Of course, I’m a liberal I have to understand the journey everyone is taking. This includes walking the steps with government employees suddenly laid off, the undocumented worker fearing who will come the door, the DEI hire who suddenly fears their job is at risk, the LGBTQ+ client who fears losing “their rights “and even those members of gangs whose background lead them down this path. Any slight of a “marginalized people” is one I’m focused on even if their actions might hurt the majority. The individual story is what I’m focused on as I deal with one client at a time not really a nation as a whole.
FOOTNOTE- It’s interesting how the focus on the standard “therapist” doesn’t focus on the individual worker displaced by illegal immigrants, the father whose daughter is pushed to play sports against a man, the Israeli citizen who lost a loved one to terrorist etc etc.
