The World Series proved that advertisers will survive DVR’s and even Netflix as they strategically place their ads in the midst of the action. While there were quick changes in the action they weren’t quick enough for you to fast forward past an ad. They have implemented this strategy in NASCAR for years with the split screen effect so you can still watch the race and still reach for a Rolaids or a Coke. Yet the World Series strategy took it to new heights as the tension rose with the game and you couldn’t leave your seat so as well you couldn’t leave the ad.
