Today, more than ever, we all need a bit more “patience”. In a world where instant gratification is literally at your fingertips, we should take the time to think about how long it truly takes to win. Joseph foreshadowed that Rome wasn’t built overnight and held onto a dream that began many, many moons ago. He faced so many setbacks along the way that they only made him stronger as he moved toward his promised path. From slavery to imprisonment to being forgotten, his mind was built for that age, not the one we live in today. It’s ironic that in a time when we are “generally” living longer, we expect results much faster than people in the past, who walked less than half the distance we do. They might have accomplished less bold visions than we see today, but I bet we don’t have time to look at the whole drawing. We think we are so advanced, yet patience appears to be slipping away. I’m speaking about my mirror as well. Thank G-D, Shabbos was created to slow us down and patiently find a path of peace, happiness, and patience.
