There are steps we can take today that would help prevent massacre’s like the one that occurred in Las Vegas without stepping on people’s 2nd Amendment rights and would actually work. The ATF and FBI will play a key role in such actions. Here are just a few.
(1) GOOD RELATIONSHIP– Have the ATF , FBI and local police officials develop better and stronger relationships with gun shops and those that supply such items.
(2) TRAINING- Provide training to those that work in gun shops to be able to spot behavior’s and ask pertinent questions before individuals buy such equipment to make sure they aren’t using it for the wrong purposes. Have a direct line to those in law enforcement to ask more thorough questions of consumer if there are any doubts.
(3) TRACKING- Inform local authorities and NRA when a consumer suddenly buys a large quantity of such merchandise and or if an unusual pattern develops.
(4) LINKED- Make sure there is a way to link such purchases even if they come from different places.
(5) REACH OUT- Have local officials, trained NRA representatives, and/or mental health professionals review such individuals together and visit them in a friendly way to insure such purchases are legitimate.
(6) PUBLIC- Have an awareness campaign that asks the public to contact law enforcement officials anonymously if they see something unusual without fear of reciprocity and what signs they could be looking for.
