whistles to our first event so I rented a classroom that held 200 people and invited all the local media to attend.  I made posters and spread them throughout the campus to insure the campus was as excited to attend. On the night of the event the media did attend unfortunately only five students including my laughing suite mates attended as well. I continued to speak and the press coverage wasn’t as horrific as I expected but I learned an important lesson that day keep the room small and you will look much bigger.

Misery loves company

group therapy

When things around aren’t going well there is a desire to be around those who have been through the same pains if not worse. For some reason you feel better when you know someone also has been hurt like you.  I guess there is a feeling that someone truly understands what you’ve been through but do we truly want another individual to be hurt like us? Wouldn’t it be more compassionate to be the one willing to bear the pain and hurt  instead?  It’s an interesting dilemma but we can take some solace in knowing that when great news comes we want to be around others that have shared that happiness as well. Let us then pray that in the times to come misery won’t need company because happiness will surround the world instead?

The Sin of our time

Every generation looks back on the other generation and wonders how and why they could have let “this/these heinous acts” to continue. They wonder where were the moral leaders who watched this occur and did nothing. Here are a few thoughts that I would consider.

(1) The Syrian Government’s use of Chemical Gas on it’s people?

(2) Ebola Epidemic facing Africa.

(3) Russia’s invasion of the Ukraine

(4) The systematic killing of Christians & Kurds by ISIS and similar groups.

What to believe?

HIS VOICE STINKS BUT NICE MICROPHONE.

How many times has an individual(s) pushed you away from something you truly liked because they said you were no good? The truth is that an individual(s) might perceive that your not a talented singer, actor, or basketball player but please note Elvis, Tom Cruise and Michael Jordan have all had their critics.  There also might be some constructive criticism hidden behind those blunt words that truly can improve your talent.  We might not turn out to be a star on Broadway or the Red Carpet but as long as we truly enjoy this activity then there is no reason we shouldn’t pursue it and feel good about it.  The love of the art not it’s rewards should motivate us to keep going no matter what the world or a few individuals might believe. Even if the shower or the closet is our only audience at least there standing up for us. I say pursue your loves with the insurance of a steady paying job behind you.

Star or Deer?

KATE YOU HAVE COMPETITION

Which would you rather see a Celebrity or a rare animal? I’m not sure there is a right answer because I guess it depends on the time and place. For example I’m sure you wouldn’t want to discover a rare tarantula while eating your salad but seeing an Eagle in NYC might top seeing Tom Cruise getting into a cab.  Yet there is still something special about seeing that deer that makes my day. Maybe it’s the feel of freedom and beauty that captures my heart and soul or maybe it’s just their simplicity.  I think I’d look past that deer though if Kate Upton was standing behind her.

Between Hospitals & Home

There should be centers that provide training and basic health-care to those that need it without the expense and burdens of an actual hospital. These facilities would help insure that those mothers who have just had babies can properly care for them and themselves, help those understand a new medical device that has been added to their daily routine and help those deal with the loss that medical advances couldn’t heal or replace. These would be places individuals would stay for a day or two so that they can best be ready for their new stages in life with the preparations they truly need

Hospital Stays Require More

hospital

It is quite traumatic for any healthy individual to have to stay in the hospital for their body as well as their mind and while they are being treated for their physical ailments we should consider the psychological impact as well. For example people who stay at hospitals can have extreme feelings of depression, boredom and confusion.  Here are a few ways that this hospital stay can be a bit brighter for the mind as well.

(1) Visits by Mental Health professionals to discuss such feeling and provide activities to stimulate the mind.

(2) Where possible light group activities to keep individuals socially alert.

(3) Art, music and meditation therapy to help alleviate negative emotions.
