It’s often hard to tell the difference when done correctly but I’m not your friend instead I’m your father. That means I won’t necessarily tell you what you want to hear but what your ears must be open too. It also means demanding when at times I’d rather just suggest. My goals must not be to worry about hurting your feelings over the short term but making sure you make decisions that keep you well and strong over the long term. Yes, I can be annoying, intrusive and at times even a bit cold because a friend can pass in the night but a father wants to be there for a lifetime.
