A Prejudice that continues and nobody is fighting against including me

Prejudice is to have a preconceived judgment on someone without them evening saying a word. Today all around the world certain individuals are given preferential treatment in employment, discounts, and in general, life.  Please note that there is some hard work and expense to keep up this advantage over others yet it is not equivalent to the hard work that others must perform just to keep up. I honestly have to say that I carry this prejudice around as well.  This prejudice is based on “looks”.

Let’s face it those with good looks have a step above us in finding employment opportunities, getting discounts at stores (who turns the pretty woman) and sitting at the best seats in a restaurant. Yes, it might take time, effort, and monies (hair stylist, plastic surgery) to keep up this advantage, but it’s basically a gift from G-D to some and not others.

How can we fight such prejudice or should we? Should we change our policy and give up our seat to the ugly man or woman? Should we make sure we employ ugly people at stores like Victoria’s Secret? Should there be quotes of ugly people working at stores? I for one say no! Adding beauty to our daily routines makes them more enjoyable, exciting and fun. The solution is simple when we see beauty let us share that beauty in the way we act toward others who might not have this advantage in life.  Let us also realize and take into account our own prejudice on looks that we carry everyday and pledge to not only see the beauty from the outside but the beauty within when we judge an individual.
