Chocolate Review- A bar that bites back

alter ego dark

Alter Ego chocolate is a psychological experience for your taste buds. There is an initial taste of the chocolate which is decent but nothing that stands out until the crunchy nibs kick in. That little nib puts this bar over the edge. It’s like walk on thin ice and then the ice slightly cracks with hints of cold ice seeping through.

A chocolate break

Scharffen Berger

I need a little ump after seeing the Saints collapse so I decided to take a chocolate break. The chocolate I’ve chosen is the Scharffen Berger Bean to Bar Series and let’s just say if the Colts Patriots game is as good as this bar we are talking about a classic.  It was able to over-power the left over Hard Apple Cider flavor I had in my mouth. The flavor is quite bitter but still smooth. There are hints of fruit taste but nothing too over powering.

Godiva Chocolate Review

GODIVA – Dark Chocolate filled with Raspberry.

  GREAT PACKAGING

If you love Raspberries this is the Chocolate for you but if your truly a chocolate connoisseur I would move on. I truly was passionate about this bar until this fact came through. My love of Raspberries truly influenced my decision but the last time I ate the bar I tried to separate both flavors. I realized that the chocolate left no lasting flavor and that it was truly only ordinary.  It was similar to my experience with wine coolers the additives are lot more tasty then the wine is.

Therefore I give Godiva Dark Chocolate filled with Raspberry ** 1/2 Cocoa Bars. You can add a half more if you’re in a Raspberry mood.

Top 10 Chocolate exception

I continue my search for the best chocolate and it has led me to a chocolate that is not on the list (below).

ENDANGERED SPECIES CHOCOLATE- Is truly worth saving.  I tried the Natural Dark Chocolate with Raspberries and found it in a class of it’s own.  The bits of Raspberries are perfectly placed so they don’t overpower the incredible chocolate flavor. At 72% cocoa it leaves you with a taste that lingers like the smell of a beautiful rose.  The package of the chocolate is nothing to write home about but knowing that 10% of the net profits are donated to charity are worth the letter. The chocolate is also Non GMO, Gluten Free and Rainforest Alliance Certified for those that are truly concerned about those factors but my prime concern is taste and for this it’s a winner.  **** Cocoa Bars.  It’s going to be hard to top.

I finally can be a food snob without getting a  2nd mortgage. Chocolate gives me this wonderful opportunity.  My goal is to taste a new bar every week starting with the ones  from the ones on this list and expanding whenever I see something that is truly a bit unique.

SPOILER ALERT- I have tried # 3 Bovetti which I purchased at Fairways.  The bar I purchased was the Dark Chocolate with Cocoa Beans.  It comes with a clear window so it can entice the viewer. It has a 73 % concentration of Cocoa but still has a smooth taste to it yet it’s coated with crispy cocoa beans. I truly enjoyed this bar although I would have liked a bit more of a bitter ending to it. Bovetti bar gets  ***  cocoa beans out of 4.

bottled water

Can you tell the difference between various brands of bottled water? I wasn’t a chemistry expert but aren’t they all just H20?  Yet according to “experts” their is a difference (see link below).  Coming soon I will due a blind test to see whether my palate can taste the difference and if so is it still worth the expense.  You will see it first!

A logical meat eater

I love animals and I love to eat certain ones.  I understand that my friends from PETA feel that the second part of my sentence might appear cruel but I ask them to be realistic. If tomorrow I stopped eating meat would my grocer stop selling hamburgers? Would KFC stop serving chicken? Yes I know it’s a statement but have you ever eaten a really good hamburger?

The truth is I feel that in a sense of I’m honoring these animals lives (especially when I add some garlic) so that their death is not put in vain but giving life and joy to others. They have already died and if I didn’t buy them someone else would who might not know how to cook. That would be wrong… right?   Should I just let a chicken corpse go to waste? Should I have a funeral for that chicken when none of their chicken friends could attend?  No I believe they would want me to eat them. So as long as my butcher provides I will cook. Please not my PETA friends that I take a monthly vegetarian day especially when there no meat specials in the supermarket.

Coffee flavored Oatmeal

coffee oatmeal

As I was eating my oatmeal I realized it that what would happen if we combined  two popular morning items together. Coffee because it gets you moving while Oatmeal because it keeps you moving.   Oatmeal is a bit watery anyway so coffee should easily infuse into this product.  Coffee is loved by so many and oatmeal is loved by your body.  If we combine the 2 we’d have the perfect breakfast food which would taste good, be healthy for you, would be quick to make, and make you quicker in the morning.  Now if I could just license this idea to Starbucks of Dunkin Donuts.
